HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Kings 1-3; Luke 22:36-71 Monday, May 5 John 4:53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house. My Lord Who Is The Way: I want to apply the things said in your word to myself; that way I dont just read about this nobleman from Capernaum (or anybody else), but see the same work of grace in the lives of people I know. After all, the same living Christ is here with me; so let me see the same results as I share him! This man is like so many people I know. Without a crisis he would have stayed without God. Sorrow came to his house, but it was an angel in disguise his child was about to die with fever. Lord I pray for __________ and __________, because affliction is the black horse of mercy riding to their door. They may never seek you otherwise. How much I pray now you would make their troubles take them directly to the throne of grace! I know several others in the late stages of life but the early stages of faith. They listen to me say Jesus makes a way, that he calms the conscience, that he changes my nature, that he hears my prayer, that he sustains his children under trial. They hear these things from me as your Spirit opens the door. Make them say: I think that is true. I wonder if it could ever be true for me? I am in trouble now. I wonder if Jesus would help me now? Should I pray? Faith often begins that way, even if it is so small it only concerns a sick child. Help them Lord, to use whatever faith they have. If they cannot come to you for heavenly things, make them come with the sorrows and trials of this earth. If they cannot pray for an eternal blessing, move them to pray for a passing favor, because you are ready to hear! Though that small faith is only a spark, do not quench it. Save them for Jesus sake. Amen. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS PRAYER LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Kings 4-6; Luke 23:1-28 Tuesday, May 6 Matt. 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Hear Me Lord, and Heal Me Lord! The prayer life of Christ teaches me that while I should have regular seasons of prayer throughout my day, I should also have special sessions of prayer at certain times. Variety is lawful. A little spice keeps me from falling asleep. I need special prayer times because I have special prayer needs. Sometimes I fall victim to a spiritual virus; I catch the disease of pride or laziness or worldliness. Sometimes (Lord forbid!), I break out with some black vice I thought I conquered long ago. I can carry even my good to extremes. At such times of trial I need a special session of prayer! Maybe something new is about to start, and I am breaking new ground. Let me take it as a special call to prayer, and with heart and soul commit my new work to God. The Holy Spirit moves in me as much today as he did in godly men and women of old. Let me follow his promptings with eagerness, and with special desire if the Spirit moves me to pray. Lord, where my power totally fails, let me implore your strength to come so I can keep to the hard but right path. I have need to pray, because some others have fallen. I have need to confess, because some have fallen shamefully and have no remorse. Lord, I pray more might not fall like they did, and that those who are good and true will be upheld by the power of your grace through faith. I think of the ministries our church is involved in. If I cannot specially pray, then they will be but wasted effort. I pray Gods blessing on the word preached. I intercede for the pastors and workers. If it is worthwhile to serve God, then it is worth praying over that service. It is but an offering to the Lorda sweet sacrifice. Lord, may you find it so in my life even today. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Kings 13-15; Luke 24:27:53 Friday, May 9 Deut. 28:8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; Mighty God: If we obey you, you bless what youve given us. That means affluence is no curse as long as we are still obedient. Jobs and riches are not to be trusted, but they dont have to be shunned as long as they are blessed by our trust in you. Lord, dont let the dry-rot of covetousness and the blight of hardheartedness attack our lives and stunt our vision. Too many times when we have more than what we immediately need, we build bigger barns and storehouses instead of seeing how we can be a steward of the excess to your purpose. Teach us to be devoted even with our discretionary funds! Give us your blessing even on your gifts, to be used to accomplish your mission. We know we should put back for savings, prepare for emergencies, and plan for retirement. But let prudence arrange our spending and let liberality govern our giving, because gratitude is what maintains consecration in my life. Praise sweetens the enjoyment of the abundance. It is a great mercy to have your blessings on your gifts. Keep us obedient to you in the enjoyment of them. There are a lot of things we need to set our hand to as a body. We dont want to stretch out our hands to any of those things without stopping to ask your blessing. We want to go forward in your eternal purpose by prayer and by faith. What a privilege to be able to look for your help in every event. Some people talk about being lucky, but having your blessing is much better than luck. We need your patronage today. Self-reliance is fine for the lost, but your blessing is infinitely better than trusting in the fruit of our own talent, ability or tact. We look to Jesus for his assistance, and thank you Lord today. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Kings 7-9; Luke 23:29-56 Wednesday, May 7 Psa. 85:8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. God the LORD: I believe you hear me, so I am eager to hear your word. Only a word from you can speak peace to my troubled life. I need your presence and your power. I lie patiently at your door for your love to act. For me to turn again to sin is worse than foolishI need revival! Psa. 85:9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; A reviving God is always near me, if only I fear the Lord. How can I get revival? Psa. 85:11-12 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase. Truth revives my humanity in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Your Spirit is the enabler for revival. The nature of your deity brings divine righteousness into my heart. And once I have yielded what is due to you as God, then the hidden seeds of blessing will spring up. We will seek Your face Almighty God; turn and pray for You to heal our land Father let revival start in us; then every heart will know Your kingdom come Never looking back well run the race; giving You our lives well gain the prize We will take the harvest given us; though we sow in tears, well reap in joy Lifting up the name of the Lord, in power and in unity We will see the nations turn, touching heaven changing earth Touching heaven changing earth Send revival (send revival) Send revival (send revival) Send revival to us! SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Kings 16-18; John 1:1-25 Saturday, May 10 Psa. 103:9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. Holy Lord: I am so often an erring child. Thank you for being a wise Father who sometimes chides (to scold me; to reprove; to utter words in anger; to rebuke or contendeven to the point of becoming my adversary). Chiding is very painful, because I feel how sadly but rightly I deserve it, and how wrong it is on my part to grieve you or complain about it. I bow before you, mourning that I have caused you to chide. But what a comfort in your word! Not always. For when I repent and return to you, with my heart broken by sin and broken from my sin, you smile on me immediately. Grace ensures it. Nothing do I have to do to bring your smile but to return. It is no pleasure to you to have to turn a frowning face to your children whom you love, for you have stated your desire: John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. Lord, help me seek your face today. There is no reason for despair no matter what. If I will love a chiding God, then before long I will sing, Isa. 12:1 O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. Let me speak to the dark foreboding and say: Be gone! Help me chase away the black ravens of the soul, and let me welcome instead the humble hopes and grateful memories of the past, as doves of the heart. Why? Because the one who pardoned me years ago as a judge will definitely forgive me now as a Father. Bring me to know the sweetness of your forgiveness in a practical way today, and I will rejoice in your unchanging love for Jesus sake. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Kings 10-12; Luke 24:1-26 Thursday, May 8 Josh. 5:14 And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

FATHER, I stretch my hands to Thee, no other help I know;

If Thou withdraw Thyself from me, Ah! whither shall I go? What did Thine only Son endure, before I drew my breath! What pain, what labor, to secure my soul from endless death! O Jesus, could I this believe, I now should feel Thy power; Now my poor soul Thou wouldst retrieve, nor let me wait one hour. Surely Thou canst not let me die; O speak, and I shall live; And here I will unwearied lie, till Thou Thy Spirit give. Author of faith! to Thee I lift my weary, longing eyes: O let me now receive that gift! My soul without it dies. The worst of sinners would rejoice, would they but see Thy face: O, let me hear Thy quickening voice, and taste Thy pardoning grace. Charles Wesley, 1741

PRAYER DIARY

1)

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

" INTERCEDE WITH GOD " INSTRUCT SAINTS " PROMPT PETITIONS " KICKSTART DEVOTION

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

! Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God) ! Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of walking with us) ! Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in the Word)

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
