Things for Nathan are going well. Nathan is a 35 year
old father of two, a respected business man, and the presi-
dent of the area’s downtown business bureau. Although
Nathan is often bothered by his neighbor about coming to
random church outings, Nathan knows he is a good guy,
and he is always willing to donate to whatever the “cause”
happens to be. He is happy for his neighbor, but religion
just isn’t his thing. Nathan would like to get his children
involved with church, but most Sunday mornings it doesn’t
seem worth the hassle.
One Wednesday night, Nathan takes his neighbor up on
the offer of church, and finds himself in the middle of a
week long revival service being put on by the
neighborhood Baptist church.
Although moved and intrigued by the evangelist’s
message and challenged, Nathan is grateful to be working
late the next two nights so he has an excuse not to attend
any other revival meetings.
He told himself that he wasn't running away from the
message, just fulfilling his obligations as the man of the
house and providing for his family.
Unbenounced to him, Nathan’s wife decided to take
their two children to church again the next night.
As Nathan sat at work Thursday night, he began to hear
the evangelist’s words echoing though the store.
“You must be washed clean!” Nathan could even match
the speakers tone of voice. “ Without the cleaning wash
from the blood of Jesus you will never be healed!”
Nathan pushed the thought from his head, searching the
storefront windows hoping to find a potential shopper to
give him relief from his conversation with himself… with
his conscience...with the Lord.
“You must wash yourself 7 times” screamed the pastor,
“not once, not twice , not five or six times, but seven! It’s
not the number, it’s a willingness to obey God.”
As Nathan sat in astonishment at the presence of any
potential shoppers in the downtown area he began to
become overwhelmed with his life and how much he
desired to be cleansed and healed by God. He quickly
closed down the shop and sped off to try and catch the end
of the evening revival meeting. As he entered the small
church building he heard the evangelist share with passion
“Has the Lord been speaking to you? Do you want to
experience this healing? You are not here by accident. God
has brought you here to cleanse you of your sin.”
Nathan walked slowly down the isle to receive the Lord.
As he made his way toward the preacher he locked eyes
with his wife who was sitting in the isle seat sobbing, as
she felt the work of the Holy Spirit in her heart. Surprised
to find each other here at the church they embraced each
other and continued together on their journey to the front of
the sanctuary.
There in the front of a Baptist church, Nathan found a
cleansing and peace he had been searching for his entire
life.
Psalm 85:6-9
85:6 Will you not revive us once more? Then your people
will rejoice in you!
85:7 O LORD, show us your loyal love! Bestow on us your
deliverance!
85:8 I will listen to what God the LORD says. For he will
make peace with his people, his faithful followers. Yet they
must not return to their foolish ways.

deliverance; then his

Namman was about to turn around and go back home
without allowing himself to be healed. Verses 11 and 12
tell us that Namman was angry he decided to head back
home. I can hear Namman chalking the trip as a loss.
Can you imagine finding out that you’ve been diag-
nosed with Swine flu and then told if you wash yourself
seven times you would be healed?
In the book of Numbers, God is tired of listening to the
Israelites complaints so he sends vipers to bite them.
(Numbers 21:6) As the Israelites realize they are in trouble
they beg Moses to go to bat for them with God. (Numbers
21:7)
God tells the Israelites to build a snake out of bronze
and place it on a staff, and if you are bitten you must look
at the snake, then you will be healed.
So what happens? The snakes continue to bite the
Israelites and they take it like a man. NO they turn and
look at the snake and are healed (November 21:9)
John 3:14-15 says, “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in
the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that
everyone who believes in him may have eternal life”
We like to do it ourselves; to do it our way. But we
must be willing to be obedient to the Lord.

• The finance committee made recommendations to adjust the ‘09 budget and reduce some of the budgeted expenses
for the year. The finance chair noted that budget changes have reduced the projected budgeted deficit. However, the
year end difference between actual giving and actual expenses may still be significant due to expenses incurred
already this year. It was also noted that actual giving in the past few months has matched actual expenses.

• Pastor’s Reports: Sermons are posted online and are getting played. All computers are now on the wireless network.
Jed & Jesse are still working on developing a welcome packet for visitors. Jed & Jesse going to a 2 day seminar next
week in Aurora.
