WATER
Community Details
When the Living Water tea arrived, 20 families and a local hospital were dependent on public taps and rainwater collection to meet all of their water needs. The local hospital treats 25 patients daily and is accessible by 500 residents in the community and surrounding areas. Access to an improved water source will drastically improve the health care treatment in Robillard Community. There are community health workers in the area who are working alongside the community hospital to better community health outcomes. The community has access to latrines which will help prevent further spread of disease in the area. Most residents are of Protestant or Catholic faith and the local Catholic church will continue to share the gospel with the unreached and cultivate believers; now using access to safe drinking water as an entry-point to sharing the good news. During the teams stay, community members assembled a water committee who assisted the team with the water project whenever possible and supplied any materials they had available. Water committees are community groups comprised of 5 to 7 members who are trained in various aspects of well management and maintenance, and who are responsible for maintaining the well after the team leaves the area.

FOR LIFE
Hygiene Promotion
During the hygiene education, and using the Living Water Traditional Method, the team addressed: Germs, good-bad hygiene behaviors, Living Well Club Bible stories, disease transmission, clean hands clean hearts. All of these lessons are taught in a participatory method to help community members discover ways to improve their hygiene and sanitation choices, and implement community driven solutions.

Community Member Interview

The Living Water Haiti team had an opportunity to meet with 53-year-old community member and nurse, Eliane, who stated, I am very glad we have a new local and we have safe water available for the clinic. We will be able to offer a better service to the community. A lot of thanks for Living Water.

IN JESUS NAME
Christian Witness
During the Christian witness, the team used oral bible storytelling to share the gospel. Considering 80% of developing countries are oral preference learners, oral disciple making methods are Living Water Internationals core component of sharing the gospel in areas of work. Living Water International provides pastoral care and discipleship of field staff, so pastors and Living Water staff are better able to share the gospel with spiritually thirsty communities. To make disciples of oral learners, Living Water uses stories, proverbs, drama, songs, chants, and poetry to better engage communities. Living Water tells bible stories to community families and asks questions to help guide community members to interpret scripture into their own context.
