Name: Selman Ahmed Professor: Mika Teresa Class: Biology-1010 Date: 04/08/2014 Cancer I just want to mention why I chose this topic, and it is because I see multiple of women smoking cigars, obviously that cause breast cancer which is serious illness. And when I see women affected by this kind of disease, I feel so depressed; it makes feel worried, because their babies wont be able to get feed on their breasts milk once women are affe cted by breast cancer which is not good thing. I am also aware of Women that are affected by breast cancer have disadvantage of leaving too long. So in this paper I am going to mention two articles that talk about smoking and the effect it has on women. One of those articles is scientific article that was published on Wiley online library, and the other one is popular press article which is published on science daily, and I am going to compare those two articles. The hypothesis in the review article is that, young women who smoke and have been smoking a pack a day for a decade or more have a significantly increased risk of developing the most common type of breast cancer. And the hypothesis in the original research article is that, the study of 779 women with estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer; 182 women with ER-negative/human epidermal growth factor-2 (HER2) -negative/HER@-overexpressing. So from reading both articles I determined that the hypotheses of both articles are same, because they both talk about the same topic which is smoking, and how many women have been affected by Estrogen receptor positive breast cancer, which is common subtype of

breast cancer, and triple-negative breast cancer, and other more. However in original article, it indicates that how height, body mass change, and the risk of breast cancer among young women who smoke. In fact in both articles, it was mentioned that, Patients in the study were 20 to 44 years old and were diagnosed from 2004-2010 in the Seattle-Puget sound metropolitan are. It is also has been stated in scientific article that combinations between altitude and body mass indication (BMI) at dissimilar time points in connection to breast cancer danger were evaluated using statistical classification. This means body mass indication is used to tell us about the height and body weight of people that are affected by the sickness. The results and discussion of review article is that, the study shows an expanded danger of breast cancer may be different health risk acquired by young women who smoke. The results and discussion of the original article is that, the equivalences come out to distinct essentially between BMI adjust and the risk of TN breast cancer and ER-positive cancer. I think the way they compared is same level of confidence and same conclusions presented from reading both articles conclusions. The thing I learned from this review based on reading is that women who are immature,
or just uninformed as far as the long term consequences. It is easier to look at the short term and not worry about the future. People think of just lung cancer with smoking, not breast cancer as well, and

smoking a pack a day for ten years or more have an importantly raised danger of growing the most common kind of breast cancer. This is something I did not know before, so it really surprised me. The review improved my scientific understanding; it illustrate widely, so it can make sense to me more.

I dont think the review changed the way I think about the topic, because I knew about what smoking has been doing to all people who smoke not only young women. Sometimes I ask myself that if something is not good for your health, why people do it. Citation
