Ad Councils Boston Leadership Committee and Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries Encourage Bostonians to Be Job Creators
Localized PSAs raise awareness of the 38 donation centers in greater Boston BOSTON (May 2, 2014) In an effort to inspire Bostonians to get involved in their communities and encourage job growth, the Ad Councils Boston Leadership Committee and Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries are urging all TV and radio stations in the greater Boston area to support their localized job training and employment public service advertisements (PSAs). The goal is to encourage all residents to become job creators in their communities by donating their new or gently used clothing and household items to Goodwill. Goodwill is enabling all Bostonians the opportunity to become job creators and make a significant difference in the lives of individuals living in our community, said Karen Agresti of the Ad Councils Boston Leadership Committee. On behalf of the Ad Councils leadership committee, I want to personally encourage all greater Boston media outlets to join us in supporting this critical campaign to encourage their listeners and viewers to do their part by donating their gently used items to their local Goodwill. Last year, nearly 10,500 individuals were served in the local greater Boston area through Goodwills job training programs and career services. Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries served 636 individuals with barriers to employment through its job training programs, providing them case management, work readiness training, skills training, on-the-job training, job placement, and post-placement support. Additionally, Boston Career Link, the one-stop career center operated by Goodwill, assisted 9,860 individuals with career services and referrals to training programs. The Boston Leadership Committee is encouraging all media throughout Boston to air the PSAs beginning today and continuing through September. Created pro bono by New York-based advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi, the PSAs conclude with the tagline, Donate Stuff. Create Jobs. and direct audiences to visit Goodwill.org to find their local donation centers. The site also features the Donation Impact Calculator, which allows users to calculate how a donation might equate to services for someone who is seeking employment. The PSAs will be supported by the Ad Councils Boston Leadership Committee, which includes:

Karen Agresti, SVP, Director of Local Broadcast, Hill Holiday Jane Bowman, Vice President Marketing & Sales Development, Boston Globe Media Bill Fine, President & GM, WCVB-TV Joe Grimaldi, Chairman, Mullen Alexander von Lichtenberg, Vice President & GM, WUNI-HD/LATV 27.2/WUTF-HD, Entravision Phil Zachary, VP and Market Manager, Entercom Radio John Costello, President Global Marketing & Innovation at Dunkin Brands James Speros, EVP and CMO, Fidelity

By airing these localized PSAs, the local media helps to raise awareness of Goodwill and how easy it is to a make a difference in the community. When you donate to Goodwill, you become a job creator and help individuals with barriers to employment find work, said Joanne Hilferty, president and CEO of Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries.
