DETROIT METRO CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU The Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization

that markets and sells the Detroit metropolitan region to business and leisure visitors in order to maximize economic impact. In collaboration with our partners, stakeholders and customers, our purpose is to champion the continuous improvement of the region as a dynamic and memorable destination. Title: Intern, Marketing & Communication Summer 2014 (May-August) 211 W. Fort Street, Suite 1000, Detroit, MI 48226 Student must be eligible to receive credit through the college or university in which he/she is currently enrolled. Hourly rate: $8, 16 hours per week.

Description: The Marketing Intern will focus on projects and activities related to public relations and print and online marketing. The student will work closely with members of the marketing team to achieve the goals of all departments. The internship offers experience in: Writing and editing print and web materials such as press releases, handouts, e-newsletters, website updates, etc. Various procedures related to the production and distribution of Visit Detroit magazine Drafting social media posts and assisting with contests and giveaways Attending media familiarization tours, individual media site visits and press events

Additional Opportunities: Develop business writing skills Professionally represent the DMCVB at industry and association meetings Create and maintain files and data Answer, screen and process telephone calls Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Important Characteristics Good interpersonal and organizational skills Good oral and written communication skills Self motivated individual who works well independently Ability to handle and prioritize projects Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude in a business environment Maintain dependable, consistent and acceptable attendance based upon agreed committed schedule

Intern, Marketing

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of college completed Experience or coursework in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or similar field Strong writing skills in a variety of formats including feature stories, press releases, blog posts, etc. Intermediate skills in personal computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to work both independently without supervision and with a team Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
