Demo for the Explorer 16 Development Board (Microchip Part Number: DM240001)

The Explorer 16 development board provides a low-cost, modular development syste
m
for Microchips line of 16-bit microcontroller families, including the PIC24 and d
sPIC
devices. The demo for the Explorer 16 Development Board demonstrates the LCD, LE
D, Switches,
Potentiometer on the board. On powering up the Board, the demo starts with a mes
sage:

Press S3 to cont
On pressing switch S3, the LEDs D9 and D10 light up and the LCD displays the tim
er and potentiometer
values. The Timer module is set up as a Real Time Clock counter and it updates t
ime
every second along with toggling LED D10 with every update. The ADC module reads
the
potentiometer value and the application converts the ADC value into Volts and di
splays on
the LCD panel. Every time the potentiometer value is updated, the LED D9 blinks
and it blinks
at a rate faster compared to the LED D10. The demo runs updating the Timer and P
otentiometer
values continously.
Hardware setup:
Explorer16 Board:
- JP2 closed
- S2 set to PIM
- J7 set to PIC24
PIMs, if they have jumpers, should be set to default positions as per the PIM in
fo sheet.
