How do children/students learn (use at least three theorists)?

Currently, I believe that students learn in many different ways. Each student is unique
and comes to class with a distinct set of skills to learn. I believe that learning is required for
everything including new concepts and basic behavior skills and social norms. That is why I
agree with various concepts of the following three learning theories: Skinners Behaviorism,
Piagets Constructionism, and Vygotskys social constructivism.
Overall, the Skinners Behaviorism suggest that psychologist should concern themselves
with observable and measurable behavior. Skinner developed the concept of operant
conditioning which modifies behavior based on antecedents and consequences. The concepts of
Behaviorism can be used to establish the classroom management by providing consequences for
breaking the class room rules. Also, with Project Based Learning (PBL) the students are
encouragement to engage in the learning process with their peers. To conclude, Skinners
Behaviorism can be used to help establish classroom management and provide students
encouragement to work with their peers.
To summarize, Piagets Constructionism is the idea or concept that learning comes from
adaptation and organization. In order to survive, people must be able to adapt to changes in their
physical environment. Accommodation is one part of the adaptation process. Accommodation
occurs when an existing procedure needs to be modified. For example, students are taught to
balance and solve as procedure to solve one step equations. To solve a two steps equation, the
student must modify the above procedure by adding the process of simplifying. To conclude,
constructivism is a part of the learning process because students our frequently forced to adapted
to new environments.
The final theory I mostly agree with is Vygotskys social constructivism. Overall,
Vygotskys studied the role of social interaction in the development of cognition. The role of the
community plays is important part in the learning process as well as the concept of scaffolding or
providing support. When a student is asked to complete a difficult task, scaffolding or providing
the student with support will help the student complete the difficult task. For example, the
student is having difficulty with solving system of equations, the teacher can provide the student
with extra support. The teacher might use various questions like, what can we do first to simplify
the equation, or our objective is to get both equations in the y = mx + B form; what can we do
first?
To conclude, I believe that learning is required for everything including new concepts
and basic behavior skills and social norms. That is why I agree with various concepts of the
following three learning theories: Skinners Behaviorism, Piagets Constructionism, and
Vygotskys social constructivism.
