Accessing the inner landscape of the childs mind through image-making and play

A two-day workshop for those interested in exploring
how to decode and understand the expressive
metaphors and symbols inherent in childrens art and
play themes.

Dates: 3
rd
& 4
th
June 2014
Time: 10am to 5pm
Venue: Penang Performing Arts Centre, Straits Quay, Penang

Children use playful drawing as self-expression and means of communicating to
the world around them. The images created bring out their innermost conflicts
and emotions more efficiently and effectively than words could hope for.
Image-making can communicate and provide critical embedded information such
as the developmental level of the child, the child's approach to forming
relationships, attachment issues, the child-parent relationship, traumatic
experiences and their own distinctive perception of life experiences.

Image-making, through viewing and sharing what has been created provides a
way for children to cope with emotional conflicts, increase awareness, and
express unspoken and often unconscious concerns about life
challenges they may encounter.

Who should attend:

Appropriate for parents, early years/special needs teachers, experienced as well as creative arts/play
therapists, counselors in training, psychology students and just about any individual who works with children
and is interested in wanting to develop a more insightful understanding of children.
