-Provided thickness as per client spec & Size availability in market
-Mill tolerance consideration while giving minimum thickness-UG-
-Cone angle ---as per Div.1 ,Div.2
-Hydrotest position and its corresponding description and value in design
data ,input data and in internal pressure calculation
-UG-99 (b) foot note (34) instead of UG-99(b)(34) for Design= MAWP
condition hydrotest.
-insert plate width as per WRC-368
Minimum width is the greater of
1.65*Sqrt(R*T) and d/2
Where,
R-mean radius of parent shell/head
T- thickness of parent shell/head
d-Nozzle Mean Diameter
-avoid plug holes in dish inline with support pipe centerline for vent purpose
while welding support pipe otherwise support pipe should checked for
external pr.as atm pr as internal pr.and vessel int.pr.as external pr.
-check joints in dish for bigger size diameter vessels
- before finalizing dish thickness, nozzle thk and r.f pad requirement check
in WRC for nozzle in head for forces and moment use resultant method if
applicable
-similarly for element thk check platform and ladder load and its WRC if
applicable
-For Fibre elongation knuckle radius
Elliptical Head
K.R=(Dish ID * 0.17)+ (Nom THk/2)
Torishpherical Head
K.R=(Dish OD * 0.1)+ (Nom THk/2)
-Volume
6% Torispherical-0.0846 D3
10% Torispherical-0.1 D3
2:1 Elliptical-0.1309 D3 or (0.1313 D3)
Hemi sphere=(pi/12)*D3
Elliptical=(pi/24)*D3

Area
Hemi Sphere = (Pi/2) * D2
2:1 Head=1.084 * D2

Tube sheet
-for filters strainer plate calculation and its support pipe calculation
-strainer plate support clip design if applicable
-check differential pressure for filter
-Tube sheet ligament efficiency
-tube sheet thickness (t)= sqrt(6M/f
b
)
Moment (M) =Ring width * Dirt Load
f
b-
allowable bending stress,0.66 * yield

Lining, insulation,content
-check weight, insulation & lining to be considered in corresponding
conditions like empty, operating and hydrotest and in drawing also proper
weight to be shown, particularly for lifting crane requirement selection.. (for
type load whether it is considered as welded internals or some other mean)
-Lining and Insulation applicable and its Density
-content level and its density

Inspection opening
-Inspection opening as per UG-46
-check drain in a vessel
-check suitability for hydrotest as per the selected position(for drain, air lock
prevention etc)
-manway quick opening closure calculation

Nozzles
-Fillet leg size as per code UW-16
-Fillet leg size = Throat * 1.414
-Throat= 0.7 * (6 mm or smaller of thickness of the joining two joining
parts)
-Nozzle joint type as per UG-40 and UW-16 and as per drawing(notation,
schedule, rating, projection etc)
-Studding outlet blind flange design
-Flat Head, Studding outlet threaded hole min.depth as per UG-43(UG-43
table min. no. of thread engaged)
-Studding outlet id and size to be check as per position
-Design of Nozzle passing through blind flange
-Design of blind flange having nozzle opening in it
-Hub Nozzle Bevel angle minimum 30 degree (Use 45 degree),Refer fig UG-
40(e)(e-1)(e-2)
-Hub Height= Hub Thk * 2.5
-Bevel Height= Hub Thk-Neck Thk (for 45 Degree)
-Bevel Height = (Hub Thk-Neck Thk)/tan 60degree (For 30 Degree)
-Nozzle comes in blind flange use UW-16 (q) config or check weld for more
than 38 mm then PWHT needed.
-check Nozzle offset distance in head to avoid in Knuckle portion and high
membrane and bending stress
-APP L-7.7.7(b) Nozzle hill side D/2h varies depend on offset &
corresponding k Value as per UG-33.1 table for head changed and area reqd
and availability changed
-Nozzle opening ratio and refer UG-39
