Show Your Stuff
Every year since your first intro course you have been
given some sort of project to work on. You have done
things like constructing a cardboard chair, a Rube Gold-
berg, simple programming projects, and everything in
between: all in the interest of learning the basics of your
discipline. What do you have to show for all of this hard
work? Nothing. That's right, nothing but a grade. Well
times have changed and thanks to Speed School Student
Council, you can finally get some recognition for a job
well done
This year E-Expo will have a new category for exhibits:
Fundamentals of Engineering. In this category you can
submit a project that you are or have been working on
that isn’t quite up to par with the judged exhibits. These
exhibits can be as simple as “Why does ice expand when
it freezes?”. You can also submit a project for one of
your classes. For instance, the intro to mechanical engi-
neering class used to do a Rube Goldberg project which
could be entered. You can take any basic principle of
any of the departments and use it.
Fundamentals of Engineering is a way to get everyone
involved. In the past the only exhibits that could be
found at E-Expo were graduate projects and labs or up-
per level capstone projects. This way the public can see
that everyone here at Speed participates in some pretty
amazing things.
If you are ready to get started just think about your old
science fair days. You will need a 5 to 10 minute pres-
entation, a poster board or tri-fold with an explanation of
the project and any necessary visuals that help in ex-
plaining the project.
Now for the prizes. There will be a “people’s choice”
and random door-prizes through out the day.

Fundamentals of Engineering Review Course
Kaplan AEC Education is the source for reference/
resource materials for the spring FE Review
course. Current Speed School students who enroll
in the class may be eligible to receive free reference
materials for the course (FE Reference handbook, de-
partment-specific reference handbook, and a test prepa-

“Engineering is a
Treasure”
ew Business Course Opportunity
The College of Business will be offering a new course this
summer. Management 415: Simply Business is a six-credit
hour course that will introduce students to business by show-
ing the inner workings of a local company (Texas Road-
house). Students will explore the risks and rewards of busi-
ness and discover what managers do on a daily basis to be
successful. Topics covered: economics, organizational be-
havior, accounting, marketing, finance, business strategy,
and others. Your registration will include a five-subscription
to the Wall Street Journal.
The course will run July 5th through August 4th, from 9:40
am - 12:50 pm. The first day of class (July 5th) will begin at
9:00 am with an opening breakfast.
Prerequisites: Senior standing with a 2.5 GPA.
