Do you agree that teenagers should always listen to adults?

To my mind, teenagers should listen to adults a lot, but not always. I disagree with the idea
that adults are always right because it depends on the person. Sometimes adults make
mistakes, do all the wrong things or are even criminals. Young people mustn't listen to their
advice because these people don't know how to help them. ut, most adults are good people
and want to help teenagers. That's why it's a good idea to listen to those caring and honest
adults. !ith their help, young people can understand li"e and how to act better.
!hat makes a good restaurant?
In my opinion, a good restaurant is a "riendly place with e#cellent "ood. $ood restaurants
serve healthy meals and the sta"" know a lot about the "ood on the menu. %lso, the decor in a
good restaurant is stylish and interesting. % good restaurant is a very clean place too. It is
good when the restaurant has a nice view o" a garden or a park and it's not noisy. !ell,... a
welcoming and warm atmosphere is very important in a good restaurant as well. You want to
"eel rela#ed and happy when you have a meal there.
!hat is a healthy diet?
In my opinion, a healthy diet contains the "ood rich in vitamins and proteins, such as "resh
vegetables, "ruit and milk products. It hasn't got a lot o" carbohydrates and "at, so you don't
eat many sweets and "atty things. !hen you are on a healthy diet, you eat small meals and
you have them regularly. You also drink a lot o" mineral water and you can't have a lot o"
co""ee, sweet drinks or alcohol. In "act, you shouldn't eat out in "ast "ood restaurants. It's a
good idea to cook at home i" you want to eat healthily,
%re you a great "an o" weekend shopping?
To me, weekend shopping is a very bad idea. &irstly, I hate shops at the weekend because
they are always crowded and noisy. 'veryone wants to do the shopping on Saturday or
Sunday and I don't understand why. &or instance, i" there are some good special o""ers, you
can't get them at the weekend because there are so many people everywhere. !hat's more, i"
you go shopping at the weekend, you don't have time "or other rela#ing things, such as
meeting "riends, going to the cinema or (ust watching T). %nd this is something I want to do
on Saturdays and Sundays when I don't have to go to school. That's why I'm de"initely not a
"an o" weekend shopping.
!hat are the good sides o" working "or yoursel"?
!ell, erm ... that's a good *uestion. !orking "or yoursel" is good because you can work "rom
home and you don't have to go to the o""ice every day. esides, you don't have a boss, so you
can make your own decisions. It's great "or people who like to be "ree. !hat's more, when
you work "or yoursel", you can have holidays when you want and work when you want. %ll
in all, in my opinion, it's a great idea to work "or yoursel".
!hat is your dream (ob?
I'd like to work as a radio D+ because I think I'd be good at this (ob. &irst o" all, I'm really
into music and I know a lot about the latest music trends, so I could use this at work. ,y
'nglish is also *uite good, so I understand the song lyrics and this is very use"ul in this (ob.
I'm good at talking to people too, so I could do interviews with music stars. I think I am *uite
clever and tell good (okes and I'm sure the radio listeners would like my programmes.
&inally, a D+'s (ob is well-paid and really e#citing. That's why it's my dream (ob.
Do you think the people are taking good care o" the animal?
%ll the people in the picture look really worried and I think they really want to help the
animal to "eel better. 'veryone is looking at the panda very care"ully and probably talking to
the animal. ,aybe they "eel very close to it and, "or them, such a wild endangered animal
could "eel like a "amily pet or even a "amily member. The vet and the woman on the right are
even touching the panda. They are not a"raid at all. That's why I'm absolutely sure they are
taking very good care o" the panda bear.
Should all the .oos be closed?
In my opinion, .oos are a very bad idea. &or instance, %"rican animals should live on their
continent, not in 'urope or /orth %merica, because they can only "eel happy and survive as
a species in their natural environment. ,any .oos don't have enough money to look a"ter the
animals really well. Some, such as the .oo in !arsaw, are in the noisy city centre and I don't
think it's good "or the animals. %ll o" these places should be closed as soon as possible. ut
there are also some "antastic places - huge .oos with great e#perts, doctors and scientists.
Sometimes these specialists can help endangered animals survive, so these special .oos are a
very good idea. 0n"ortunately, there aren't too many o" them. So, all in all, most .oos should
be closed and only the specialist ones should stay open.
!hy do young people en(oy summer camps?
!ell, it's hard to say. Some teenagers love summer camps because they can spend their
summer holidays in an active way. I" they are into sports, adventure holidays with lots o"
sports activities are per"ect "or them. 1ther young people choose summer camps because
they want to be "ar away "rom their parents. They pre"er travelling and having "un with their
"riends. 2ersonally, I love summer camps because you can meet new people, make new
"riends and go cra.y together. I am a great "an o" active holidays.
%re hitchhiking holidays always a good idea?
I can't think o" one good answer. $oing on hitchhiking holidays is always a great adventure,
that's "or sure. 1n the one hand, you can have "un and meet "antastic people on your way. 1n
the other hand, it can be dangerous - you can get into trouble, travel with strange people or
spend a night in a unsa"e place. 2ersonally, I believe hitchhiking is a very good idea "or
people who have little money, a lot o" time and can travel as a group. !hen you travel with
your "riends it is sa"er and more e#citing. It's also a great idea "or people who like visiting
small, unpopular places. Driving "rom one place to another, you can stop in small villages
and towns and en(oy their atmosphere. %ll in all, hitchhiking is good "or groups o" student
travellers, but it can be a bad idea when you are older and travel alone in a dangerous
country.
!hich do you think is worse, telling white lies or gossiping and why?
In my view, honesty is the best policy, but i" I have to choose, gossiping is worse than telling
white lies. !hen you tell a white lie, it's o"ten because you want to be nice to someone, or
you don't want to hurt their "eelings. Telling white lies is a way o" helping someone,
especially your "riends. &or e#ample, i" your girl"riend is happy with a new dress, you don't
want to tell her that the colour doesn't suit her, ut when people gossip about someone, they
don't want to help this person. They usually want to "eel better than others and "or me this is
wrong. That's why I think gossips are worse than liars.
!ould you like to learn to play baseball?
2ersonally, I wouldn't like to play this sort of game because it's better for boys. For example, you have to be really strong to hit the ball and I'm not strong enough. Also I'm not too quick, so I
couldn't be a really good player. esides, it's a team sport in !hich you have to compete, and I prefer individual sports !ithout too much competition and stress. "y favourite sport is scuba diving.
!hat makes a best-selling book?
!ell, that's a very good *uestion3 % real best-seller is a novel which is very attractive to
many readers. In my opinion, it must have an e#citing story, lively dialogues and an
e#tremely attractive cover. &irstly, it must be easy to notice in a bookshop. That's why an
original cover is so important. Secondly, it must be a pleasure to read. 4eaders love e#otic
locations, "rightening adventures and characters they can identi"y with. The novel must have
a lot in common with real li"e, but it also has to remind you o" your incredible dreams. Take,
The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, "or e#ample. It's a beauti"ul story with "antastic characters
who have problems and ambitions like we all do. %nd the plot is *uite dramatic and
sometimes unreal, like in a very good action movie. That's what makes a best-selling novel.
Is it a good idea to see a "ilm adaptation be"ore reading a book? !hy?
2ersonally, I pre"er reading books to watching "ilms, so it's a better idea to me to read the
book "irst. &irst o" all, when you read a novel, you can use your creativity and imagine all the
characters, places and events in the book. It's easy to create the whole story in your mind and
that's very e#citing - "or instance, the 5arry 2otter books. The book author had such
incredible ideas that reading the novel was a great adventure. ut, when I saw the "ilms, I
was really disappointed. ,y imagination was better than the special e""ects I saw on the
cinema screen. 1n the other hand, when you see a really good "ilm adaptation "irst, it can be
a great invitation to read the book later. There are some books, like the stories o" Sherlock
5olmes, which I read a"ter seeing their cinema version. %ll in all, it's a great idea to read a
book be"ore you see a movie. ut a really success"ul "ilm adaptation can help you discover
an e#citing book as well.
!hat electronic gadget is the most use"ul "or you? !hy?
&or me, the most use"ul device is my mobile phone. I think I am addicted to it and
sometimes I use it too o"ten. ut it's because it's so use"ul. It helps me a lot because I can
send and receive te#t messages to keep in touch with my "riends. I can also call my parents
and tell them that I am going to be late "or dinner so they don't have to worry about me. %nd
it's not everything. I take a lot o" pictures with my mobile phone and then upload them on my
blog. It's great because I can post the news very *uickly with my mobile. I also use it to
download audio "iles and listen to music on my way to school. I simply can6t imagine my
li"e without my mobile.
!hat makes a good teacher?
I" you ask me, a good teacher should love his or her (ob because students can notice that
*uite easily. % good teacher respects the students and tries to understand their problems.
!hat's more, to be good at this (ob, you have to know a lot about the sub(ect you teach and
be good at e#plaining di""icult things in an easy way. % good teacher can plan e#citing
lessons and knows how to keep his or her students interested in the sub(ect. ,ost
importantly, good teachers must be patient and understanding. They have to control their
emotions when they give marks, test or e#ams and they must show positive emotions to
motivate their students to study hard. %s I see it, it's not easy to "ind a good teacher, but i"
you "ind one, you'll always remember the person.
!hat is the best way to encourage young people to go to university?
/owadays, young people decide to go to university "or many di""erent reasons. The best way
to encourage them is to o""er them interesting courses to do at university. esides,
universities should have e#cellent student "acilities - com"ortable lecture rooms and
dormitories, great sports "acilities, "ree access to the Internet "or all students and modern
libraries. 0niversity teachers should also be e#perts with a real passion "or their (ob and
sub(ects. &inally, university studies should be "ree "or all students. %nd the students who get
very good marks or are gi"ted should get money to pay the "ees to be able to study abroad.
I'm sure those are the best ways to encourage young people to go to university.
!hat kind o" protest would you like to (oin? !hy?
2ersonally, I am absolutely passionate about animal rights, so I would like to take part in a
protest against animal e#periments. I'd like our politicians to do something about it and "or
me the only way is to protest. I am not an aggressive person, so I'd love to make a petition or
write a mani"esto and ask people in the streets to sign it. I could also organise a school
debate and invite some e#perts to tell the truth about animal e#periments to all the students
in my school. Then we could make banners and go on a street march. It would be a great idea
to set up an animal lovers' party and organise similar protests more regularly.
!hat can you learn "rom visiting "oreign countries?
!ell, that's a very interesting *uestion. 2ersonally, I love travelling and I believe that visiting
"oreign countries can teach you a lot o" important things. &irst o" all, you meet new people
and make new "riends. They come "rom di""erent cultures, so you can learn a lot about their
customs and traditions. That's the best way to learn the most interesting things about the
world. You also become more tolerant when you see how people live and think di""erently
"rom you. esides, when you visit a "oreign country and stay there "or a while, you can learn
the local language. This is the best method o" learning languages "or me. &inally, travel is
also about sightseeing, listening to local music and tasting local "ood. It's always the most
en(oyable part o" my holiday. I always take plenty o" pictures, bring back 7Ds with new
music and "ind new recipes. Then, a"ter many months, when I look at the photos, listen to the
music or try a "oreign recipe, I realise how much I have learnt "rom the holiday e#perience.
Is sightseeing a good way to spend a holiday? !hy?8 !hy not?
This *uestion is *uite di""icult to answer because a lot depends on the person. Some people
en(oy la.y holidays on the beach, so "or them sightseeing is not a good idea at all. They
pre"er rela#ation and entertainment. 1ther people who are more interested in learning about
other cultures are great "ans o" sightseeing. They like to visit interesting places in their own
country or abroad, and they o"ten buy a guidebook be"ore the trip or buy a guided tour to
learn as much as possible about the places they see. !hat's more, photography is getting
very popular as a hobby. %mateur photographers travel around with their cameras and take
plenty o" pictures while sightseeing. &or them as well, this is the best idea "or a holiday. To
sum up, a sightseeing holiday is a per"ect idea "or travellers who want to "ind out more about
"oreign cultures and traditions or take photographs o" the beauti"ul landscapes and sites. &or
many tourists who pre"er doing nothing on holiday, sightseeing is not "un.
!ould you pre"er to go on a la.y holiday or to spend it in an active way? !hy?
I" you ask me, the best holiday is a peace"ul and rela#ing time with nothing to worry about.
That's why I'd pre"er to go on a la.y holiday "ar away "rom the noise and the crowds. ,y
day-to-day li"e is very busy and stress"ul. I have to do a lot o" things at school and at home.
!hat's more, I always need to be on time, so I'm always in a hurry. I want my holiday to be
totally di""erent. 2ersonally, I'd be much happier on an all-inclusive beach holiday than on a
backpacking adventure trip where you have to make all the arrangements yoursel".
!hy do young people get addicted so easily these days?
%s "ar as I can see, there are several reasons "or underage 14 addictions nowadays. &irstly,
young people live under a lot o" stress these days. ecause their parents work so hard, they
don't have enough time to talk to their teenage children. %nd so teens are le"t with the stress
on their own. &or some, the easiest way is to try alcohol, cigarettes, legal highs, or drugs.
1thers "eel better as a result o" binge eating, playing computer games or shopping. These
habits *uickly become addictions they can't live without. !hat's more, the contemporary
mass media and music industry promote celebrities who believe it is trendy to have
addictions. It's enough to look at the latest music videos, teen maga.ines and T)
programmes to understand what I mean. %ll kinds o" addicts are becoming role models "or
young people. &inally, i" you have enough money, you can easily buy addictive substances.
%lcohol, cigarettes, legal highs or so"t drugs are easily available in places where young
people o"ten hang around. ,ost teenagers can a""ord them or "ind ways to get the money "or
them. 'ven i" it is illegal to sell these substances to under-eighteen is very "ew adults respect
the law. This, in my view, e#plains why contemporary young people get so easily addicted.
!hat is the best way to discourage young people "rom using drugs?
It s di""icult to give an easy answer to this *uestion. 'verything depends on the speci"ic
situation. ut generally, I believe adults can do a lot to discourage teenagers "rom using
drugs. % lot o" money should be spent on education and advertising campaigns against
drugs. I" youngsters understand why people use drugs and how harm"ul they are, and when
they realise that it is not cool at all to be addicted, they will probably try to avoid drugs. To
make young people understand this, we need e#perts who can e""ectively communicate this
message. 1nly those teachers, psychologists and doctors who know how to talk to teenagers
will be success"ul. %nd "inally, a lot depends on parents. I" they spend more time with their
teenage children, talk to them every day, respect their opinions, get to know their "riends and
try to understand what's happening in their lives, young people won't need to look "or escape
outside the "amily. So, all in all, to me. the best way to discourage teenagers "rom using
drugs is to teach them how to be happy without using these addictive substances.
!ould you participate in a protest march and why?
It depends on so many things. &irst o" all, I really care about animals. They have to su""er
only because some rich people want to wear trendy coats, and I can't put up with that. &or
that reason, I would like to participate in a similar protest. 1n the other hand, I don't think I
could take part in this kind o" protest. It's too e#treme "or me. I wouldn't walk naked in the
street. %ll in all, I would protest "or that cause, but I would do it in a di""erent, less e#treme
way.
Do you think eating out is always a good idea?
To be honest, I have never thought about it be"ore. 9et me think ... !ell, eating out is
de"initely a per"ect idea "or everyone who can't cook or doesn't have enough time "or
cooking on his or her own. %nd it is also very attractive "or people who en(oy e#perimenting
with new, e#otic tastes as these days you can visit all kinds o" themed restaurants serving the
most unusual "ood. The only problem seems to be money. I" you decide to eat out on a daily
basis, it means spending *uite a lot o" money on meals every day. It's probably twice as
much as you spend on home cooking. So this idea would be per"ect only "or the people who
are wealthy and can a""ord it. 'ating out can also be a problem i" you don't know the right
place to have a meal. In my case, I never eat at "ast "ood bars because I'm a"raid the "ood
may not be "resh enough or the kitchen might be not clean enough. I simply don't trust such
places. 1n the other hand, I hear that some e#pensive restaurants can sometimes serve old
"ood or have dirty kitchens as well. So eating out seems a good idea only i" you are sure the
place is up to your e#pectations. I reckon the best way to "ind a good place to eat out at is to
ask your "riends "or advice or check the Internet and local guidebooks "or recommendations.
To put it in a nutshell, better sa"e than sorry.
Do you pre"er to take oral or written e#ams and why?
%s "ar as I'm concerned, oral e#ams are a much better idea. &irstly, you get a chance to talk
to an e#aminer in person and you can e#plain what you mean i" they don't understand your
answer at "irst. You can also immediately correct a mistake you have made there and then.
!hat's more, oral e#ams usually check your knowledge in practice - in that sense they are
more use"ul in real-li"e because you can show your skills, not (ust give in"ormation. esides,
oral e#ams take less time than written tests, so they are less stress"ul "or the student. %nother
advantage o" oral e#ams is that you get the results very *uickly, so you and your "amily don't
nave to wait "or ages and stress out. &inally, I am much better at talking and I usually do
badly in written assignments, so personally I pre"er having a conversation with an e#aminer
to writing essays or doing written tests.
!hat is the best way to promote sporting activities among teenagers?
That's a good *uestion. I've been thinking about it recently. It's "unny that in the 0S% so
many sports events attract thousands o" "ans. In 2oland only "ootball matches and ski
(umping contests are so popular. 1h, perhaps dance contests as well. ut even i" young
people in 2oland watch sporting events, they do not really en(oy doing the sports. %nd I
believe a lot depends on upbringing. To make things better, it would be an idea to launch a
national advertising campaign to promote sports and healthy li"estyles. y doing this, we
could convince teenagers that doing sports is bene"icial "or their health and trendy. The
situation could be improved i" more money was spent on building modern sports "acilities in
bigger and smaller towns. They should be close to schools and available to teenagers "ree o"
charge. This could lead to more young people across the country participating in sporting
activities. &inally, "amilies should do sports together in their spare time. I" children learn that
sport is great "un when they are still very young, they will want to take part in all sorts o"
sports contests later on as well. In a way, children should be taught to en(oy sports I would
say. %ll things considered, adults can do a lot to encourage :he yuunyer generation lu get
Involved in sports.
!hat can schools do to help students keep "it?
modern sports "acilities built at the school or near the school and available "or "ree would be
a great idea. 5owever, schools can do even more to help students keep "it. The problem
could be solved by employing 2' teachers who are not only good at sports but also
e#tremely enthusiastic. % good 2' teacher should know how to encourage students to
compete and en(oy sports without stressing them out. ;eeping "it is also connected with a
healthy li"estyle. The problem o" overweight teenagers could be solved i" pupils knew what
makes a healthy diet. I" kids could learn at school how to make healthy meals, that would
make things better "or sure. &inally, school canteens should o""er healthy meals and snacks.
To sum up, i" schools promoted a healthy li"estyle, students would "ind it easier to keep "it.
I was wondering i" you could recommend a good book by a 2olish author to me.
!ell, in "act, I've (ust "inished reading an autobiography o" !"adyslaw S.pilman, called The Pianist. A real treasure on the market# It s a must read for anyone !ho !ants to understand $oland's past as it is set during
%orld %ar II in %arsa!. &he book is based on real'life events and tells the story of a $olish (e!ish pianist !ho tries to survive the !ar in %arsa!. As the $olish capital is occupied by the )a*is, ail the (e!ish residents have to escape or
hide in order to avoid suffering and death. +*pilman is one of them. %ith the help of some brave $oles and one ,erman officer, he manages to stay alive, but it is not easy. &his moving story is full of unexpected t!ists and it kept me in
suspense until the very end.
5ow o"ten and when do you use technology to communicate with your "amily members?
/ever thought about it be"ore. 5mm ... !ell, actually I use all kinds of technological gadgets to stay in touch !ith my family every single
day. I think it happens so often because everyone in my family has a very busy life and !e seldom have enough time to sit do!n and talk together face'to'face. ut of course, !e have to keep in touch during the day. &here are hundreds
of reasons. I usually text my parents !hen I need to tell them !here I am or !hen I am going to get back home. I have an i$hone so I t!eet my brother a lot. +ometimes !e even argue on &!itter. %ell, and there's my girlfriend ... -et me
put it this !ay. +he's not my family member yet, not officially any!ay, but !e are very close. %e do skype practically every evening, having video conversations or simply chatting online. I must admit I didn't realise ho! much technology
affects the !ay I communicate !ith my family.

!hat is the best part-time (ob "or a student?
It's di""icult to choose one part-time (ob which would suit all the students. It has to be
rewarding and *uite well-paid, but it can't be too challenging as people o" that age are not
e#perienced enough. ,ost students hate mundane tasks, so the work can't be boring, either. I
would consider two options< a (ob as a personal assistant and a sales representative. In these
two (obs, you can learn a lot "rom other people and you can be on "le#itime, which is
important "or students. %s a 2%, you can show your communication and organisation skills
and i" you are success"ul you can get a permanent (ob and later get promoted. !orking as a
sales rep, you learn how to persuade people to do things "or you, how to negotiate and it's
also easy to see the results o" your work. I" you sell a lot, you get a pay rise. This is what
matters to many students. !ith both (obs, you get some perks too, such as a company car, a
laptop or a mobile. That too can be *uite appealing to a student. I" I had to choose mysel", I
would apply "or a 2% (ob because I love working in a team.
!hat are the disadvantages o" working "or a big company?
%lthough many people dream o" working "or an international corporation, I think there are
too many negative aspects connected with working at such big companies. The greatest
disadvantage is the hours you have to spend at work. To give you one e#ample, take my
brother. 5e works "or a multinational company and does a lot o" overtime. Sometimes he
even works at the weekend. %s a conse*uence, he is e#hausted and has no time to en(oy our
"amily li"e. %nother drawback is the atmosphere at work. In a big company everyone wants
to do better than others. 1ne reason is to earn more. The other is that most employees simply
don't want to be made redundant, so they try really hard. The competition makes people
aggressive and it's very di""icult to work with colleagues who think you are their biggest
enemy. There is also one more negative aspect which is very important to me personally.
!orking "or a corporation, you have to "ollow a speci"ic dress code and I hate wearing suits.
I can't stand it when everyone in the o""ice looks e#actly the same -grey and boring. For those reasons. I'd prefer to be self'
employed.
!here do you do shopping more o"ten? -gd.ie na(c.=>cie( robis. .akupy

There are a lot o" advantages connected with going on trips out o" summer season but imo
the most important are lower prices, peace and *uiet during the season, these places are busy8crowded and

C.5ow to encourage young people to healthy "ood?+ak .achecic mlodych lud.i do .drowego (ed.enia
I,1, the best place to encourage young people to eat healthy "ood are schools, because they are responsible
