The Revelation of Intercession

I. THE PRIMARY WAY THAT GOD GOVERNS THE UNIVERSE
A. God has chosen intercession as the primary means in which He releases His (government) power
through Jesus and with His people (now and forever). We need revelation of the majesty and
mystery of intercession (Eph. !"#$). %his is seen in Jesus engaging in intercession forever.
!
Therefore He is also a"le to save to the #tter$ost those %ho co$e to &o' thro#(h Hi$)

&. The $*ster* of intercession / the primary principle of intercession is simply to tell God what He
tells us to tell Him as the means of releasing His power. %his is profoundly simple. 'ntercession
is God(s )rilliant strategy for including the saints in ruling with Him in power. 'ts mystery is in
its *wea+ness,- simplicity- humility and accessi)ility to all.
.. The $a5est* of intercession/ the highest means of releasing God(s power is intercession. Jesus
as the second /erson of the %rinity operated in this *principle of intercession, when He created
the heavens and the earth (Gen. ). Jesus continues to use intercession to govern the universe in
partnership with His people. %he governmental center of the universe is in the /rayer 0inistry-
which includes all the 1pirit inspired prayers on earth and in heaven that converge )efore God.
2. God re3uires us to cooperate with Him in the grace of God. %his is an e4pression of His desire
for intimate partnership with us. &o' %ill not 'o o#r 6art and %e cannot 'o His 6art. 'f we do
not do our part then God withholds some of the help and )lessing He would have given us.
II. JESUS USED THE PRINCIPLE OF INTERCESSION WHEN CREATING THE EARTH
A. %he 5ather has deep thoughts (plans) )urning in His heart. %he 5ather ordained that Jesus would
spea+ out the 5ather(s thoughts (intercession) as the way to release the 1pirit(s power in Gen. .

V. JESUS RELEASES GODS JUSTICE IN RESPONSE TO INTERCESSION
A. Jesus taught that justice would )e esta)lished through night and day prayer (spea+ing God(s
Word). Justice is God ma+ing wrong things right. Jesus is the ultimate social reformer. He was
the first to connect justice (social reform and ma+ing wrong things right) to night and day prayer.

2. Jesus re3uires night and day prayer as the condition to release justice. /rayer is a very practical
e4pression of the commandment to love one another in that it releases deliverance for the needy.
E. %he revelation of intercession affected 2avid(s method of government. He esta)lished :=;"
worship and intercession as the foundation of his +ingly reign in 'srael ( .hr. :<#:>). His
revelation of heavenly worship (as seen in /salms) is foundational to 2avid(s throne which is

A. %he governmental center of the universe is in the */rayer 0inistry,- which includes all the 1pirit
inspired prayers on earth and in heaven that converge )efore God. God(s government flows from
prophetic worship )ased on the )eauty of holiness. God is restoring the spiritual weapons of
worship with intercession in prophetic worship. %he End of the Age government and power is
lin+ed to singers and musicians. %he 2avidic .hurch is one that functions as a house of prayer. 't
is remar+a)le how central singers are to the End of the Age drama.
&. .orporate intercessory worship is the 6ri$ar* $eans God has chosen to release His government
(power). 't is the highest e4pression of His government in time and eternity and is the most
powerful weapon that e4ists. 't is the front line of defense in our war against dar+ness.
.. 'n 2an. @- through fasting and prayer- 2aniel changed human government )y hindering the
demonic activity that energiAed evil government. 2avid understanda)ly saw this.
VII. JESUS INTERCESSORY PRINCIPLE AS A MAN (IN THE MILLENNIAL KINGDOM)

VIII. INTERCESSION EMBRACING WHAT MEN CALL FOOLISH AND WEAK
A. God has chosen to use the things that men consider as wea+ to triumph over the things that men
consider wise and mighty. God will use those who em)race the *so called wea+ness, of praying-
fasting- giving- serving and suffering persecution to triumph over human wisdom and might.
.

&. &ecause intercession is telling an invisi)le God what He tells us to tell Him- men consider this to
)e too wea+ and offensive to do (especially since it is so simple that everyone can do it). We see
God(s wisdom in sharing His government in a way that leaves no place for our glory or )oasting.
.. 'ntercession is a form of *voluntarily wea+ness, (as are fasting- persecution- giving- etc.).

I!. THE WEAKNESS AND WISDOM OF INTERCESSION THE BENEFITS WE RECEIVE
A. %he very fact that God chose the simplicity of intercession (so that all could do it) e4presses His
desire for partnership with us. He allows us to wrestle with Him and prevail (Gen. <:!:=#<@).
&. 'ntercession causes us to internaliAe God(s Word )y saying it )ac+ to Him throughout our life.
Each time we say what God says- it mar+s our mind and spirit and changes us. %his process
progressively renews our inner man. ' compare it to a computer programmer who rewrites

prayer can )e compared to *rewriting many lines of code, in our mind and heart.

5. 'ntercession renews our hope and faith as we continually spea+ God(s Word )ac+ to Him while
waiting for the release of His promises. 'ntercession unites our heart to the people and places that
we pray for. We love who and what we pray for . 'ntercession helps produce community with
people and ownership of God(s purposes in various cities and nations. 9ne reason that most of
the F% prayers are for the .hurch instead of the lost is so that we grow in love for the .hurch
that we tend to despise due to )eing overly familiar with it. An anointed .hurch will always
)ring many into the Bingdom (Acts $!@#:@).
G. %he process of intercession hum)les us so when God answers us we are protected from pride.
God is hum)le. He is the only 9ne who has )ased His entire government on humility. He has
chosen that His people would rule with Him in humility through spea+ing His simple words. %he
way that prayer functions e4presses humility. We spea+ God(s simple words )ac+ to Him. 9ften
our prayers are offered without feeling God(s power yet they ascend )efore God in power.
H. 'ntercession changes the spiritual atmosphere of cities and nations and thus prepares the way for
the presence of God. 't releases anointed ministry to )ring )lessing and deliverance to many.
'. 'ntercession ma+es a long term impact ()eyond this age). 9ur prayers for people and cities
continue to have an impact in the age#to#come. /rayers from history are stored in a )owl near
God(s %hrone (Cev. >!ED E!#?). 'ntercession gives us an *inheritance, in the people and places
that we pray for. %his inheritance )egins in this age and continues in the age#to#come.
J. 'ntercession positions us to receive freely from God rather than earning us God(s power. All
spiritual disciplines (prayer- fasting- meditation on the Word- etc.) are ordained )y God as a
necessary way to posture our heart to freely receive more grace. ?nalo(*! we put our cold heart
)efore the )onfire of God(s presence )y see+ing Him in the Word and prayer.
B. 'ntercession positions us to hear from God so as to o)ey Him that we might wal+ in our calling
and destiny. 'n intercession- we position ourselves to receive revelation from His heart for our
lives. 'n intercession- we receive revelation into the destiny of people (loved ones)- cities or
nations so that we may stand with them in contending for God(s fullness for them.
8. 'ntercession for others causes multiplied )lessings to return )ac+ on the life of the intercessor.
Every prayer of )lessing for another is a prayer that God returns )ac+ on you and your family.
%he law of the Bingdom re3uires that we always receive more than what we give away )y faith.

with humility- transforms with holiness- anoints with power- unifies in community- releases
revelation and increases our inheritance while it trains us to rule with His wisdom.
