Introduction:

The Joint Entrance Examination, popularly known as JEE, is jointly conducted by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT
Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharapur, IIT !adras and IIT "oorkee# This is a $%&year old examination' more

Joint -dmission Board is the body which is responsible (or (ramin all the polices co.erin/ eliibility (or

JEE&-d.anced examination shall be conducted exclusi.ely by IITs#
There shall be a suitable time ap between the JEE&!ain and JEE&-d.anced so that the results o(
JEE&!ain are a.ailable be(ore the JEE&ad.anced#
7nly the top +,$%,%%% candidates >includin all cateories? in JEE&!ain will be Buali(ied to appear
in the JEE&-d.anced Examination#
-dmission to IITs will be based only on cateory wise -ll India "ank >-I"? in JEE&-d.anced subject
to condition that such candidates are in the top 0% percentile o( success(ul candidates o( their

The increase in the number o( total reistered candidates in 0%+0 as compared to the same in 0%++ is

Interpretin the Aone&wise data o( reistered candidate o( 0%+0 and especially the comparison with 0%++
reBuires caution as there was a reoraniAation o( centers between Bombay, Delhi, and "oorkee so as to
control the increasinly unmanaeable numbers in the Bombay Aone# The openin o( centers in -lwar and
,ikar alon with the trans(er o( 9daipur to Delhi has eased the situation in Jaipur as e.idenced by the
reduction in Bombay by almost +%E# !adras has shown a tremendous jump, close to +$E increase, between
