V A L U E H E A L T H S O L U T I O N S Spending time in hospital can be an expensive ordeal, and not just because of the high cost of medical treatment. Have you ever given any thought to how you will replace the income you lose while youre lying in hospital unable to earn? These are costs your family will incur in your absence or which will come from your familys living expenses, should you be away from home for an extended period. The more you think about it, the more you will realise that the costs associated with being hospitalised extend much further than you could have imagined. So what can you do about it? Why do you need Old Mutual Hospital Cash Plan? To pay you a daily beneft in cash for each night you spend in hospital being treated by a specialist, payable from the second consecutive night. 150% of the daily beneft is paid if hospitalisation is as a result of an accident. This money can be used towards the unforeseen expenses that arise during your stay in hospital. Cover for you, your spouse and children is available too. Daily beneft choice of R200, R400, R600 with no proof of income is available to you, your spouse and your children or R800 or R1 000 if your monthly income is at least 15 times the daily beneft selected. Choice of fxed or annually escalating daily beneft. Compulsory Cover Increase option If you select this option, the daily beneft selected will escalate at a fxed rate of 6% per annum, with premiums escalating at a fxed rate of 10% per annum. Daily Beneft R200 R400 R600 R800 R1 000 Individual Contribution Per Month R70 R80 R90 R100 R110 Projected Cash Back Bonus R769 R879 R989 R1 099 R1209 Family Contribution Per Month R95 R130 R165 R200 R235 Projected Cash Back Bonus R1 044 R1 429 R1 813 R2 198 R2 582 Cash back bonus is 15% of 5 years worth of premiums Level Cover and Voluntary Cover Increase options On the Level Cover option your daily beneft and premiums will remain level over the period of your policy, unless you select to ination-proof your daily beneft by opting for ination-linked annual premium and daily beneft adjustments (the Voluntary Cover Increase option). This will help ensure the cover level you have selected remains relevant over the lifetime of your policy. Daily Beneft R200 R400 R600 R800 R1 000 Individual Contribution Per Month R95 R110 R125 R140 R155 Projected Cash Back Bonus R855 R990 R1 125 R1 260 R1 395 Family Contribution Per Month R130 R180 R230 R280 R330 Projected Cash Back Bonus R1 170 R1 620 R2 070 R2 520 R2 970 Cash back bonus irrespective of claims After your policy has been in force for fve years and all premiums due have been paid, you will be paid back 15% of the total premiums you have made over the period, regardless of whether you have claimed or not. And this repeats for every fve-year period that your policy is still valid. Now that is a cash bonus! Cash back bonus is 15% of 5 years worth of premiums General rules Anyone between 18 60 years of age may apply, with the family option allowing for one spouse and a maximum of 5 biological or legally adopted minor children of the policyholder to be nominated for cover. Cover for the insured family will terminate when the beneft limit for the family has been reached. Cover will cease for children upon reaching the age of 18 (or up to age 24 if proof of full time studying at a recognised tertiary institution is supplied). No proof of income is required for R200, R400 and R600 daily beneft amounts. For R800 and R1 000 daily beneft options, monthly income must be at least 15 times the daily beneft selected. For children under the age of 4, the beneft payable is 50% of the selected daily beneft. The total maximum allowable benefts over the life of the policy is 365 days per nominated family member, limited to 730 days in total per family. A 6-month general waiting period will apply to each nominated family member from the date of commencement of cover, unless the hospitalisation is due to an accident. A twelve-month condition-specifc waiting period will apply for each family member for hospitalisation due to birth or maternity and any pre-existing conditions for which any family member received treatment or advice, or could reasonably have known about, in the twelve months prior to becoming covered by the policy. The hospitalisation must be for treatment by a specialist and must be for a medical condition that can only be treated in hospital.
