Milad & Prayer at Tapus House (18/01/2014)

1. Surah Al-Fatiha

We have given you seven oft repeated verses and this sublime Qurn. (15: 87)
2. Soul breathed into the mothers womb by angel:
Narrated by Abdullah bin Mas'ud : Allah's Apostle, the truthful and truly-inspired, said, "Each one of you collected in the womb of his
mother for forty days, and then turns into a clot for an equal period (of forty days) and turns into a piece of flesh for a similar period
(of forty days) and then Allah sends an angel and orders him to write four things, i.e., his provision, his age, and whether he will be of
the wretched or the blessed (in the Hereafter). Then the soul is breathed into him
Divine Will (Al-Qadar) [77:593] Al-Bukhari (http://www.guidedways.com/book_display.php?translator=1&book=77&start=0&number=593#593)
3. What is Soul?

17:85 They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a
little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" Al-Isra [17:85]

4. All phases of life in one verse of Sura Hajj

22:5 (Asad) O MEN! If you are in doubt as to the [truth of] resurrection, [remember that,] verily, We have created [every one of] you
out of dust, then out of a drop of sperm, then out of a germ-cell, then out of an embryonic lump complete [in itself] and yet
incomplete [4] so that We might make [your origin] clear unto you. And whatever We will [to be born] We cause to rest in the
[mothers] wombs for a term set [by Us], and then We bring you forth as infants and [allow you to live] so that [some of] you might
attain to maturity: for among you are such as are caused to die [in childhood], just as many a one of you is reduced in old age to a most
abject state, ceasing to know anything of what he once knew so well. [5] And [if, O man, thou art still in doubt as to resur-rection,
consider this:] thou canst see the earth dry and lifeless - and [suddenly,] when We send down waters upon it, it stirs and swells and puts
forth every kind of lovely plant!
Note 4 (22:5 ) This rendering conforms with the interpretation of the phrase mukhallaqah wa-ghayr mukhallaqah by Ibn Abbas and
Qatadah (the latter quoted by Tabari and the former by Baghawi), alluding to the various stages of embryonic development, In addition,
Tabari explains the expression ghayr mukhallaqah as denoting the stage at which the embryonic lump (mudghah) has as yet no
individual life - or, in his words, "when no soul has as yet been breathed into it" (la yunfakh fiha ar-ruh). As regards the expression
"created out of dust", it is meant to indicate mans lowly biological origin and his affinity with other "earthy substances; see in this
connection the second half of note 47 on 3:59, and note 4 on 23:12
5. Created from dust;
take a spec of dust from the cornice & compare it with earth, that YOU compared to the Universe

20:55 (Asad) out of this [earth] have We created you, and into it shall We return you, and out of it shall We bring you
forth once again
18:37, 22:5, 30:20, 35:11, 40:67, where the Qur'an speaks of all human beings as "created out of dust".

3:59 (Asad) Verily, in the sight of God, the nature of Jesus is as the nature of Adam, whom He created out of dust and
then said unto him, "Be" - and he is.

6. Soul

It is he who created you from a single soul (7:189)

4:1 (Asad) O MANKIND! Be conscious of your Sustainer, who has created you out of one living entity, and out of it created its mate,
and out of the two spread abroad a multitude of men and women. And remain conscious of God, in whose name you demand [your
rights] from one another, and of these ties of kinship. Verily, God is ever watchful over you!
26:88 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children,

( 88:22 )
26:89 *and when+ only he *will be happy+ who comes before God with a heart free of evil!

Who is Allah and what is the Ruh

24:35 Allah, the Supreme Source is the One Light illuminating every heavenly and earthly realm. The Light of Allah is the window that
opens beyond all Creation. On the sill of this shining window rests the precious lamp of the human soul, whose flame is pure and
steady, protected by the transparent crystal of the heart that glistens delicately, like a star, with the souls light. This lamp, ignited by
Divine Love alone, burns aromatic oil from the Tree of Life, that transcendent Tree found nowhere on earth, neither in the East nor in
the West. This fragrant oil of wisdom radiates illumination spontaneously not needing to be touched by any earthly fire. Thus the light
of the soul and the Source of Light behind it blend, merge, and reappear in the mystery of eternal companionship, as the Light of Allah
within the Light of Allah.

Speaking this to humanity through the most subtle figurative language, the Source of Wisdom guides to enlightenment whomever He
wills, for Allah is the One All-Encompassing Awareness.
Nafas-Ar-Rahman Breath of the Merciful

15:29 (Asad) and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration!

32:9 (Asad) and then He forms him in accordance with what he is meant to be, and breathes into him of His spirit: [9] and [thus, O
men,] He endows you with hearing, and sight, and feelings as well as minds: [10] [yet] how seldom are you grateful!

As in 15:29 and 38:72, Gods "breathing of His spirit into man" is a metaphor for the divine gift of life and consciousness, or of a
"soul" (which, as pointed out in surah 4 note 181, is one of the meanings of the term ruh). Consequently, "the soul of every human
being is of the spirit of God" (Razi). Regarding the verb sawwahu - rendered by me as "He forms him in accordance with what he is
meant to be" - see note 1 on 87:2 and note 5 on 91:7

Every soul i.e. every human being, is ray of the Divine Light and power from the ever present Source
Fitrat-l Allah

30:30 (Asad) AND SO, set thy face steadfastly towards the [one ever-true] faith, [25] turning away from all that is false, [26] in
accordance with the natural disposition which God has instilled into man: [27] [for,] not to allow any change to corrupt what God has
thus created [28] this is the [purpose of the one] ever-true faith; but most people know it not.
Death

62:8 (Asad) Say: "Behold, the death from which you are fleeing [8] is bound to overtake you - and then you will be brought back unto
Him who knows all that is beyond the reach of a created being's perception as well as all that can be witnessed by a creature's senses or
mind, [9] whereupon He will make you truly understand all that you were doing [in life].

3:185 (Asad) Every human being is bound to taste death: but only on the Day of Resurrection will you be requited in full [for whatever
you have done] - whereupon he that shall be drawn away from the fire and brought into paradise will indeed have gained a triumph:
for the life of this world is nothing but an enjoyment of self-delusion.

Death is a tax the soul has to pay for having had a name and a form. Bowl of Saki, August 28, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

All that is constructed is subject to destruction; all that is composed must be decomposed; all that is formed must be destroyed;
that which has birth has death. But all this belongs to matter; the spirit which is absorbed by this formation of matter or by its
mechanism lives, for spirit cannot die.
From Volume XI - Philosophy, Psychology and Mysticism, http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/XI/XI_I_12.htm

That which the soul has borrowed he must give back when it has done its work; it was borrowed for a certain time and for a
certain purpose. When the purpose is fulfilled, when the time is finished, then every plane asks for that which the soul has
borrowed from it, and one cannot help but give it back to that plane. It is this process which is called assimilation. Since man is
born greedy and selfish he has taken all things willingly, enthusiastically -- he gives them back grudgingly and calls it death. ...
Death is nothing but the taking off of one garb and giving it back to the plane from which it was borrowed, for the condition is
this: one cannot take the garb of the lower plane to the higher plane. The soul is only released when it is willing -- or compelled -
- to give its garb to the plane it has taken it from. It is this which releases the soul to go on in its travel. And as it proceeds to a
higher plane, after its stay there it must again give its garb back and be purified from it in order to go further. ... This knowledge
also throws a light upon the question of death. Death is not really death; it is only a passing stage, it is only a change, as
changing clothes.

Diversity is Gods desire
(

111111 )
11:118 (Asad) And had thy Sustainer so willed, He could surely have made all mankind one single
community: but [He willed it otherwise, and so] they continue to hold divergent views'

(
42: 19. Allah is most kind unto his creatures, He gives provision to whom He wills. And He is the All-
Strong, the All-Mighty. 20. Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter - We increase for him his
harvest. And whoever desires the harvest of this world - We give him thereof, but he has no share in
the Hereafter.

Allah Speaks to every human being to Guide him/her

29:69, Those who strive in our cause, we guide in our Ways. For, behold, God is indeed with the doers of good.

91:1 CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness,91:2 and the moon as it reflects the sun!91:3 Consider the day as it reveals the
world 91:4 and the night as it veils it darkly!91:5 Consider the sky and its wondrous make 91:6 and the earth and al l its expanse!91:7
Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be,91:8 and how it is imbued with moral failings
as well as with consciousness of God! 91:9 To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity, 91:10 and
truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness].

(
42:51 (Asad) And it is not given to mortal man that God should speak unto him otherwise than through sudden inspiration, [52] or [by
a voice, as it were,] from behind a veil, or by sending an apostle to reveal, by His leave, whatever He wills [to reveal]: [53] for, verily, He
is exalted, wise. -
Hazrat Zakaria Ansari in his commentary on Risala Fit-Tawheed (Hazrat Wali Aslan Ad-Damesqui) said (P-27), A notion (Khatir,
) is received by the heart through the will of Allah (SWT). There are five types
1. Lordly notion Khatir Rabbani which is an inspired idea, al-hajis ; and intimate knowledge (al-ilm
al-ladunni is never wrong. This inspiration comes to those who know by direct experience (Ahl-al Arifin,
)
2. Angelic notion khatir malaki, , this inspiration/ilham belongs to Ahl-Al-Mujahada, people of striving and Ahl al-
Arifin
3. Mental or Intellectual notion Khatir aqlii, , this inspiration/ilham belongs to people of striving (Ahl-Al-Mujahada
and Ahl-Al-Arifin)
4. Sensual notion Khatir Nafsani, , this inspiration/ilham belongs to people of heedlessness (Ahl al-ghafla,
)
5. Satanic notion Khatir Shaitani, , this inspiration/ilham also belongs to people of heedlessness (Ahl al-ghafla,
)

( 24:24 )
42:52 (Asad) And thus, too, [54] [O Muhammad,] have We revealed unto thee a life-giving message, [55] [coming] at Our behest. [Ere
this message came unto thee,] thou didst not know what revelation is, nor what faith [implies]: [56] but [now] We have caused this
[message] to be a light, whereby We guide whom We will of Our ser-vants: and, verily, [on the strength thereof] thou, too, shalt guide
[men] onto the straight way

( 24:24 )
42:53 (Asad) the way that leads to God, to whom all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth belongs. Oh, verily, with God is the
beginning and the end of all things! [57] -

50:16 (Asad) NOW, VERILY, it is We who have created man, and We know what his innermost self whispers within him: for We are
closer to him than his neck-vein
50: 16. And certainly We created man, and We know what whispers to his soul, and We are nearer to him than his jugular vein.

(
50:17 (Asad) [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and
from the left, [11]
17. When the two receivers (i.e., recording Angels) receive, seated on the right and on the left.

( 81:05 )
50:18 (Asad) not even a word can he utter but there is a watcher with him, ever-present. [12]
18. He does not utter a word but there is with him an observer ready (to record it).

( 81:05
50:19 (Asad) And [then,] the twilight of death brings with it the [full] truth [13] that [very thing, O man,] from which
thou wouldst always look away!
19. And the stupor of death will come in truth; this is what you were (trying to) avoid.

( 81:55 )
81:55 (Asad) [and will be told:] Indeed, unmindful hast thou been of this [Day of Judgment]; but now We have lifted
from thee thy veil, and sharp is thy sight today!
22. (It will be said), Certainly you were unmindful of this. So We have removed from you your cover, so your sight is sharp today.
Prayer, Dua

( 8:128 )
2:186 (Asad) AND IF My servants ask thee about Me - behold, I am near; I respond to the call of him who calls, whenever he calls
unto Me: let them, then, respond unto Me, and believe in Me, so that they might follow the right way.

40: 60. And your Lord said, Call upon Me; I will respond to you. Verily, they who are too proud to
worship Me will enter hell, abased!

Seven Levels of Nafs or Ego

Nafs-al-ammara evil inciting soul 12:53
Nafs lawwaamah self-reproaching, complaining, blaming soul
Nafs-Al-mulhimah- inspired or enthused soul; balanced soul sawwa 91:7, 32:9, 87:2,

Nafs al-mutmainnah Blissful soul 89:27, 16:112
Nafs al-raadiah and nafs al-mardiah well-pleased and pleasingly self-content soul 89:28, 88:9
Nafs al-zakiyyah pure soul 35:18-19, 91:9

18:21 )
al-yusuf 12:53 (Asad) And yet, I am not trying to absolve myself: for, verily, man's inner self does
incite [him] to evil, and saved are only they upon whom my Sustainer bestows His grace. Behold, my
Sustainer is much forgiving, a dispenser of grace!"

75:2 (Asad) But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience
Allah is Everywhere

Al- Hadid, 57:4 And He is with you wherever you may be; and God sees all that you do.

Al-Anbiya 21:4, Say: My Sustainer knows whatever is spoken in heaven and on earth; and He alone is all-hearing, all-
knowing.

2:115 And God's is the east and the west: and wherever you turn, there is God's countenance. Behold, God is
infinite, all encompassing, all-knowing.
Allah knows your movements and how you dwell in your homes. Muhammad, 47:19

Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and for the men and women who
believe: for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes.

as Saffat, 37:96 it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?

11:107 for, verily, thy Sustainer is a sovereign doer of whatever He wills.
