When working at a gun range, safety is always the priority on the job. Accidents in the work place are fatal when working with machines specifically engineered to kill. No person may commence employment at this gun range until this document is read thoroughly with a manager. We value your safety and the safety of our customers. Precautions must be in place to ensure safety. If patrons have any questions or concerns, employees wear Just Glocks shirts and hats.
Chapter 1 3 Chapter 1 General Gun Safety When working at a gun range safety is always the priority on the job. Accidents in the work place are fatal when working with machines specifically engineered to kill. Employees at this establishment must familiarize themselves with all types of guns, due to the variety of guns allowed on the range. Employees must know: The locations of the safeties on guns (external and internal safeties). How to clear chambers. How to release magazines, clips, cartridges, and drums. What caliber round goes in the guns. How to properly hold a gun.
Sale of Firearms Employees working for the Just Glocks Company need to be updated on all of the Texas gun laws. Just Glocks specializes in selling Glock brand handguns. This is important because in the state of Texas it is unlawful for a gun dealer to sell handguns or handgun ammunition to any person that is under the age of 21, a convicted felon, intoxicated, or involved in a Class A misdemeanor that involved the family or household in which the person is related to. Employees at Just Glocks that do not abide by these laws are subjected to immediate termination of employment as well as full consequences of the law. At Just Glocks we ask that employees use their best judgment and refrain from the sale of handguns or ammunition to a person that seems emotionally unstable or expresses an intention to use the firearm in a crime. Any patron intending on buying a firearm from Just Glocks is required to show two forms of state issued identification to prove residency in Texas. These identifications include drivers license, passport, social security card, birth certificate and etc. These are some picture examples of each:

Chapter 2 7 Chapter 2 Range Safety Here at Just Glocks we have a covered range for patrons to practice and test different guns. The range may be accessed through the door just outside of the gun shop. Through the first door is a room for patrons and employees to prepare themselves to enter the range. This room has ear and eye protection available, both of which are required. The range has a preparation table where patrons may prepare guns, but may not load them. Guns are to remain unloaded until the patron is set in his or her lane. At the range we allow a wide variety of guns to be fired just with a few exceptions. At the range we do not allow rapid fire. Rapid fire is less accurate than that of a slower rate of fire; thus, increasing the chances for unintentional collateral damage to the structure at the range, dangerous ricocheting bullets, or an accidental shooting of a person in the range area. Rapid fire also makes the shooter less able to hear any orders being called by an employee or concerned patron. Another exception to the range is that multidirectional rounds are prohibited. When firing a shotgun on the range a patron must use a slug round and not buckshot to avoid ricochet. Any person caught using prohibited rounds will be asked to unload, clear their chambers, and leave the range. Below is an example of a slug and a buckshot round.
Slug Round for Shotguns (allowed) Buckshot Round for Shotguns (prohibited) Range Emergency In the case that there is an emergency on the range the employee must call an immediate seize fire. The attending employee must yell seize fire, safety and set down guns. When the gunfire has seized the employee my go out onto the range or wherever the emergency is. No person is permitted to leave unless in the case of evacuation. If a person has sustained a gunshot wound or killed by gunshot no person present at the range may leave until police have cleared them to do so. In a situation where a person is shot or injured it is the employees duty to call 911 and report the emergency immediately. The range will close immediately following an emergency and will remain closed until approved for reopening by management.
8 Just Glocks Safety Manual Targets Targets for the range are available for purchase inside the gun shop. The employee at the range is in charge of assigning lanes to the patrons and making sure that each person present has the opportunity to shoot in a timely manner. This employee helps avoid an overcrowded range. When an employee or patron wishes to enter the target area of the range, the employee attending the range must call out very audibly for all shooters to safety and set down their guns. When all of the shooters have complied with the orders of the employee, the employee will call clear and proceed through the door to the target area. When the employees and patrons are clear of the targeting area the employee may then call safe to shoot and that is when the shooting may resume. The only targets permitted on the range are paper targets that are mounted on a wooden frame. Patrons are welcome to bring their own personal targets as long as they are approved by the employee in charge of mounting targets. Targets that are not made of paper, for example: tin targets, clay birds, or aluminum cans are strictly prohibited. Any person caught using targets that are not paper will immediately be asked to unload, clear their chambers, and leave the range.

Chapter 3 11 Chapter 3 Customer Education At Just Glocks employees do not gain commission making the customer and their needs the priority. Educating customers about the gun they are buying is crucial to minimizing the chance of a fatal accident or improper results from the gun. An important aspect of owning a firearm is the education on how to properly take the gun apart, clean it, and then rebuild the gun properly. The customer must also be educated on the caliber of the gun and how dramatic the recoil might be. This will help a customer decide what caliber gun they will be able to handle accurately. As an employee here at Just Glocks it is essential to know what a person needs are for the weapon. The Glock Company make a variety of handguns each to be classified under different categories of use such as military, law enforcement, hunting, sport shooting, personal defense, enthusiast, women, and first time buyer. We must assess each buyer and determine which Glock is most suitable to their situation or occupation.
Glock 41 Gen 4 .45 auto Glock 19 Gen 4 9x19 (Military and Law Enforcment Use) (Personal Protection for Women) Concealed Handgun License When a customer is looking for a concealable handgun, employees should ask the customer if they have received their Texas state issued Concealed Handgun License (CHL). If not the customer may still purchase a concealable handgun, but employees should warn them that it is unlawful for the person to conceal the handgun and possess it in public without one.

12 Just Glocks Safety Manual Size and Ability to Conceal The size of a handgun is crucial to the buyer. We do not want to sell a high caliber gun to a person who cannot handle one, but we want to give the customer what they want as well. For example if a customer comes in to the shop and wants a .45 auto caliber gun an employee should encourage that person to try it on the range. If it is too powerful, but the customer insists on a gun that lethal the employee may suggest a 9mm instead. Also people who are looking for concealed handguns are looking for handguns that are small and can easily fit in bags, under clothes, or in a vehicle. These people will be looking for small guns.

Chapter 4 15 Chapter 4 Gun Malfunction In the case that a gun that is on the range or bought in for repair, fails to fire employees must know the procedure. First unload the weapon. Then proceed to clear the chamber with caution. Make sure that the muzzle of the gun is never facing you or another person in case of accident discharge of the firearm. When all of the rounds are clear of the firearm the employee may continue disassembling the gun and fixing the problem. In addition to fixing the firearm employees will clean and oil the gun as well to avoid future issues. In the case that none of the employees at Just Glocks is able to repair the firearm the customer will be notified and asked whether they would like us to send the firearm to the manufacturer (at their expense) or if they would like to take the firearm to another dealer. Below are examples or clearers one is able to use:

16 Just Glocks Safety Manual Unrepairable Firearm In the case that the firearm is damaged beyond repair an employee must discuss options with the owner. The owner may choose to take the firearm to dispose of it themselves or may choose to let use dispose of it. A firearm is never to be disposed of in the trash. A firearm can be salvaged for parts and what is left must be recycled. Below is an example of an unrepairable firearm:
