Written Test and/or Interview. IF ANY.
The candidates belonging to OBC -NON CREAMY layer category must submit
attested copies of the OBC caste and NON CREAMY layer certificate at the time of
written test and/or interview (in the prescribed format).

Please note the following:
The Written Test and/or Interview is scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on scheduled date & time. The
candidate must report at least 30 minutes before the commencement of Written Test and/or
Interview. The dates for Written Test and/ or Interview will not be changed.

Interviews for Departments will be conducted in the respective Departments. Candidates
are requested to report to the respective Head of Department on scheduled date & time.

For School, Centre and Interdisciplinary groups details regarding Place of Interview etc. are
given at the end of this letter.
Only those candidates who are called for Test/Interview under Teaching Assistantship will
be paid to and fro Second class railway fare by the shortest route from their place of
residence to the Institute.

For this purpose, they have to produce used railway ticket/photocopy of ticket in support of
their claims.The concern candidate has to fill only ONE TA claim, even if he/she has
attended more than one Written Test and/or Interview in different
Departments/Centres/Schools/IDPs.

Candidates with First class or 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. or
equivalent, applied for Ph.D. Programme under "Teaching/Research Assistantship"
categories MUST HAVE valid GATE score or CSIR/UGC/NBHM research fellowships,
failing which, they are not eligible for " Teaching/Research Assistantship " of the
Institute.
Candidate will be required to produce at the time of Written Test and/or Interview the
following certificates in original for verification.

Sponsorship Certificate (for Sponsored category students.) (if applicable)

Result of Written Test and/or Interview will be declared on website on 27
th
May 2014.
ADMISSION OFFER LETTER TO THE SELECTED CANDIDATES WILL BE SENT BY
EMAIL ONLY. THIS CAN BE TREATED AS " OFFICIAL DOCUMENT " FOR ALL
PURPOSES.

FURTHER, THE RESULTS OF WRITTEN TEST AND/OR INTERVIEW ALONG WITH
SPECIMEN COPY OF THE ADMISSION OFFER LETTER WILL BE PUT ON THE IIT
WEBSITE http://www.iitb.ac.in/newacadhome/phd.jsp FOR INFORMATION OF ALL.
If selected, the candidate will be required to pay fees, deposits and Hostel Rent { as
mentioned in the A.8) PAYMENT OF FEES AND DEPOSITS in Appendix C-1 of the Ph.D.
Information Brochure 2014-15 by way of Debit Card (ATM card)/Credit card/ SBI
Banking/Online Payment System/Demand Draft of any Nationalised Bank (preferably
SBI/Canara Bank) drawn in favour of "Registrar, IIT Bombay" payable at Mumbai branch
indicating your Name, GATE Reg. No., Choice, Birth category and Email ID on reverse of
the Demand Draft , to confirm his/her admission. The draft may be submitted in person to
Academic Section or sent by post to the Dy. Registrar (Academic), IIT Bombay, Powai,
Mumbai-400 076.
The Registration & Orientation Programme is scheduled on 11th July , 2014 to 16th
July 2014 and Instruction begins from 17th July 2014.

The Institute reserves the right to withdraw the admission AT ANY TIME, in case
candidate does not fulfill minimum qualification/required percentage of marks in
qualifying examination or supplies any false information.
