GENERAL DESCRIPTION Alstom Transport developed the MET Point Machine in Italy, MET means Manovra Elettrica in Traversa. The MET point machine is an electromechanical in sleeper (or in tie) point machine (switch machine in USA). In sleeper means that the mechanism (mechanical gears, rail fastening and motor) is integrated in a single box within the sleeper connected to a motor in a second box outside the track. .
APPLICATION The MET is a non trailable point machine, ideal for use in High Speed Lines although it is designed for all types of railway lines. A trailable version of the MET is available upon request.

TECHNICAL KEY FEATURES > Functional
The MET provides the main functions for a point machine (motorization, locking and controlling) with the following features: independent and direct locking for each blade (each blade is directly and physically blocked without using rods or other devices). The MET is designed for actuation by either relay logic or computer-based interlocking. An electronic controller is available on the MET to optimize current consumption over the different operations phases.
> Configuration
The electronic controller enables to set up the point machine in the most flexible way: a serial interface port is available to configure machine parameters. Left and right configurations are no longer necessary.

The MET allows the tamping with standard machine eliminating the manual tamping work. The MET does not request regular maintenance (no clutch)
