Argentina - Malting Barley 2014-2015 outlook

For 2014/2015 we expect growth of malting barley area of 8.6% and an increase in production of 11.7% over previous cycle.
In the past three years, the cultivation of Malting Barley in Argentina has surpassed the million planted hectares, with a
production between 4 to 5 million tonnes.
Contributed to this increase discouragement of farmers to produce wheat, lower water requirements and an earlier
harvest date, allowing an earlier introduction of corn or soybeans.
The following table gives a summary and, tentatively, the projection for 2014/2015
