Enslavement to an Addiction
Technology has made it possible for any person to access the internet not only for useful
standards, but for also personal use around the world. It is debated whether or not online
pornography should be legal since in most incidents, addicts to pornography seek curiosity in
discovering child pornography which is illegal. Online addicts are not only affecting themselves
mentally, but affecting the victims that are being recorded due to child pornography. The
addiction of online pornography creates problems to the addict by wanting the same women and
not realizing reality as well as insecurity between couples.
Online pornography can be found anywhere in the internet even by a simple spam that
leads to these sites and attract the human mind to become addicted by fantasying the perfect
woman. The addiction to online pornography guides users to fantasize about their partner that
keeps reality aside their mind, explained by Macmillan, But porn makes sex a fantasy. Too
much exposure to this fantasy can make consumers dissatisfied with their real relationships.
(Macmillan). Pornography sets a high standard for these men, in reality making it uncomfortable
and difficult for their relationships to work. Being addicted to online pornography also creates
physical problems to the human body as well as mental problems as being described by
Macmillan, Contributes not only to addiction but also to misogyny, pedophilia, erectile

dysfunction, and the quest for breast enhancement surgery. (Macmillan). Men chase women for
their perfect aspects seeing online pornography as their last resort to escape reality.
Nevertheless, couples are affected by online pornography due to the constant desire to watch
other women or men other than their own partner. Up to 80 percent of online porn consumers
were putting their relationships and jobs at risks because they were spending so much time with
online porn. (Macmillan). Not only were consumers putting their relationships at risks but also
their jobs since most users would tend to spend their breaks and work hours to watch online
pornography. The addiction to sex becomes immense due to online pornography that consumers
were not addicted to prior to watching pornography in the past. Online porn is offered twenty-
four hours a day, seven days a week and is known to be a perfect drug delivery system that
anybody can access through any computer or mobile device. (Macmillan). This increases
productivity to consumers and not limiting their addiction which persuades them to watch
material explicitly illegal.
The internet has made an impact on child pornography leading to consumers to indulge in
legal activity throughout the years. The control over the contents is put on the internet not
monitored due to its limitations, as Patrick A. Trueman encrypts, the former Chief of the Child
Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, Once bored of hardcore
adult pornography, users seek out ever more bizarre material and turn to child
pornography(Trueman). Trueman is saying that the same content over and over again leads
addicts to seek out more unusual habits such as child pornography. Child pornography is illegal
due to the minors that are present in the videos and the issue has been increasing throughout the
years. U.S. attorneys have seen the impact through many cases being brought out top them,
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the main sex exploitation offense referred to U.S.

attorneys shifted from sex abuse (73%) in 1994 to child pornography (69%) in 2006.
(Trueman). The shift from sex abuse to child pornography displays how much the internet has
played an influential factor to having access to child pornography. The exposure of pornography
to children also plays a factor in the developing brain throughout the years, The children
exposed to this show an abusive behavior different from children exposed by it. A total of 90
percent of children ages 8-16 have viewed pornography online. (Trueman). Most children have
the technology and easy access to freely explore online pornography; many become addicted and
contrast sexual behavior that rise in child-on-child sexual abuse occurs due to online
pornography. Some instances are that the victim himself/herself of child pornography can suffer
from online videos in the internet.
Victims of child pornography are affected physically and emotionally throughout the rest
of their life and nothing can be done to repair the damages that have been done. For instance,
Vicky, a victim of child pornography was recorded when her father sexually abused of her
when she was younger and the video went viral in the internet. Now, Vicky has lived throughout
the years being tormented everyday by the people who watch her video online and she is
constantly being reminded of the pain she endured. Although she is getting money from the
lawsuits, she knows that her physical and emotional problems will not fade away. Adriana
Chavez, a police and court reporter, explained, She wants them to pay for her therapy, the job
wages shes lost, the attorneys fees shes had to pay and for the trauma shes endured.
(Chavez). Vicky knows that these actions will not please her but instead her but instead damage
her fathers reputation and life because of her emotional scars. Vickys father was trialed and
now sentenced to prison to fifty years, but the video that was put on the internet will never be put
down. She fears that men who watch the video may to contact her or even look her up in social

media and torment her. The effects of child pornography caused her to not have a private and
social life with.
Online pornography is everywhere and can absorb anyone to become addicted.
Throughout time cases of online pornography will boom and control over the videos will be
exploited in the internet. Peoples lives are constantly affected by online pornography; their
work, relationships, and physical body begin being put aside and push in their addiction making
reality an image of imagination and false hope.
