ABSTRACT

A Higher Secondary School proposed at Lakhimpur Kheri, the biggest district
(area wise) in Uttar Pradesh was chosen as project. The school was planned &
designed as per laws laid down by CBSE for accreditation. The planning was
done, considering all aspects of the norms using Auto Cadd. The RCC frame
structure was designed using Bentley Staad.Pro & Beams (RAM CAD sys).
All the tedious calculations was done using staad. Estimation was also prepared
for the project.

Introduction

Education is very important and necessary part of everyones life, especially in
small and developing towns. A rural community tends to revolve around its
school. Town meetings occur in the auditorium or the school cafeteria and the
library often serves as the local library also. Residents attend the local schools
sporting events, cheering for the kids they know, which tend to be all of them. A
school play is an opportunity for the entire town to roll out its support and to
visit with all their neighbours, and because of its economic and social
implications, the loss of a school is often greeted with all the enthusiasm of a
funeral. So considering the necessity of education we decided to take a school
as our major project.
According to the rural assistance center, all school districts must maintain a
certain set of services no matter what the location facilities, staff,
transportation, and food services. It costs a small school more to provide these
services. Rural schools face many challenges in acquiring the financial and
human resources necessary to offer the quality of education students need.
Rural school districts have a harder time attracting and retaining teachers and
administrators.
Small schools are often seen as a stepping stone to schools where there is a
better pay, possibly fewer classes to prepare for and other perks. Rural districts
may have difficulty in offering advanced academic or vocational courses due to

9

financial crisis . Rural school districts faces consolidating schools due to
population loss or perceived cost saving measures.
The rural school and community trust centre for mid-western initiatives
recognizes the vital role a thriving school foundation can play in life of rural
community. In partnership with a community foundation or as stand alone
institution, school foundations provide much needed funding support engage
community member and relocated alumni with the school, and promote
meaningful partnerships.

Methodology

Over the course of the project we worked together to plan and design and
record as much of our expertise as possible related to setting up and
managing the project through this collaborative approach and the
software skills, which we gain in our academics.
the work started as part of the Steeple project, and continuing to this day
we had tried to make a project which can be proved as a mile stone in the
structural line and can become the focus and lead for international
cooperation and standardisation.

The key areas of project work were:
Communication and outreach by all members.
Effective Planning.
Stable and Economical design.
A Proper learning Outcome.
The planned work was broken down into discrete areas, and then
distributed amongst the contributing partners based upon their own
specific interests and resourcing. We led on the policies and process
work, building on their long standing background as a high production
value, high quality, method driven institution, though they also worked
to compare and contrast our different approaches to the same
problems.

12

We scaled up the work done on Auto Cad ,STADD Pro aggregation
of content and promoting the use of open standards, because this
has allowed each of us to work towards an exciting common goal -
one that supports philanthropic aims of the project on which we are
working on.
Firstly we scaled our work on Auto CAD, on which we did the
planning work. In which we plotted our plan according to the norms
of CBSE.
After planning on CAD then we drafted the plan on the STADD.PRO
for structure analysis according to which the structural drawings
were made after finalising the reinforcements.
According to the result of the report of STADD.PRO the details of
the elements of a building was decided.
As in the report of STADD.PRO we drafted the structural drawing
on AUTO CADD.
Structural drawing contains the details of all elements of the
buildings such as the details of beams, columns, slabs, and
foundations.
After the detailing of beams, columns, and slabs the upper structure
was complete, the foundation details were designed using STRAP
foundation software by RAM CADSYS was used and according to
the results given the structural drawing of the foundation was
finalized.
Lastly after finalizing the structural drawing, the estimation of the
building was done by calculating the quantity of materials and the
rates given by PWD.
