How Can Vowels Be Useful f You Are An T

Professional?
Vowels can help you succeed in IT sector. As strange as it may
sound, it's true! These alphabets form the basis of principles that
can help you develop yourself as an individual and as a part of a
team and by extension- the organisation. Development of people
and self are essential components to succeed in T.
The success and failure of any organisation depends on the
quality of its workforce. t's how you grow and develop along the
business, leadership and technology domain that contributes
greatly to the growth of an organisation. However, people
development initiatives often face a lot of challenges; scalability in
larger organisations and prioritisation in smaller ones. An
environment that fosters self development in an organisation can
greatly help in curbing these challenges. Even you can contribute
to your own self-development by following certain principles:
The AEIOU Framework
Shantanu Paknikar, general manager Solution nitiatives,
Happiest Minds Technologies Private Limited, highlighted the
AEOU Framework for self-development. According to him,
leveraging the AEOU Framework can greatly help an individual
foster self-development.
Let's understand this framework:
'A' is for Awareness: t's imperative to be aware of your
surroundings, what's happening around in your team. t can be
followed as a one-on-one exercise; you can have a set of 10
questions framed to assess your level of awareness. The
threshold marks of 8/10 would mean that you can move on to the
next block 'E', otherwise you need to focus more on awareness.
'E' is for Enthusiasm: Just being aware would not help. t's also
essential to be enthusiastic to participate in what's going on. t's
your enthusiasm and excitement levels that triggers action. The
exercise here is to assess the fact that whether you have
translated your awareness into enthusiasm.
'' stands for nvolvement: Awareness and Enthusiasm needs to
translate into nvolvement. A score of 4 out of 5, after the exercise
to assess your involvement levels, would mean you can move on
the next level.
'O' stands for Ownership: Your real growth and by extension- your
organisation, happens only when you start taking ownership. A
score of 4 out of 5 is required to move on to the next block 'U'.
'U' stands for the Ultimate Goal: Awareness, Enthusiasm,
nvolvement and Ownership are important, provided they result in
the ultimate goal, which is growth. Growth can either be tangible
or intangible. "As you scale up to higher levels in the team, you
might find yourself at the bottom if the AEOU ladder, again and
again. Therefore, climbing this ladder has to be a continuous
process; that would ensure constant growth for you, Paknikar
stated.
"You need to understand that your growth depends on your
team's growth, and how you influence, contribute and impact the
same. AEOU provides a framework to help you influence and
impact your team's growth, he concluded.
