1 Introduction to the APM30H
1.1 Background
The APM30H, an advanced power module cooled by the built-in heat exchanger, is designed
to operate in low-air-quality areas where heat dissipation of the cabinet always deteriorates
due to dust block. In addition, the APM30H can work with the diesel generator. In one word,
the air quality has little impact on the performance of the APM30H.
1.2 Product Positioning
The APM30H targets at the countries and regions with poor air quality.
The APM30H provides a comprehensive solution for distributed base stations and separated
macro base stations in terms of the following aspects:
Power distribution
Surge protection
Installation of the BBU and transmission equipment
Cable connections
DC power backup
The rollout of the APM30H meets the requirements of fast network construction.

2 Features of the APM30H
2.1 Functions
The APM30H applies to the distributed base stations and separated macro base stations. It
provides space for installing the BBU and transmission equipment. The APM30H performs
the following functions:
-48 V DC power and battery backup power supply
Battery management
Surge protection
Monitoring and communication of the power system
Temperature control
The IBBS200T, an integrated battery backup system with a TEC cooler configured on the
inner side of the cabinet door, is adaptable to high ambient temperature. In this way, a normal
operating temperature can be guaranteed for the batteries, and the life span of the batteries can
be prolonged. The IBBS200T can provide a maximum backup power of 48 V 184 Ah.
The TMC11H, an 11-U-high transmission cabinet cooled by a built-in heat exchanger,
provides nine DC power inputs and a space of 11 U for the transmission equipment.
2.2 Installation Mode
The APM30H can be installed on the rooftop or concrete floor. It can be also installed with
the IBBS200T or RF cabinet in stack mode.
2.3 Environment Adaptability
In structural design, the APM30H can protect itself from the damage caused by the water,
moisture, mould, corrosion, and theft. The holes in the exterior of the APM30H cabinet
help prevent the entry of foreign objects into the cabinet. The APM30H is applicable to
the outdoor environment.
Heat dissipation of the APM30H is based on the heat exchanger system that consists of a
core and two air circulation fans. This can effectively avoid the invasion of dust. The
APM30H can also work with the diesel generator.
The APM30H can protect the AC power supply socket against lightning stroke.
Therefore, the APM30H can be installed on a rooftop, on a mountain top, or in the

remote rural area where lightning strokes frequently occur or electromagnetic
interference is strong.
The built-in rectifier of the APM30H can work within a wide range of AC voltages. The
input voltage range corresponding to the rated power of the rectifier is from 176 V AC to
290 V AC.
The APM30H has a good control of internal temperature and works at a temperature
ranging from -40C to +50C.
2.4 Maintainability
The cables are led out from the bottom of the APM30H cabinet. You can replace faulty parts,
maintain the external ports, and connect the cables from the front of the APM30H. The
rectifier and the monitoring modules are hot-swappable. This facilitates maintenance for the
APM30H.

3.1.2 Functions of the APM30H
The APM30H applies to the distributed base stations and separated macro base stations. It
provides space for installing the BBU and transmission equipment. The APM30H performs
the following functions:
-48 V DC power and battery backup power supply
Battery management
Surge protection
Monitoring and communication of the power system
Temperature control

Table 3-1 Functions of the APM30H
Item Description
Installation space for the
transmission equipment
The APM30H provides a space of 2 U to 7 U for installing the
transmission equipment.
Built-in PSUs

The PSUs convert the input AC mains into -48 V DC power.

The PSUs are hot-swappable.
Built-in PMU

The PMU manages the PSUs and the charge and discharge of
the batteries.

The PMU provides an RS485 communication port and the
port for seven Boolean alarm signals for remote and
unmanned monitoring.

The PMU supports the battery low voltage disconnect
(BLVD) and load low voltage disconnect (LLVD) functions.

The PMU is hot-swappable.
AC power distribution

The APM30H provides an AC/DC built-in power system.
When configured with a suitable power distribution box, the
built-in power system can support different input power such
as 220 V single-phase AC input, 220 V three-phase AC
input, and 110 V AC dual-live-wire input.

The built-in power system provides two AC power outputs.
Surge protection for the
power supply and signal
ports
In the APM30H, the lightning protection circuit is designed for
the dry contact alarm ports, the communication ports, and the
built-in lightning protection module at the AC/DC power
supply ports. In this way, the APM30H provides safe and
reliable surge protection and inductive lightning protection.
Heat dissipation The core of the heat exchanger and fans in the APM30H work
together for heat dissipation. Therefore, the APM30H is
adaptable to the variation of ambient temperature.
Grounding The grounding bus of the cabinet, the grounding cable of the
surge protector, and the grounding cables of other devices are
connected to the grounding bar of the cabinet.
DC power distribution The PDU configured for DC power distribution varies with the
AC input mode and application scenario. For details, see Table
3-2.

Table 3-2 describes the DC power distribution functions of the APM30H working with the
distributed base station.

Item Description
Alarm reporting

The TMC11H provides three ports transmitting three pairs of dry contact alarm
signals for remote and unmanned monitoring.

Dry contact port 1: connects to the door status sensor. An open circuit indicates
that the connection is faulty, whereas a closed circuit indicates that the
connection is normal.

Dry contact port 2: connects to the surge protection unit on the DCDU. An open
circuit indicates that the connection is faulty, whereas a closed circuit indicates
that the connection is normal.

Dry contact port 3: connects to the alarm output port of the TMC11H.

Heat dissipation

The TMC11H dissipates the heat by using the core of the heat exchanger and outer
and inner air circulation fans.

Environment Adaptability

The TMC11H protects itself from dust, adapting to the adverse ambient
environment. It can be also used with the diesel generator.
