COURSE DESCRIPTION
The student will demonstrate competency by integrating geometrical, and algebraic
concepts. Calculators will be used in plotting functions, analyzing data, simulating
experiments. The students will be presented with enough trigonometry and circular
functions to constitute a standard pre-calculus course in trigonometry
GRADING POLICY
30% Common Assessments, 10% Final, 30 % Homework, 30% Quizzes.
1. Common Assessments may be retaken once and the scores will be averaged. In
the case that the average is below 70%, the higher score will be taken up to 70%.
Students must complete any re-take within 7 days of the original test.
2. Final may be retaken only if the student scored below 60%. The student may
retake the final up to 70%.
3. Homework may be re-worked for full credit until the last 2 weeks of the class.
4. Quizzes may not be retaken.
Units of study
1. Triangle Trigonometry: Angles and degree measure, trigonometric functions
of acute angles, trigonometric functions of general angles, values of
trigonometric functions, solving right triangles, the law of cosine, the law of
sine, solving general triangles, areas of triangles
2. Trigonometric graphs: Radian measure, circular functions, periodicity and
symmetry, graphs of sine and cosine, graphs of the other trig functions.
3. Trigonometric Identities: the fundamental identities, trigonometric addition
formulas, double-angle and half-angle formulas, formulas for the tangent
