AARP Foundation Job Description

Title: Project Coordinator, SNAP



Position Summary:
The National Project Coordinator, SNAP will coordinate AARP Foundations SNAP (Food Stamp) outreach and application assistance efforts in select
counties with a focus on enrolling people age 50+, with a special emphasis on those 60 and older. Primary responsibilities include relationship
cultivation and site selection for field work, site training and management, as well as direct service. The National Project Coordinator will
also assist with oversight of the SNAP Call Center.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute SNAP outreach and application assistance project with Program Analyst, Hunger.
Identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with outreach sites and sponsors in targeted counties.
Train, schedule, oversee, and evaluate performance of AARP Volunteer SNAP Corps.
Provide technical assistance (telephonic or in-person) to AARP Volunteer SNAP Corps members and community partners in the field.
Schedule application assistance clinics at outreach sites in targeted counties; circulate schedule with volunteers, call center staff, and other
community partners.
Train, schedule, oversee, and evaluate performance of Customer Service Representatives.
Provide technical assistance (telephonic or in-person) to Customer Service Representatives.
Schedule Customer Service Representatives (and volunteers when needed) to staff Food Stamp Call Center.
Represent AARP Foundation at community functions (e.g., public health fairs).
Attend quarterly Georgia SNAP Workgroup meetings
Serve as primary project liaison to Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Family and Children Services
Monitor federal and state policy to ensure barriers to access and/or opportunities for improvement are being communicated to Georgia
Department of Human Services Division of Family and Children Services, and the AARP Foundation team.
Perform the functions of a SNAP Corps Volunteer.
o Including, but not limited to, distributing information, pre-screening clients for eligibility, and providing direct application assistance as
well as logging the activities listed above.
Help oversee the work of the Georgia State Office SNAP VISTA and work in a coordinated way on SNAP outreach in the state.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Commitment to AARP Foundations mission serving vulnerable people 50+ by creating solutions that help them secure the essentials and
achieve their best lifestyles and vision a country that is free of poverty where no older person feels vulnerable.
Previous experience with community outreach preferred.
Experience or familiarity with SNAP preferred.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Effective communication skills for interactions with state officials, outreach site hosts, volunteers, and older Georgians in need of SNAP
benefits.
Computer and web application literacy (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Georgia COMPASS).
Willingness to travel throughout select Georgia counties.
Access to reliable insured vehicle (work-related mileage is reimbursed), current GA drivers license with good driving record.
Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
Associate Degree or higher.

Project Coordinator, SNAP will maintain a workspace in the AARP Georgia office, but up to 50% of the work conducted by the person in this
position will be in the field. Mileage is reimbursable at $0.55 per mile. Air travel, when necessary, will be covered by AARP Foundation in
advance.
