Wilmington, May 20, 2002 -- Today, Ion Track Instruments (ITI) announced that it

The VaporTracer

units will be used to provide an additional level of
security to identify potential high-risk threats. The implementation
represents a significant investment in safety and security technology in
response to the heightened threat of terrorism against U.S. interests.
Under Department of Defense Directive 3224.3, responsibility for
testing and evaluating explosive detection systems is assigned to the
Secretary of the Navy for all branches of the U.S. Military Services.
"Explosive detection equipment is an important tool in the fight
against terrorism," said Nicholas P. Lakis, Logistics Manager for Naval
Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS)/Chief of Naval Operations N34
Force Protection Division. "The addition of this technology will
continue to improve the Navy's overall force protection posture."
The Navy announced that Ion Track Instruments is being awarded a

contract was competitively procured by the Naval Surface Warfare
Center, Crane Division, Crane, Ind.
"ITI is, and has been, committed to developing the most advanced
trace detection technology solutions to protect our country and
the members of our Armed Forces," said Anthony Jenkins,
President of ITI. "The U.S. Navy is clearly a leader in explosive
detection research, and we are very pleased ITI's VaporTracer

was the only device selected after withstanding the rigorous
scrutiny of the Navy's laboratory testing and field trials."
