Srinagar Gulmarg Sonmarg Pahalgam Katra (Vaishnodevi)
JAMMU
Jammu, the second-largest city in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
This is the city of temples and is also an important trade centre
and a convenient stage on the road journey to Srinagar. The famous
Raghunath Temple, situated at the city centre consists of seven
shrines, each with tower. The interior of the temple is decorated in
gold. Its main sanctuary is dedicated to Vishnus eighth incarnation
and Dogras patron deity the Rama.
SRINAGAR
Srinagar is located in the heart of the Kashmir valley and spread
on both sides of the river Jhelum. The Dal and Nagin lakes
enhance its picturesque setting, while the changing play of
the seasons and the salubrious climate ensures that the city is
equally attractive to visitors around the year. Its waterways with
own quaint lifestyle, the unique Houseboat, the blossoming
gardens, shopping for lovingly handcrafted souvenirs and the

GULMARG
Gulmarg the meadow of fowers, is an apt term indeed for idyllic
fower-laden meadow situated at a distance of 52 kms from Srinagar.
The towering peaks above the meadow are covered with dense

each other to touch the azure skies. An equally popular destination in
summer, it is also known for its lush green golf course, which is the
highest in the world. A must is fun-flled ride in the newly introduced

Sonmarg the Meadow of Gold, is situated in the Sindh Valley.
The drive to Sonmarg presents yet another spectacular facet of
countryside in Kashmir. The fast fowing Sindh River makes it popular
for trout and mahseer fshing in summer. Highly recommended is a
pony ride to one of the glaciers for some fun in the snow and ice.

fulfllment to millions of devotees from all the world. Popular belief
holds that anybody who walks the Himalayan trail to her abode to ask
for a boon, rarely goes back disappointed.

In Srinagar Day Excursion to Gulmarg (52 kms / approx. 2 hours drive)
This morning, proceed to Gulmarg, the fower-laden meadow offering
a spectacular view of snow capped peaks. Later, return to Srinagar.

On to Katra (270 kms / approx. 8 hours drive)
This morning drive to Katra where you will check into your hotel

term for this idyllic fower-laden meadow offering a spectacular view
of towering snow capped peaks covered with dense forests of tall
conifers, gigantic frs and pine trees. Later, on arrival check into your

On to Srinagar (52 kms / approx. 2 hours drive)

In Katra Trek to Mata Vaishnodevi (14 kms one way)
As per your own preferred time, proceed to Banganga from where you
will trek up the Mata Vaishnodevi Temple on your own. Every day of
the year, a mass of humanity surges up steep pathways that cut across
the hillside for mile after mile. There are many who journey here to
pay obeisance regardless of their faith, class, caste or religion, for
Mata Vaishnodevi transcends all such barriers. Return to your hotel
after Darshan.
Day 3
On to Patnitop (70 kms / approx. 2.5 hours drive)
Today depart for Patnitop. On arrival into Patnitop, check into your

beauty of Patnitop.
Day 4
On to Pahalgam (180 kms / approx. 5.5 hours drive)
Today depart for Pahalgam, the valley of shepherds which is situated
at the confuence of the streams fowing from the river Lidder and

In Pahalgam
The day is at Leisure to admire the beauty of this quiet place. One
can enjoy a pony ride to nearby place like Chandanwari (on direct

On to Gulmarg (145 kms / approx. 5 hours drive)
This morning, proceed to Gulmarg driving past willow trees, fast
fowing streams and lush green meadows. Gulmarg the Meadow of
Flowers is an apt term for this idyllic fower laden spot, offering a
spectacular view of towering snow capped peaks covered with dense
forests of tall conifers, gigantic frs and pine trees. On arrival, check-in
to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. You may wish to stroll
leisurely across the green meadows to one of the worlds highest
Golf Course. You may also wish to take a fun-flled ride in the

followed by the famous Mughal Gardens Chasmashahi, Nishad and

infuenced by the Persian gardens particularly the Charbagh
structure. These gardens were where Mughal emperors once relaxed
with their exquisite queens and even today are popular picnic spots.

Leh, the capital of Ladakh is a fascinating destination. Age-old
monasteries, quaint lanes, colorful markets and stunning views of
the Himalayas make Leh an exotic destination. Trek through the
mountainous terrain of Ladakh, enjoy a game of polo in a high
altitude arena or watch an archery contest where local residents
compete in a contest that remains unchanged by time. Attractions in
and around the town include the former Palace and Namgyal Tsemo
Gompa, perched amid strings of prayer fags above the narrow dusty

Shiva. In front of the temple is unique Mahadev-ka-Vishal Trishul

In Uttarkashi Day Excursion to Gangotri (100 kms / approx. 3 hours
drive)
Today, you will drive to Gangotri, situated on the right bank of River
Bhagirathi. On arrival, take a holy dip in the sacred river and then
perform pooja. Around 100 yards from the Ganga temple, fows the
river, Kedar Ganga and this point is known as Kedar Ganga Sangam.
Later, return to Uttarkashi.
Day 6
On to Rudraprayag (228 kms / approx. 8 hours drive)
This morning drive to Rudrapayag, situated at the holy confuence
of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, a unique beauty of its own and
it seems as if two sisters were embracing each other. En route visit

Today, visit Mana Village. Inhabited by an Indo-Mongolian tribe, it is
the last Indian village before Tibet. Vasundhara, as the name suggests,

of which, 2 kms is motorable up to Mana. Later, visit Bhim Pul, on the
other side of Mana Village, a massive rock forming a natural bridge
over the roaring Saraswati River. Vyas Gufa (cave) is a rock-cave where

PUNAKHA
Punakha served as the capital of Bhutan and is also the winter seat
of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot. There are splendid views of the distant
Himalayas at Do Chula pas (alt. 3,050 m) on Thimphu Panache road
and in spring and early fall, the route is covered in various fowers.
The second Dozing built by Shabdrung, in 1637, is open for visitors
during Punakha festival and in summer months when the central
monastic body moves to Thimphu.

Paro valley is one of the most scenic places in Bhutan and abounds in
rich culture, architecture, religious relics, myths and legends.
It is home to Bhutans oldest temples, the picturesque National
Museum, monumental fortresses and has the countrys only airport.

GANGTOK
Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim and is famous for its many
important monasteries, picturesque views of the Himalayas. It
houses sites like Do Drul Chorten, the Enchey Monastery and the
marvelous collection of orchids in the Orchid Sanctuary. Tshangu Lake
is regarded extremely holy and one of the major tourist attraction.
Rumtek exhibits Tibetan monastic art in Sikkim known for its unique
traditional architecture, beautifully carved and painted woodwork and
splendid murals.
DARJEELING
Perched in the foothills of the Himalayas and surrounded
by tea plantations, Darjeeling is the legendary British hill station
situated at 2134 m above sea level and is blessed with a cool climate
and a panoramic view of the Himalayas. It is most famous for its
magnifcent tea estates. Major attractions of Darjeeling include Tiger
Hill from where one gets to witness the spectacular sunrise over

Bhubaneshwar, the capital of Orissa, is also popularly known as the

boasted of more than 2000 temples. Bhubaneshwar is the place

CHANDIPUR

KONARK
One of the worlds greatest marvels and a priceless gem of Orissan
art, the Sun Temple at Konark has drawn a veil of mystery around
itself. Built in honour of Surya, the Sun God, in the 13th century,
the temple is built in image of the chariot of the Sun with 7 horses
(depicting 7 days of the week) and 12 pairs of wheels (depicting
the 12 months). What remains today is part of the original massive
temple, in fact, only the entrance hall, which is 39 meters high, the
Dancing Hall, and ruined temple. Even today the sun rising from the
ocean shines on the three images of the morning sun, the mid-day
sun and the evening sun at different parts of the day.
LALITAGIRI
The earliest Buddhist complex dates back to the 1st century AD
and Lalitagiri forms an important node of the diamond triangle i.e.
Lalitagiri, Ratnagiri and Udayagiri. Well connected by excellent roads
to Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar, recent excavations here have brought
to light signifcant archeological material that upholds Lalitagiri as a
great centre of Buddhist attraction.
NRUSINGHANATH
Located in the sacred Gandhamardan Hills, which according to
legends, Hanuman carried on his shoulders from the Himalayas as
described in Ramayana, the temple at Nrusinghanath is an important
site of pilgrimage. It is also an exceeding fascinating and a beautifully
located temple worth the journey to this rater remote spot. The
Oriya and Devnagari inscriptions on the temple indicate that this
temple was built in the early 15th century AD. On the Nrushimha
Chaatrurdasi day (in May) a big fair takes place here and thousand of
pilgrims visit the place to worship.
PURI
Puri is the hallowed seat of the Hindu religious deities and one of
the four most important religious centres of the Hindus. Puri, situated
on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, is a city of lovely beaches, golden
sands and gentle sunshine. It is possibly one of the few religious
cities that provide the outdoor pleasures of sea and beaches
along with religious piety of darshan a sanctifed experience of
divine communion. The Jagannath Temple is an important place of
pilgrimage for the Hindus. Adjoining the temple is the Ananda Bazaar
or food bazaar, where food for thousands of pilgrims is cooked and
sold daily.
RATNAGIRI
Lying 100 kms from Bhubaneshwar, the city of Ratnagiri is encircled
by rivers, namely Mahanadi, Brahmani, Kimiria and Birupa. Numerous
Buddhist structures have been unearthed from the nearby hill ranges

and the excavations carried out at Ratnagiri links the city to the
6th century AD Gupta dynasty.
SAMBALPUR
Sambalpur district is situated in Western Orissa, approximately
321 kms from Bhubaneshwar. Once an important centre for the
diamond trade, it is now known for its textile industry. Not to be
missed is a visit to Hirakud Dam on the Mahanadi river.
An engineering marvel, this is the longest dam in the world and
the largest dam made of earth.
SIMLIPAL
The Mayurbhanj district of Orissa is the home to one of the most
important National Parks not only in Orissa, but also in the country.
Spread over an area of 2,750 sq. kms. the park was specially chosen
by Project Tiger for continuing the onerous task of conserving the
countrys depleting tiger population. This tiger reserve now has over
95 Royal Bengal Tigers within its lavish bounds. Over 230 species of
birds and other wild life species such as leopards, elephants, mugger
crocodiles and numerous reptiles abound here. Simlipal also provides
succor to thousands of tribal people living on the fringe, thus giving
an opportunity to witness the tribal culture.
TAPTAPANI
Set amidst thick forests, Taptapani is known for its hot sulphur spring
said to contain medicinal properties for many a cure. The hot water is
channelised to a pond nearby to facilitate people have a bath.
The water is also piped directly into the bathrooms of the Panthanivas
(tourist bungalow).

BHOPAL
Bhopal represents a harmonic symphony of old and new. The old city
is a maze of narrow streets, crumbling palaces, colourful markets and
beautiful mosques, whilst the new city is amongst the greenest cities
of India. Major attractions include the Taj-ul-Masjid, Bharat Bhawan,
the Tribal Habitat Museum and Van Vihar a safari park. Sanchi is

PACHMARHI
Pachmarhi is a lovely hill resort surrounded by low lying rugged hills,

KANHA NATIONAL PARK
The Kanha National Park covers an area of 940 sq.kms and it is one

the rare barasingha, the Swamp Deer. There are 175 varieties of birds
in Kanha. The park remains open between 1st Nov. to 30th Jun.
JABALPUR
The capital city of the Gond Kings, Jabalpur offers the prime
attractions such as Madan Mahal Fort, the Rani Durgavati Memorial
and a museum. The marble rocks at Bhedaghat rise to a hundred
feet on either side of the river Narmada.
These white rocks with views of black and dark green volcanic
seams are truly majestic and have quite a magical effect on
moonlight nights.

KOVALAM
Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and true to its name
the village offers an endless sight of coconut trees. This cove is
also the safest place for swimming. At many coastal places there
are beautiful patches of coral reefs. The underwater views, which
are visible during snorkeling, are really marvellous. Surfng and
swimming are among the other water sports possible in Kovalam
beach. An excursion to Padmanabhapuram, the old palace of Rajas of
Tranvancore gives one the opportunity to see the dome of Keralas

Kozhikode formerly known as Calicut was the traditional capital of
Northern Kerala. It is said that the name Calicut is derived from the

Wayanad is one of the districts in Kerala that have been able to retain

Welcome aboard the Deccan Odyssey. After completion of all the
formalities, you will be given a traditional Indian welcome and a

and the Deccan Odyssey shall depart Delhi for Agra.

Day 2
Agra
Arrive at Agra, After breakfast on board, visit the Taj Mahal, the worlds
most wonderous monument and a heritage site. Proceed to Agra Fort,
another example of Mughal architecture and the seat of Mughal reign
and administration for three generations. Lunch at a City Hotel. After
lunch visit the fabled red sand stone deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri.
One of the earliest examples of Islamic architecture with Hindu and
Jain decorative art. You will visit graceful buildings within, such as the
magnifcient Jama Masjid, the tomb of Salim Chisti, the Panch Mahal,
Five-storied Palace, the Diwane- Khas, Hall of Private Audience and
other palaces. Return to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner and your
onward journey to next city.

Jaipur
Arrive Jaipur.After breakfast visit the Amber Fort overlooking the
beautiful Maota Lake. En-route to Amber Fort visit the Hawa Mahal,
famous for its intricate pink sandstone carving . Continue your visit
to City Palace. Walk to the adjacent Jantar Mantar, the astronomical
observatory and wander around the local markets. Lunch at a City
hotel. Return to the train for relaxation . In the evening, enjoy
a Gala Dinner at an offsite venue. Post meal, return back to the
Deccan Odyssey for an overnight journey.

Day 4
Sawai Madhopur
Arrive Sawai Madhopur. Enjoy an early morning breakfast before
you set out for your morning game drive at Ranthambore National
Park to spot a tiger.Return to the train for lunch and a short rest
before your next adventure into the jungle. When youre done with
the jungle, have high tea at Sawai Madhopur Lodge. Post high tea,
head back to the train where you can relax before dinner on board,
as the train sets off for next destination.

Udaipur
Arrive Udaipur. After breakfast on board, visit the City Palace,
a majestic edifce built in buff coloured sandstone to massive
proportions and the City Palace Museum which houses the
spectaculat Crystal Gallery. Later, you will take a boat cruise on Lake
Pichola and visit the marvellous Jag Mandir Palace, situated in the
middle of the lake. Return to the train to enjoy lunch on board.
Have a restful evening and dinner on board.

Day 6
Aurangabad
Arrive at Chalisgaon, near Aurangabad. Breakfast will be aboard the
Deccan Odyssey, giving you a peaceful and relaxed morning. After
an early lunch, visit Ellora Caves, a World Heritage site, carved into
the side of basaltic hill. The site encompasses 34 rock-cut shrines
representing Buddhist, Jain and Hindu art. The most remarkable is the
Kailash temple. Return to the train at the railway station where it will
be stationed for the night.
Day 7
Ajanta
After breakfast on board, visit the Ajanta Caves, another World
Heritage site and an architectural marvel of its time. The 30 rock-
hewn Buddhist cave have been masterfully carved and are adorned
with sculptures and paintings of Buddhist religious art, depicting
pictorial art and are known to depict the fusion between Buddhist
and Hindu faith. Return to the Deccan Odyssey for an on board Lunch.
Depart on an overnight journey towards Mumbai.
Day 8
Disembark in Mumbai
Early this morning, after breakfast, you will disembark at Chhatrapati
Shivaji Terminus Railway Station, Mumbai. Bid farewell to the Deccan
Odyssey as your royal passage through the grand vistas of India
comes to an end.

shrines representing Buddhist, Jain and Hindu art. The most remarkable
is the Kailash temple, meant to be a replica of Shivas celestial abode
at Mt. Kailash. It is the best example of rock cut architecture and an
engineering marvel. Return to Aurangabad from where you board the
Deccan Odyssey and have lunch. The rest of the day is for relaxation and
indulge yourself at the spa. In the evening enjoy dinner on board. Late
evening the train departs for an overnight journey to Jalgaon, which is
alighting point for the Ajanta Caves.
Day 3
Ajanta
After breakfast on board, visit the Ajanta Caves, another World
Heritage site and an architectural marvel of its time. The 30 rock-
hewn Buddhist caves at Ajanta have been masterfully carved and
are adorned with sculptures and frescoes, portraying in epic form
the religious and secular life through eight centuries. After your
exploration of the Ajanta Caves, you return to the Deccan Odyssey for
an on board Lunch. End the day with a splendid dinner on board as
we travel overnight towards our next destination.
Day 4
Udaipur
Arrive Udaipur. This morning after breakfast on board, visit the City
Palace, a majestic edifce built in buff coloured sandstone to massive

Then proceed to 16th century heritage house of known as Menezes
Braganza House. Further proceed to Madgaon Railway Station to

Arrive at Daulatabad station.Visit Daulatabad Fort, once known as
Devgiri, this fort served as the head quarters of the powerful Yadava
rulers. Next stop is Ellora caves, a World Heritage site, having 34 cave
temples dedicated to three different religion- Hinduism, Buddhism
& Jainism. The most imposing is the magnifcent Kailasa Temple
(Cave 16) which is the largest monolithic structure in the world.
Lunch & free time. After lunch see; Bibi-ka-Maqbara, a replica of
Taj Mahal. Free time for shopping Paithani, Himroo, Bidriwork.

Ajanta Caves & Nashik
Arrive at Jalgaon railway station. Proceed to visit Ajanta Caves which
