LDC Report . . . By Rodney Trinidad

th
The 4 annual LDC (Leadership Development Conference) held at St. Paul’s in Castle Hill on
23rd February was “A fantastic day!” according to a youth leader from Norwest Community
Church. It not only was a wonderful opportunity to bring youth leaders, pastors and delegates
together from all over Sydney, Newcastle and the South Coast, but also it was our biggest con-
ference to date with 140 attendees from 25 churches. We shared our passion, lives and minis-
tries together, listened to God’s Word, praised Him in song and prayer; and learned from each
other the joys and struggles of serving in youth ministry. This year’s theme was “The Art of
Discipleship…Reproducing Lives.”

Our main speaker was Tim Hawkins, one of the most experienced Christian youth pastors in Australia. During the four
main sessions we learned “What It Means to be A Generation Changer,” “A Mission that Will Last,” “What to Teach
Growing Disciples,” and “Youth Ministry Based on Biblical Principles.” Leaders walked away from the conference
with a renewed passion, thirsty to get back to their ministry, encouraged by God’s Word and excited about the possi-
bilities of seeing lives changed by understanding that ‘The Art of Discipleship…Reproducing Lives’ is found in Jesus
and living by His Word.

The Garcia’s Family Furlough Plans . . . By Martin Garcia

A question that I am often asked is, “Does Word of Life pay you a salary?” My response
shocks many people when I explain to them that we are self-supported missionaries; in
other terms, we have to raise our own support to serve with the ministry. My family and I
believe that the Lord has called us to ministry; with that “calling” we have trusted God for
His faithful provision and, friends, He has never let us down!
Another question I am often asked is, “Why travel to the US?” Five years ago, my family
and I began the faith journey to rely upon the provision of God through churches and individuals in the US as
well as in Australia. The purpose for this trip is to visit and report to the churches and families the awesome
ministry the Lord has entrusted to us to do in Australia.
Prayer Requests: Please pray that God will give us traveling mercies and protection.
Please pray for our children’s education during the eight months of furlough.
Please ask the Lord to provide our full support since we are not fully supported.

PTL for Speaking Opportunities . . . By Jim Dugan

We praise the Lord for the many opportunities that our staff have to preach the Word of
God in many churches, camps and youth groups. Last month I had the privilege of
speaking at Lighthouse Alliance Church for three weeks. Lighthouse is a young church
made up of second generation Vietnamese. The church is without a pastor and asked me
to speak on “Godly Leadership in the Local Church.” I also had the opportunity to speak
at Gungahlin Community Baptist Church in Canberra when their Pastor Randy Perkins,
who is a close friend of mine, announced to the church the diagnosis of his cancer.
This month I will be speaking at St. Johns Park Bible Baptist Church and at Emmanuel Baptist Church. All of
our staff consider it a privilege to preach the Word of God and our calendars are filling with different speaking
opportunities. Please be praying for all of us as we study and proclaim the Word of God. If you are looking for
a special speaker, email or give the office a call.
