ITS HARVEST TIME AT GARDEN OF HOPE

It is the Lord who provides the

This year has been particularly

busy year for our farming activities. We planted eleven acres of
corn which is now being harvested. We started preparing
the land and the soil for cultivation in April and actually planted
in May. Finding permanent farm
workers has not been easy but
we managed to work with temporary farm workers with two
permanent staff who managed
and supervised the work on the
farm. Apart from the corn, we
planted five acres of hot pepper
which are doing well. We have
planted 1,000 plantains which

workers next year. Also, we
made over 8,900 mounds of
yams which are growing well.
We send some of our produce
to Sunyani Prisons for Male
and Female and Keep the rest
for our orphanage and the
school feeding program.
The future looks bright with
possibilities of raising poultry,
livestock and growing cocoa.
Plans have already been laid
out for those projects to start
before the end of the year.
God help us!

It is the Lord who sets the time to

THE REST OF AFRIHOPE MISSIONS STORY IN GHANA

afrihope christian church & prison
program
The church has not been growing as anticipated. The
good thing is that the number of children attending Sunday service has been growing gradually which gives the
church a better future if programs for the children are
sustained and improved.
The Prison ministry has been doing very well and this
may be attributed to the fact that at the beginning of the
year, Gov. Leader started to donate money to buy more
food for the prisoners. This was done in exchange for
more Bible study and worship time in the prisons. The
donation of food has definitely increased and improved
the food ration for the prisoners. Consequently, the
number attending Bible studies and worship services
throughout all the 5
prisons has gone up
dramatically which the
prison officials are
very pleased.
For I was hungry, and
you gave me something to eat.I was in
prison and you came to me .

house of hope orphanage

The House of HOPE Orphanage has a new
manager in the person of Ms. Victoria Aboagye. She started in August 2012 and has
been doing well so far. She is a graduate of
one of the Diploma granting Polytechnics
and holds a Higher National Diploma with
experience in catering. Ms. Rejoice who
started with the House three years ago left
in July to go take care of her sick mother
and she was replaced by Ms. Georgina Fobi
who was the recording clerk at the Blocks of
Hope. She has been temporarily reassigned to the House until a permanent
replacement is found.
The children are back in school after a
months recess. They are doing well and
growing well. The children at the orphanage received dental screening recently from
a young dental student who was on a temporary training assignment at the Regional
Hospital in Sunyani. We have 19 orphans
in our care at this moment.

fountain of hope drilling program

The Fountain of HOPE drilling program experienced problems
with the compressor for one of the Stinger 30 rigs. A used engine was purchased for installation which will be up and running
by the end of the first week of October and the team will be
back to work. The Schramm is still waiting to be fixed so that
rig can go back to work. The needed parts have been identified
and they will be purchased as funds become available. We
hope to get it up and running shortly. We started the year off on
a great footing and steady speed but we were slowed down by
mechanical problems which we are gradually but surely fixing
them. AfriHOPE Missions has two rigs ready to go to work.
Our mission is to give water to rural folks but our ultimate mission is to bring them the living water , the Fountain of Hope
(which is Jesus) which springs forth in people when they have
Him and will never thirst again. Churches and other organizations are encouraged to donate $3,500.00 and AfriHOPE
will drill a well in a rural community and name it after the
church or the individual who
donates toward a well. How
would you want your name to
be associated with a well
where revival could spring up
and spread to a whole town like what happened at Jacobs Well
in Samaria (John 4).

breakfast for underprivileged school children

The school breakfast program is
going very well. We feed 200
school children with breakfast
everyday school is in session.
We spend five hundred dollars a
month to feed 200 poor school
children per month. Teachers
and even our own staff who take
the meals on wheels to the children at their schools have been
asking if the program could be
expanded to include more children. As the Lord provides opportunities for funding we will expand
the program to include more children.

blocks of hope
The Block factory has been doing quite well
this year. The factory provided over 4,000
blocks in January when we started building
the Childrens Hospital. As we approach the
second phase of that project, the factory has
made another 3,000 blocks to finish the
ground floor. Besides what have been made
for us, they have made several thousand
blocks for outside clients. The goal is to create jobs for some of the young men in that
community. With recent increase in fuel and
petroleum products in Ghana, prices of cement and sand have gone up which makes it
impossible to make anything out of the production. I am happy if we break even so that
the employees will be able to feed their families and take care of the childrens education.
The ability to earn some income from a job to
feed family boosts morale and self-esteem of
those who have suffered a flaw in their self
image because of poverty. We are empowering people one person at time by helping
them assume responsibilities as real people.
God has good things in store for us and so
we will keep pressing on until we get to Gods
promise to us.

talents of hope
The Talents of HOPE
Microfinance program is
still alive but not quite well.
There are currently about
23 clients who are actually
benefitting well from the
program.
The current
Loan Officer for the program, Ms. Cecilia, is doing
quite well collecting the
money and tracking down
defaulted clients. Ms. Cecilia seems quite optimistic
that through prayer, hard
work and persuasion, she
will be able to retrieve
some of the money from
defaulted clients. It is only
a matter of time and the
Lord will give back to us all
that seem to have been
lost. I am convinced that
He will restore to us a
hundredfold of all that
Satan has stolen from us.

fashion of hope
Thank God, Fashion of HOPE program is
continues to expand. We have just added
another woman to the 6 existing trainees
who are learning to become seamstresses so
they can work on their own
to earn some living to
support their families. By
the end of October 2012,
we may need to include a
daycare facility next door
since the number would
increase to include 3 infants. One of the
trainees had a baby a month ago and another trainee has a baby that is on the
way. The female trainer is also, expecting
her first child by the end of the month. Our
prayers are with the expectant mothers for
safe delivery and return to work. We are
thankful to Gov. Leader who donated ten
sewing machines and tables and chairs
which enabled me to fulfill this part of my
dream for young grade school dropouts
most of whom are women who have no
skills or job prospects of any kind. God

bless those who consider the needs of the

poor and may the lord measure unto such
folks the same measure they used which is
pressed down and shaken together to the
point of overflowing so they
may continue to be guided
by their faith to reach out to
those who live outside the
walls of the city of hope with
some love. We may be hard
pressed at times but we are
not discouraged. We will
keep on keeping on. Esther
and I have learned to put forward our best
foot first at all times and in doing our best as
missionaries to rural folks, we may suffer
abuse, we may be pushed down occasionally, we may be deceived and disappointed
once a while but one thing we have learned
so well is to focus all our attention on God,
rid ourselves of al unnecessary distractions,
keep our minds stayed on the Lord, trust
Him fully and expect great things from Him.
He has promised and He will surely do it.
We are convinced that even if we have to
fail in anything we must fail faithfully.

celebration
Christmas in Ghana can be gloomy for some
children who come from poor families. For
some children, getting a Christmas meal is not
something they look
forward to. Every year
for the last 4 years, we
have organizes a party
for over a thousand
children in our
neighborhood on
Christmas Day and for prisoners the next day.
We hold Bible quiz and other fun activities for
the children and at the end of the program we
give them clothes to take home. This is the
only party you attend to have fun and then
receive a gift rather than giving a gift to the
one who celebrates His birthday.
