Quick Lessons for Lasting Life Change


The Values Formation Program of the Philippine government
and other groups agrees with the command of Jesus Christ (or
Isa al-Mashi of the Qur'an) to teach all nations to obey all that He
commands (Matthew 28:18-20). That is why, whatever religion a
Filipino may belong, the following studies can help him not only
know but also have the power to obey the golden rule—to love
his neighbor as himself:

9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do
not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may
be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
10 Love does no harm to its neighbour. Therefore love is the fulfilment of
the law.” (Romans 13:9-10)

We will learn to love if we will understand how much God has loved and
forgiven us (1John 4:19; Luke 7:47). The following lessons aim to help you

yourself.

Only THE MESSIAH can save you! In


the beginning, He was already with the
one God and Father. 7 Being His Word,
He came from the Father but was not
created by Him. Instead, through Him, the Father
created all things. 8 For this reason, the Father also
called Him GOD 9. The ancient Scriptures predicted that
He will be BORN OF A VIRGIN 10 and will have to suffer
—DIE FOR OUR SINS 11 and BE RAISED FROM THE

DEAD . As Lord, He will sit down at the right hand of
the Father and judge the world 13.
There is only one person who claimed to be the
Messiah whom God affirmed to be so by raising Him from
the dead—Jesus. He appeared to more than 500! 14

That is why JESUS MUST BE YOUR MESSIAH—Lord


and Savior from sins and hell. He promises:
“HERE I AM! I STAND AT THE DOOR AND
KNOCK. IF ANYONE HEARS MY VOICE AND
OPENS THE DOOR, I WILL COME IN AND EAT
WITH HIM, AND HE WITH ME.” 15
Some, in opening their hearts, prayed this way:
“Oh Jesus, You rose from the dead. I open the door of
my life and receive You as my Messiah—Lord and Savior
from sins and hell. Through the ability that God's Spirit
gives, I shall turn from sin and follow You as Lord.”
Does this prayer express the desire of your
heart? … If it does, pray it right NOW . . .

Did He come in as He promised in the verse above?

2. Did the Savior Really Rise from the Dead?
… if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and
believe in your heart that God A RAISED Him from the
dead, you will be B SAVED. (Romans 10:9)
According to this verse, what do you need to believe in
order to be saved? That God A ___________ Jesus from
the dead.
EVIDENCE THAT JESUS DIED
When Jesus was on the cross, “30 …. He bowed His head and gave up His

SPIRIT.33… He was already dead, they did not break His legs (finding it
unnecessary). 34Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear,
bringing a sudden flow of blood and D WATER” (John 19:30-34).
According to doctors, this indicates that Jesus died when He had “heart
failure due to constriction of the heart by fluid” that surrounded it. That how
the soldiers knew that He was indeed dead.
What are two proofs that Jesus truly died?
1. He gave up His C _________

Even His friends knew that He died. Later, Mary Magdalene even
thought that some have stolen Jesus body (John 19:38-20:2).
EVIDENCE THAT JESUS ROSE FROM THE DEAD
If He just fainted, it would have been very hard for Him to get out of strips
of linen wrapped around His body with about 75 pounds of myrrh and aloes
(John 19:40). That wrapping had already become hard the third day. His
body then looked like a mummy. Like Lazarus, “His hands and feet were
wrapped with strips of linen …..” For Lazarus, some people had to “Take
off the grave clothes” to “let him go.” (John 11:44).
There are other things that could have made it harder for Him to get out.
There was a stone about 4,000 pounds at the entrance of the tomb.
Guarding the tomb were Roman soldiers who were the mightiest soldiers at
that time. Whatever group would move the stone, it would have broken the
seal (Matthew 27:66) on which was the face of Pilate. Doing so would be
fighting the Roman Empire. Nevertheless, an angel who was not afraid of
Pilate rolled the stone thereby breaking the seal. When Mary Magdalene
arrived, she “*saw the stone already taken away from the tomb” (John 20:1
NAS). (See the drawing at the top.)
The soldiers were bribed to say that the BODY WAS STOLEN: `His
disciples came during the night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’
(Matthew 28:13).
This is very illogical for two reasons: First of all, if the guards were
asleep, how were they able to know who had stolen the body?

Secondly, if the body was indeed stolen, why did the thief (or thieves) leave
the tomb in order? The “burial cloth that had been around Jesus’ head... was
folded up by itself...” (John 20:7). Have you heard of a thief leaving what
he stole in order? …
The body was not stolen, but PASSED THROUGH “THE STRIPS OF
LINEN” (John 20:6). Having seen those strips rolled up by themselves
without a body inside, John finally believed the “Scripture that Jesus had to
rise again from the dead” (John 20:7-8).
“...you will not … let your Holy One see decay.” (Psalm 16:10; Isaiah
53:10)

Indeed, the fact that the guards told that the body was stolen was an
evidence that it was no longer in the grave. The folded burial cloth on His
head, the large stone raised up and the broken zeal are evidences that
the body was not stolen by fearful disciples. The hardened linen
wrappings without the corpse and Jesus' appearances to many
witnesses (John 20:10-19; 1Corinthians 15:3-8) are evidences that he
indeed rose from the dead!
Jesus’ ability to pass through physical objects was also witnessed by
Thomas - one who initially doubted (John 20:24-25). ‘26A week later….
Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said,
“Peace be with you!” 27Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see
my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and
believe.” 28Thomas said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:26-28).
Some say that Thomas just surprised. Do you agree? ______.
If he was just surpised, Jesus could have rebuked him for using the name
of God in vain (Exodus 20:7). Instead, ‘... Jesus told him, “Because you have
seen Me, you have D BELIEVED; blessed are those who have not seen and
yet have believed.”’ (John 20:29) According to this verse, was Thomas
surprised or did he believe? He E _______________.
Because Jesus rose from the dead: (1) With faith Thomas called Him Lord
and God; (2) Jesus will judge you (Acts 17:31); (3) Jesus is the Son of God
(Romans 1:4)

Read Romans 10:9 at the start of the lesson again. Now do you believe
that Jesus is the Son of God whom God raised up from the dead?... Have

3. Did the Savior Fulfill Predictions?

you are saved, IF you hold firmly to the word I preached to
you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed
on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to

day according to the Scriptures,” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
To be sure that you are saved, to what message must you believe and

Jesus felt the emotions you had in the foregoing verses. Before He

There are medical cases where the anguish of the soul became so
extreme that the tiny capillaries in the head burst and the blood mixed with

05a. Jesus Suffered for You!
This is the truth that can have the greatest positive impact in your life. I
say this because it is true to the lives of millions—including mine:
Though I was quite religious before I trusted Christ alone for my salvation,
I was a sinner, a slave of sin (Ro 3:23; Jn 8:34) and of Satan (2Ti 2:24-26), my former
father (Jn 8:44). For each sin I have done and will be doing, I deserve God’s
wrath (Ro 1:18), eternal separation from Him (2Th 1:6-10 NAS) and torment in a place
of fire and deep darkness (2Pe 2:17 & Jude 13). Yet Christ loved me so much that
He left all the glories of heaven, took the form (Ph 2:6-7) of a poor carpenter and
SUFFERED FOR ME IN ALL AREAS: mental, emotional, social, physical
and spiritual.

MENTALLY and EMOTIONALLY, as seen in His prayer before He was


crucified. He said, “Father... remove this cup from Me; yet not My will...” “And
being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like
drops of blood, falling upon the ground” (Mt 26:36-39; Mr 14:32-36; Lu 22:41-44).
SOCIALLY, He suffered too. His own people gave Him to the godless
Roman soldiers. Friends forsook him. He was shamed (He 12:2) publicly.

PHYSICALLY, He suffered also in many stages: He was not given a


chance to sleep. He was forced to travel from Gethsemane to Annas
(Jn 18: 13), to Caiphas (Jn 18:24; Mt 26:57; Mr 14:53), to the council elders (Lu 22:66), to
Pilate (Mt 27:2; Mr 15:1; Lu 23:1; Jn 18:28), to Herod (Lu 23:6-7), back to Pilate (Lu 23:11),
and finally to Golgotha (Mt 27:33; Mr 15:22; Lu 23:33). Some spat on His face.
Others blindfolded Him and beat Him with their fists. Still others
slapped Him (Mt 26:67; Mr 14:65; Lu 22:63). They also scourged His shoulders, back and
legs with flagellum (Mt 27:26; Mr 15:15) (which had sharp, jagged pieces of bone lead
woven to long leather thongs of various lengths). They did this until the skin
of His back was hanging in long ribbons; His veins were laid bare, trickling
with blood (1Pe 2:24) and His muscles, sinews and bowels exposed. Roman
soldiers wove a crown of thorns around His head and gave blows
on His face and kept beating His head (on which the crown was
placed!) with a reed (Mt 27:29-30). Four to six hundred soldiers spat on
him (Mt 27:29,30; Mr 10:34; 14:65; 15:19; Lu 18:32). The sputum was so dirty that His whole
body got more infections. He bore a 110-pound crossbar for sometime but
was so weak that another man was forced to carry it for Him (Mt 27:32; Mr 15:21; Lu
23:26). He refused to drink anesthetic wine mixed with myrrh and gall (Mt 27:34; Mr
15:23) that He may fully experience what I deserve for my sins (Pr 31:6-7). Seven-
inch iron spikes were driven through His forearms and heel bones . . .

On the cross, He experienced arms’ fatigue, with great waves of cramps


sweeping over the muscles, knotting them down in deep, relentless,
throbbing pain. There He was also dizzy, thirsty, starving, and had traumatic
fever and tetanus. The unnatural position made His every movement
painful. The lacerated veins and crushed tendons throbbed with incessant
anguish. The wounds, inflamed by exposure, gradually gangrened. The
arteries, especially at the head and stomach, became swollen and

oppressed with surcharged blood. While each variety of misery went on
gradually increasing, there was added to them the intolerable pang of
burning and raging thirst. He had a shock and constriction of the heart that
He finally, in rupture of the heart, gave up His physical life. That’s why when
He was pierced at the side, blood and water came out (Extra-Biblical data were taken from
Josh McDowell's books: The Resurrection Factor, pp. 41-49; and Evidence that Demands a Verdict, Revised Edition, pp. 196-199).

Worst of all, He suffered SPIRITUALLY: Before He died physically, on the


cross, He cried out, “My God... why have You forsaken Me.” (Aw 22:1-3 Mt 27:46 Mr
15:34). When He died physically, His soul went to the dark and lowest pit in hell
(Ac 2:22-28; Ps 116:3; 88:6,11,12,18). There, as waves, God's wrath came upon Him in fire
and the torture of demons (Re 6:8; Ps 88:7,15-17; Jonah 2:3). He had no strength (Ps 88:4).
He had no friends; only enemies (v.18). He prayed but there was no indication
that He will be answered nor even be remembered by God (v.1-2,5,9-14).
As a Christian, I have a new nature that hates sin (Ro 7:15). This gives me an
idea, though partial, on how much suffering He received, Him who knew no
sin (2Co 5:21), when He carried all of my sins, including the guilt associated with
each! And it was not just my sins that He took, but also those of the whole
world at all times (He 10:12)!! The Father and the Holy Spirit had no choice but
to forsake Him and place God's entire wrath upon Him (Isaiah 53:4; Mt 27:46; Mr 15:34;
Isaiah 53:10)!!!

He endured all of these in view of the joy (He 12:2) of seeing THE GOOD
THINGS that would happen after He defeats Satan and his demons and
after I RECEIVE HIM. Now I have received every good thing that can be
said about my spiritual condition! Everything I need to live a godly life has
been given to me already (2Pe 1:3; Ep 1:3)! God considers me as as righteous as
Christ (Ro 5:1; 2Co 5:21)!
Yes, because of what He has done and will be doing to me, I presented
my body to Him as a living sacrifice. HOW ABOUT YOU? What Christ did
for me, He did also for you. Have you trusted Him for you salvation? ... If you
haven’t done it yet, trust Him now… Have you given your body to serve Him
and others? If you have not, tell Him something like this:
“Heavenly Father, because You have given Your Son for me, I will
love You with all my heart, mind, soul and strength. Lord Jesus, My
love for my loved ones will now become hatred in comparizon to my
love for You(Lu 14:26; Mt 10:37). I will follow You. I will love others as I love
Myself. That You can use me for others’ well being, I will continue to
study to obey the Bible (Ezr 7:10), pray and join others who believe in You.
I will also seek someone to be my companion who will hold me
accountable in my walk with You. I will accept them just as you have
accepted me. I will remember that God causes all things to work
together that all of us may be more like You (Ro 8:28-29,37). Since that group
will help strengthen Christians and save souls, I will give to helping
that group one of my highest priorities. As you enable me, I will allow
You to use me to save, heal, free and restore others to You.”

To get pleasure, I sought entertainment through
o violent and occultic animation (anime) or cartoons such as those which

o interaction (conversation, play, intercourse) with dwarfs, ghosts, fairies

God, I shall no longer look for spiritual knowledge, direction, power,
acceptance and comfort except from you. Cleanse me of all defilement I
got from demonic territories. Help me destroy all my properties related
to the worship of demons (Deuteronomy 7:5; 1John 5:21).

with Him in heaven. That is why, later, “… God will bring with Jesus those
who have fallen asleep in Him…For the Lord Himself will come down from
HEAVEN…” (1Thessalonians 4:13-18).

You will no longer experience separation from God (Isaiah 59:2) or death
(Romans 6:23). Instead,
“… God has given us F ETERNAL life, and this life is in His Son. He
who has the Son has life; He who does not have the Son of God does not
have life. These things I have written to you… that you may G KNOW
that you HAVE eternal life” (1John 5:11-13)

8. Have You Identified Yourself with
Christ Publicly?
You might ask: “Do I still need to be baptized to be saved?” or “I
was baptized already when I was still an infant, isn’t that enough?”
or “I was baptized as an adult, do I have to be baptized again?”
This lesson answers each of these:

Expecting believers to be baptized, Jesus commanded his disciples, 15


"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16
Whoever believes and is A BAPTIZED will be saved, but whoever does not
believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16)
1. What are the two kinds of persons according to Jesus?
a. He who believes and is A _______________ and will be saved.

Some misunderstood this passage to mean that baptism is a condition


before one could be saved. Such is not the case, otherwise:
• The repentant thief on the cross could not have been saved. But Jesus

23:43). Later, his legs were broken that he died (John 19:31-32). That
day, He went with Jesus to paradise.
• Paul would have been sent to baptize too, but he was not. He said:
“…Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel….”
(1Corinthians 1:14,17)
In obeying this command, Paul said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel,
because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who
believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” (Romans 1:16)

However, Jesus asked John to baptize Him, "Let it be so now; it is


proper for us to do this to FULFILL ALL righteousness."(Matthew 3:15).
2. If baptism is not a condition to be saved, then why should you be

like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his

When a believer is baptized, he is immersed in water and the dirt is removed


from his body, reminding him that his conscience is cleansed from sins. He
is buried in water declaring that his old life died and was buried with Christ.
As he comes out of the water, he confesses that he rose with Christ to a live
a new life of a disciple, following Him.

36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the
eunuch said, “Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?” 37 Philip
said, “If you E BELIEVE with all your heart, you may.” The eunuch
answered, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” 38 And he gave
orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into
the water and Philip baptized him. 39 … they came up out of the water…

10. Have You Received the Holy Spirit?
If you have received Jesus, you have already received the
Holy Spirit: “.... if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he
does not belong to Christ.” (Romans 8:9). You are like the
disciples after Jesus breathed on them after His resurrection.
He commanded them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:22).

Try to determine if you have received the Holy Spirit in this way: After
Jesus ascended to heaven, they received the Holy Spirit in a different way.
“44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all
who heard the message. 45 ... the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out
even on the Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and
praising God. Then Peter said, 47 "Can anyone keep these people from
being baptised with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we
have."” (Acts 10:44-47)
Peter here was referring to their reception of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:1-4:
They ‘1 were all together in one place. 4All of them were filled with the Holy
Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.'…
Have you received the Holy Spirit in a way that you were filled with the
Holy Spirit and He controlled even your tongue?

The Apostle Paul explains how to be filled with the Spirit:


18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be
filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and

SPIRITUAL songs. Sing and make music in your B HEART to the

LORD, 20 D ALWAYS giving thanks to God the Father for E EVERYTHING,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 F SUBMIT to one another out of
reverence for Christ. (Ephesians 5:18-21; Jeremiah 23:9)

Does this prayer express your heart's desire? … If so, pray it right now...

“14 For if I pray in a G TONGUE, .... 15 ...I will pray with my spirit … I will
sing with my spirit.... 2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not
speak to men but to God. Indeed, no-one understands him; he utters
mysteries with his spirit..... (1 Corinthians 14:14,15,2).
2. How can you speak in spiritual songs? In a G ____________ which no-

3. Why should you speak in a tongue you do not understand? Because God
commands me to :

Are you afraid to receive a demon to speak in a tongue you do not


understand? To answer such fear, remember that a demon is called a snake
or scorpion in Luke 10:19. Now consider Jesus' promise for you:

11"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake
instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then,
though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how
much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit...." (Luke 11:11-
13) and other “good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11).
4. Now if you ask God for the Holy Spirit so that you can speak in a tongue
by which you will be edified and kept in the love of God, what will He give?
o a demon; o the Holy Spirit. Therefore, touch your belly and expect
rivers giving life to others to flow from it (John 7:37-39). Pray:
Heavenly Father, give me the Holy Spirit now in a way that I will speak
in a new tongue with which I can edify myself and keep myself in the love of
God. Thank You that You will not give me a demon, in Jesus' name.”
Express your faith that the Holy Spirit already has given you utterance
(Acts 2:1-4). In Jesus' name, speak in a new tongue (Mark 16:17) which you
have not spoken before...
Ask God for interpretation (1Corinthians 14:13).
Witness for Jesus, trusting in the Spirit's power (Acts 1:8).

11. Have You Experienced a Miracle?

1. If you have faith in Jesus, what will you do (v.12)? What he had been

The word “ask” is translated as “demand” and is synonymous to “look for”


in 1Corinthians 1:22 - “Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for
wisdom”. Thus, “to ask” means “to demand, looking for a response”.

“He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a


prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a
righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.” (Matthew 10:41
NASB). Thus, the “name” of a person refers to “who he is”.

Thus, to ask in Jesus’ name means “to demand, looking for a


response, because of who Jesus is”.

Let us see how Peter did Christ’s work. ‘2 … a man H CRIPPLED

Peter looked straight at him… Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So
the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from
them. 6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I

man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began
to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and

TO DO CHRIST’S WORK,
1. BASED ON YOUR FAITH ON WHO HE IS AND YOUR PERSONAL
RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM, CONSIDER WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN TO
GIVE GOD THE MOST GLORY.
2. THEN, ASK WHATEVER AND WHOEVER NEED TO BE ASKED TO
GIVE GOD THE MOST GLORY, AND EXPECT JESUS TO DO IT.

Do you know of one who is sick or is demonized? Remember that on the


cross, Jesus already has defeated Satan and all his demons (Colossians
2:14-15; Hebrews 2:14). He also took our sicknesses and pains (Isaiah
53:4 Young’s Literal Translation). However, Jesus is just, even in war
(Revelation 19:11 ). He will not drive out any demon if the demonized person
or anyone in that person’s ancestry has given the devil a foothold and the
person is unwilling to be delivered (Ephesians 4:27).

1. If he is not yet a believer, share the gospel to him (Mark 16:15-18,20).


2. If he is a believer, ask him to first confess his sins (James 5:14-17).

Then, in the name of Christ (Mark 9:38-39), you may command demons to
stop oppressing the sick (Acts 10:38 NASB) and to leave, together with the
sickness they have caused. You may even be more direct and rebuke the
sickness (Luke 4:39) -- ask it to leave in Jesus’ name. You may say,
“You (name of sickness or demon) have no more right. In the name of
Jesus, I command you to leave me (or the name of person tormented
by the demon) now!”
Then expect Jesus to remove sicknesses just as he did in Matthew 8:14-17.

12. Have You Benefited from the Laying on of Hands
… let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ
and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation
of … the A LAYING ON OF HANDS …. (Hebrews
6:1,2).

13. How to Overcome Your Offender
“Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger
rests in the bosom of fools.” (Ecclesiastes 7:9 NKJV)
“In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down
while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a

FOOTHOLD.” (Ephesians 4:26-27; 2Corinthians 2:10-
11; Matthew 5:22).
In Bible times, when the sun sets and the visitor is still present, the
host is to ask him to sleep in his house (Jn 1:39)

1. When anger visits, why is it foolish to allow it to rest in your heart?


Because if I do so, I will give the devil a A________________. In what

Have you forgiven yourself?... You may pray this prayer, “Lord, thank
You that You still love me though I made a wrong decision!”
• Have you blamed God for something that happened to you?... to
someone you love?... If so, tell him, “Lord, forgive me for getting mad
at you.
”If you want to be angry, focus it on Satan and his demons (Psalms
139:21-22). They are your true enemies (Ephesians 6:12).
Pray the following audibly that they will also hear:
“Lord, forgive me for not forgiving others before the sun goes down.
Just as you have forgiven me (Colossians 3:13; Ephesians 4:31-32;
Luke 6:36), I now forgive... [Write the names of individuals and groups
who wronged you and the corresponding sins they committed against you
(Matthew 6:12,14,15 ) no matter how many times they did it (Luke 17:4 ).
Write also what you felt because of what they did]…

As the Lord leads at the opportune time, I will talk to each offender
privately. If he does not listen, I will follow your other instructions. If it is
possible, as far as it depends on me, I will live at peace with every one of
them (Romans 12:18).
I will do good to them. … If they will speak negatively against me before
God and others, I will speak positively concerning them. However, I shall
do what has to be done that they will no longer continue to hurt me or
others (Ephesians 5:1)..
Thank you that everything that has happened to me you works together
that I may become more like Christ in my character (Romans 8:28-29)..

(If you have something against God, tell him). Lord, forgive me for
blaming you when ___________________________________________.

“6 ...if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to


sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his
neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 … the things that

How should you look at the believer in Christ who sinned against you
and thus becoming a source of temptation for you to sin.? With F _______

Who is the church being referred to here? The O _______ or three who
are gathered in Jesus' name (v.20). Because Jesus is with them, if the
two or three of you who are witnesses agree in whatever information that
the church ask, who is working to ensure that what you agreed on has
been bound already in heaven (v.19)? The p ____________.

If they are already sure that your testimony is true, they will be the ones
who talk to the offender. If they would not listen even to them, you are to
consider him as not yet a believer in Christ. Pray for him (Matthew 5:44).
Do good to him (Luke 6:27; Romans 12:20,21). This may mean reporting
him to the authorities to prevent him from any further abuses (Ephesians
5:1).

If the witnesses have been found to be false because their testimonies


do not bind because you have different answers to the church, the
punishment he is supposed to be given to the accused will be meted to
you (Deuteronomy 19:16-21).

14. What Should You Do When You Sin?
When you received Christ, you became a child of
God (John 1:12). You have “been cleansed from”
your “past sins” (2Peter 1:9). Indeed, “your sins have
been forgiven on account of His name.” (1John 2:12).

You might then ask, “What if I sin again? What will


I do?”

"If we ACONFESS our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our
sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1John 1:9)

1. According to this verse, what should you do when you commit a sin?

What does it mean to "confess our sins"? We can answer this question
from the context of the verse above:

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not
in us... 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and
his word has no place in our lives. (1 John 1:8,10)

When we confess our sins, we do not deceive ourselves. We do not


make God out to be a liar. We agree with God that we have a sin and we
have sinned. We say the same thing as with what the truth of his word says
concerning our sins. We say something like this, "God, I agree that I sinned
against you when I called Bill a fool (Matthew 5:21-22)." We do not add,
"...But I would not have done it if he did not do it first! (Genesis 3:12-13)"

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not BSIN. (1John 2:1a)

2. Why did John write this part of the Bible? That I will not ___________.

When you confess your sins, you also agree with God that you should not
commit that sin again. For our example, you may pray something like this,
"Lord, I don't want to call him fool again!" or, "Lord, I forgive him!" (Matthew
6:15).

defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He is the one who turns
aside God's wrath, taking away our sins, and not only ours but also the

When you confess your sins, you may say, "...thank you that because
Jesus, the Righteous One, turned aside your wrath, taking away that
bad language I used against Bill, you have forgiven me already."

(mention each sin), I sinned against You.” …
Then conclude by praying, “Thank You that You have forgiven me
because Christ died on the cross for each one of my sins. Enable me
not to do them again."

REMINDER: From now on, whenever God tells you that anything you
have done is not pleasing to him, confess it immediately to him - agree with
him that it is a sin, forgiven and to be forsaken.

15. How to Avoid Sinning


Do you want to obey the command to sin no more (John 8:11)
but there is a sin which easily defeats you?…
Do you want to be freed from it? …
If so, understand what Paul said:

know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into
his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death
in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of

was C CRUCIFIED with him so that the body of sin might be done away
with, {Or be D RENDERED powerless} that we should E NO longer be

MASTER, because you are not under law, but under grace.

Indeed, when you yield the members of your body as instruments of

Instead, speak to bless. You may do so by praying for him. Jesus
said, “…pray for those who persecute you” and (Matthew 5:44) and
“bless those who curse you, pray for those who ill-treat you.” (Luke
6:28) You may pray audibly, “God, my mouth is yours alone. That is
why I ask that you bless (the person you wanted to curse). Let no sickness
fall on him. Give him the money he needs. Draw him closer to you.” Then, if
possible, bless him when you are with him.

5. What is a sin that you have done repeatedly? _____________________.


Do you want to be freed from it? ____. If so, consider the following prayer:

“God, thank you that I am already dead to the sin of (mention that
sin). I can no longer live in it. I am freed from it already. I do not
have to obey it anymore. It shall no longer be my master.
Whatever parts of my body that were affected by it are yours
alone, your instrument/s of righteousness.”
Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? If so, pray it right now...

You may continue also to pray this prayer DAILY until it becomes part of
your prayer life. Jesus instructed us to pray, “… TODAY… lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ and later, “EACH DAY has
enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:11,13,34)

Utter this prayer especially when you are being tempted. “Let us then
approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16 NIV) Then
yield those parts of your body being tempted as instruments of
righteousness--do something righteous with them. “… overcome evil with
good.” (Romans 12:21)

Whatever sin it was that enslaved you, it will be helpful if you continue to
read and obey the Bible. To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If
you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the
truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32 NIV)

16. How to Receive a Yes Answer to Prayers
Do you want to have COMPLETE JOY in your
life? Then follow one command given to those
who just received Christ—“And now, dear children,
CONTINUE IN HIM, so that when he appears we
may be confident and unashamed before him at
his coming.” (1John 2:28). Let us see how M
JESUS explains how to continue or remain in him:

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off (lit.,
RAISES UP) every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch
that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even A MORE fruitful. 3 You
are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 REMAIN IN
ME, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear B FRUIT by itself; it must
remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I
am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he
will bear MUCH fruit; apart from me you can C DO nothing. 6
If anyone did not remain in me, he is like a branch that was thrown
away and withered; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and

According to Jesus, why should you remain or continue in him? Because:

I. If I do not remain in him:

17. How to Rest with Honor and Joy
“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as
you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a A DELIGHT and
the LORD’s holy day B HONORABLE, and if you honor it by not going
your C OWN way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on
the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father
Jacob.” The mouth of the LORD has spoken.” (Isaiah 58:13-14)

“There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a
Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred D ASSEMBLY. You are not to do any
work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.” (Leviticus 23:3)

UNLEAVENED BREAD (Matthew 26:17) … on
the NIGHT when He was betrayed …
(1Cor.11:23) “ 14 … Jesus and his apostles
reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, "I
have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with
you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat
it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of
God."
17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, "Take this and divide it
among you.” (Luke 22:14-17)

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and B BROKE it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and C EAT; this is my D BODY."

under judgment. 32 When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined
so that we will not be condemned with the world. 33 So then, my brothers,
when you come together to eat, N WAIT for each other. 34 If anyone is
hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you meet together it may not

I. Why should you partake of the Lord’s Supper?

not judge others who will use wine that has undergone some fermentation.
If such wine was not allowed in the first century, how can some get drunk
with grape juice in 1Corinthians 11:21?

19. How Become Rich
“This is what you have to do in order TO BE PHYSICALLY RICH!” Before
you react to such statement, consider this verse:

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus CHRIST,


that though He was A RICH, yet for your sakes He
became B POOR, so that you through his poverty might
become CRICH.” (2Corinthians 8:9).

1. What was Christ’s status before He was crucified? He was A_______.

JESUS WAS RICH in that He did not store up treasure for Himself, for
anyone who do so “… is not rich towards God.” (Luke 12:21; Revelation
3:17) Though He had “nowhere to lay His head” (Matthew 8:20; Luke 9:58),
He was “ready to distribute” (1Timothy 6:17-18 KJV) and “willing to share”
(NIV) to the needs of others. He just prayed and needs were met. At one

children who were also fed (Matthew 14:21; 15:38) and the food had excess
(16:9,10 Mark 8:19,20).

2. What happened to Christ when He was crucified (2Corinthians 8:9)? He

5. So that you will be truly rich, to whom should you first give yourself (v.5)?

again and again when I was in need. 17 Not that I am looking for a gift,
but I am looking for what may be credited to your account. 18 I have
received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I
have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a
fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 AND my
God will meet ALL your needs according to his glorious riches in
Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:11-19)

If only we will be like the Philippians, God’s workers will lack no


support!

BEYOND THE TITHE FOR THE WORKERS, THE FOLLOWING REFERS


TO OTHER THINGS WE ARE TO GIVE:

A. THE SECOND TITHE IS FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL GROWTH: For the


Jews’ spiritual growth, they are asked to use the second tithe:

“22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.
23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your
herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he
will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere
the LORD your God always.” (Deuteronomy 14:22-23)

B. THE THIRD TITHE IS FOR GOD’S WORKER, THE ALIEN, THE WIDOW
AND THE ORPHAN

On the third year, the Jews are asked to give the third tithe to the Levite,
the alien, the widow and the orphan:
so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own)
and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns
may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may
bless you in all the work of your hands. (Deuteronomy 14:29) 12 When you
have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the
year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless
and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied…
(26:12-13)

C. FREE AND ABUNDANT GIVING

should give what he has I DECIDED in his heart to give, not

first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum
of money in keeping with his M INCOME…. (1 Corinthians 16:2).

Corinthians 3:16). Thus, we are to do what we can for God to indwell
the hearts of people. One of the means is to use our earthly
possessions so that others will receive Christ and become our friends
who will receive us into their eternal habitation (Luke 16:9).

2. To help those who are affected by calamities, especially the Christians


among them

“3 For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even
beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4 they urgently pleaded with
us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints. … 7 But just
as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in
complete earnestness and in your love for us— see that you also
excel in this grace of giving.” (2 Corinthians 8:3,4,7) “1 Now about the
collection for God’s people: … “…. let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
(Galatians 6:9-10)

If you want to be rich in good works, pray and live according to the following:

Father, I will give the tithe of all my earnings to those who devote their
whole time in prayer and teaching of the Word. Beyond that, I will give
abundantly and purposefully for my personal growth and that of
others.

on towards LOVE and A GOOD deeds. 25Let us not

The first disciples met in large and small groups. The 3,000 who were
added to the 120 (Acts 1:15) devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching in
the temple courts. What did they do that demonstrated LOVE:

Yes, join a LOVING CHURCH, a HOUSE OF GOD, a HOUSE OF
PRAYER FOR ALL NATIONS (Isaiah 56:7). Meet with them in a small group
they consider a HOME. Be devoted with them to PRAYER. Help them
disciple ALL NATIONS (Matthew 28:19) by helping send preferably a pair
(Luke 10:1) of those who HAVE OVERCOME SATAN (Luke 10:18-20; 1John
2:13,14) and…
1. will identify a son of peace (Luke 10:5-6).
2. will fellowship with his contacts (Luke 10:7; 1Corinthians 9:19-27).
3. will demonstrate God’s kingdom by meeting his and those contacts’ needs
(Luke 10:9a; Mark 16:17-18).
4. will preach God’s kingdom urgently (Luke 10:8,9b; Mark 16:15).
When you join a house of prayer (Ac 9:26), someone who joined it
earlier will be assigned to be your FRIEND. He will accompany you so that
every H SUPPORTING LIGAMENT that you need to I GROW in your K LOVE
and work for the Lord and for others is provided. This happens as you are
G
JOINED with him to the F WHOLE GROUP (Ephesians 4:16).

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their
work: 10 If one falls down, his FRIEND can help him up. But pity the man
who falls and has no one to help him up! 11 Also, if two lie down together,
they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one
may be OVERPOWERED, two can defend themselves. A cord of three
strands is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)
If you and your friend encourage each other daily (Hebrews 3:12-13), both
of you will have a better return for your work for God. If you fall down -
commit a sin or just a mistake - speaking the truth in LOVE, he will help you
up. So that he can speak to you about any truth, it is best that he be of the
same sex or your spouse. If you cannot by yourself OVERCOME Satan, you
can do so with your friend. The warmth in his relationship with God can help
warm yours. When he is the one who needs help, it will be your turn to help.
Whenever God is with the two of you (which has become three!), you will
never be defeated by anyone! You can then start a house of prayer!

Transformation Daily

I. PRAY that God will:


A. remind you of your DAILY appointment with Him. “The…
LORD... wakens me morning by morning…” (Isaiah 50:4b).
B. cause you to LEARN from Him. “… He wakens my ear to
listen like one being taught.” (Isaiah 50:4b; Psalm 25:4).
II. STUDY TO APPLY THE BIBLE DAILY. “For Ezra had
devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law
of the LORD, and to teaching its decrees and laws in
Israel.” (Ezra 7:10).
A. READ the Bible - “...devote yourself to the… reading of Scripture...”
(1Timothy 4:13). As you read, mark those words which you see may
be applicable to your situation (Jeremiah 23:18). God’s Holy Spirit may
use those words to teach you and others (1Corinthians 2:13; John
14:26)
B. If you think you have already READ something which you can APPLY
or DO (James 1:22-25; Revelations 1:3), trust His Spirit for guidance
and CHOSE the verse or verses from among those you have paid
attention to (Hebrews 2:1) and marked.
C. Copy portions of SELECTED verse/s. Copying the Bible may help you
lead others well - “When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to
write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the
priests… (Deuteronomy 17:18)
D. Write out what you LEARNED (Romans 15:4) from the passage you
have chosen. “19It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of
his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow
carefully all the words of this law and these decrees…” (Deuteronomy
17:19-20). “... ‘Do not go beyond what is written.’...” (1Corinthians 4:6).
Choose to obey and you will learn (John 7:17).
E. Based on what you learned, record a PRAYER or what you WILL DO
(Mt 5:19):
1. in your personal life - “... I have not been rebellious...” (Isaiah
50:5b). 2Timothy 3:16-17 says that the whole Bible is “useful”.
Therefore ask yourself the questions below:
a. “for rebuking” - “Did God convince (related word in Titus 1:9 KJV)
me that I have done something which he calls as sin?” Confess
it to him (1John 1:3-2:1,12).
b. “for correcting” or “restoration” - “Is there anything he wants me
to straighten up (Luke 13:13)? to do again? Is there something I
can do better?” If needed, write steps.
c. “for training in righteousness” - “Does he want me to be more
trained or disciplined to do good, what is right?”
d. “Is there a command I need to obey (John 14:21)?

22. Pray as Christ Would

he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach
us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2 He said to

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who
knocks, the door will be opened. 11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks
for a DFISH, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an EEGG,
will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to
give GGOOD gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in
heaven give the HOLY SPIRIT to those who ask him!” (Luke 11)

Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat
down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them, saying, 6:5
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray
standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I
tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you
pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is
unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward
you. “7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they
think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like
them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our AFATHER in heaven,
hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your FWILL be done on
earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily HBREAD. 12 Forgive us
our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for yours is the I KINGDOM
and the K POWER and the L GLORY for ever. Amen. ’”

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly
Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your
Father will not forgive your sins. (Matthew 5:1; 6:1-15 using the some late

it in your schedule.

4. As a child of God, what can you ask from him (Luke 11:13)? G________

You may ask, “Have I not received the Holy Spirit already when I received

Acts 10:44-47 and 2:1-4 where the Holy Spirit filled them and enabled them
to speak according to the will of God (Ephesians 5:18,19; Romans 8:26). So
do not be afraid to ask the Father to do the same for you. He will not give
you a demon (Luke 11:11,12). Pray then in this manner:
“Father, give me your Holy Spirit in a way that I may know how to
speak to you and to others according to your will.”

Following Jesus, you may pray in a place alone with God (Matthew 6:6)
early in the morning (Mark 1:35) or at night (Luke 6:12). That your joy may
be full as a result of seeing answers to prayers (John 16:24; Matthew 14:23),
you may write in a daily planner each of your prayer requests on the day you
want to check if it has been answered. Here is a sample:

23. How to Help Teach Nations


“I’m not yet ready!” This may have been your response to the thought
of helping a brother in Christ. But before you continue, let’s first read
what the Bible says concerning this:

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee ….18 Then Jesus came to
them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given
to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, … teaching
them to obey A EVERYTHING I have commanded you. ….”
(Matthew 28:16-20)

According to this verse, how many of Christ’s commands are we to teach


the nations to follow? A___________________. Does this include teaching
them to obey the command to disciple nations? ______. Are you therefore
commanded to help disciple nations? ______

You might complain, “Why should I be included? I do not know how to


teach?!” You are included among those who are commanded to disciple

About You
Is there anyone who said something bad about you? That need not affect
you anymore… if you are already in Christ and you understand the good
things God said about you:

on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea

26. How to Strengthen One Another in Church
Gatherings
“What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has
a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation.
All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.”
(1Corinthians 14:26).

I. COME TO THE MEETING WITH SOMETHING WITH WHICH YOU MAY


BE ABLE TO BUILD UP ANOTHER.

A. hymn.
1. This is a song sung with a musical instrument” (Zodhiates) - “Take a
psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the
psaltery.” (Ps 81:2 KJV) Examples of psalms are those which are a
major division of the Old Testament (Lu 24:44), containing the
Psalms (Lu 20:42 Ac 1:20 13:33) up to Song of Solomon (Evidence
that Demands a Verdict)
2. Its content may be thanksgiving. An ancient writing used it this way:
"And the priests sung psalms of thanksgiving."
3. Although this may be sung, it may be just spoken (Ephesians 5:19)
4. This can be used in teaching or admonishing (Colossians 3:16).
5. There are different ways to come with a psalm:
a. Have at least a musical instrument ready so that if anyone would
be led to sing a song, he may be accompanied. Others may then
sing along with him.
b. Come ready to share what you would like to thank God for.
Consider the past week or the last time you were unable to attend
the meeting. Is there anything you would like to thank God for?
c. Include reading part of Psalms - Song of Solomon in your daily
Bible reading

B. a word of instruction, teaching, a word learned


1. from God (Joh 7:16) during your personal study of God's word.
2. not of yourself (Joh 7:17), not stories invented by your creative mind.

C. a revelation, a disclosing of a mystery (Ro 16:25), something


previously in darkness (Lu 2:32), covered or hidden (Mt 10:26 11:25 Lu
12:2) but has been made known (Eph 3:3) by the Father (Mt 16:17 Lu
10:22) through his Spirit (1Co 2:10) or by Jesus (2Co 12:1,7; Ga 1:12
2:2). It may be
1. a thought or secret in someone’s heart (Lu 2:35; 1Co 14:24),
2. how you became a Christian - how the faith was revealed to you (Ga
3:23).
3. something which God has prepared for and freely given to those who
love him (1Co 2:9-13).
4. how Jesus is revealed in your life (Ga 1:16) - that is, how Jesus was
seen in your life, the changes that has taken place recently.

5. a character of God you have known recently (such as righteousness,
Ro 1:16,17), what Jesus has made known about the Father (Lu
10:22).
6. an area in your life where you need to be more like Christ (Php 3:8-
15).
7. an experience of power in your life, such as that over demons (Lu
10:19-21).

D. a tongue and an interpretation


1. A tongue is a language or dialect spoken (1Jo 3:18) by angels (1Co
13:1) or a nation [or group of people (Re 5:9 7:9 10:11 Re 11:9 13:7
14:6 17:15) who dwell together (Ac 2:5,9,11) and have rulers (Mt
20:25 Mr 10:42)].
2. A sign for those who believe the gospel is that they also speak
tongues that are new (Mk 16:16-17) [or previously unspoken by them
(or unheard by them as in Ac 17:21 where the same Greek word is
used)].
3. Do not forbid their use (1Co 14:39).
a. Why? In or out of the gathering, he who speaks in a tongue
edifies himself (1Co 14:4).
b. How? In a gathering, use it "decently and in order" (1Co 14:40):
1) Every believer may come with "a tongue" to use for edification
(1Co 14:26) either of others (1Co 14:5) or himself (1Co 14:4a)
alone.
2) A tongue spoken may be understood:
a) by no man except God (1Co 14:2). In such a case, when
used in prayer, the speaker's spirit prays, but his
understanding is unfruitful (1Co 14:14). The speaker should
therefore "pray that he may interpret" (1Co 14:13).
b) by others who hear it as is (Ac 2:4) or as interpreted (1Co
14)
1. The speaker may be praying (1Co 14:14). He may be
giving thanks (1Co 14:16,17) or magnifying God (Ac
10:46) such as in speaking about His wonderful works
(Ac 2:11).
2. The tongue can also be a revelation, knowledge,
prophecy or doctrine (1Co 14:6).
3) "If any man speaks" it in the hearing of others, he should do so
"by two or at the most [by] three and that by course [or, part]
and let one interpret" (1Co 14:27). This way, others will be
edified and the speaker is equal to the one who prophesies
(1Co 14:5).
4) When there is no interpreter, one should just speak in a
tongue / tongues "to himself, and to God" (1Co 14:28)
5) When there is an unbeliever or unlearned person present, not
everyone should speak at the same time (1Co 14:23).

II. LET THE ONE WHO LEADS THE MEETING ENSURE THAT ALL

THINGS ARE DONE FOR EDIFICATION:

A. Let each of the 2 or 3 prophets speak (1Co 14:29,31) words with his
mind (1Co 14:19) on behalf of God.

B. Let the others (who listened, which may include the other 1 or 2
prophets) pass judgment (1Co 14:29; 1Th 5:21). A true prophecy
makes evident that God is in the person speaking (1Co 14:25).
1. Let each one of them first ask himself, "Am I willing to do God's will
(Jn 7:17)? If so, is there a witness in my spirit that it is the voice of
God (Jn 10:2-5)?" Let two or three confirm (Mt 18:16) the prophecy
as from Jesus (Re 19:10).
2. Does the prophecy edify, exhort (1Co 14:3) or comfort or console
(NAS 3-5)? Does it manifest the kindness of God (Ro 2:4)?
Prophecy should immediately be stopped once it:
a. is condemning (Ro 8:1), accusing the brethren of something they
have confessed already (Re 12:10 1Jn 1:9).
b. sharply rebukes an older person (1Ti 5:1) or a ruler (Ac 23:5).
c. is publicly used to to confront someone (Mt 18:15).
3. Is the teaching faithful (Tit 1:9) and not contrary to that of the
doctrine of Christ (2John 1:3) as written in the Bible (Jn 16:13)?
4. Does the revelation stir up the faith of those who hear it (Joh 12:38)?
5. Does the person prophesied over confirm that what one who
prophesied revealed something about his heart (1Co 14:24-25,30-
31)?
6. Does the life of the one prophesying support his prophesying (Lu
6:43-45 Jer 23:10,11,14)? Or is he presumptuous (1Ki 22:24)?
7. Let no one immediately accuse one who prophesies as being a false
prophet if:
a. his prophecy is not 100% accurate. Nathan was not accurate
about David’s building a temple (2Sa 7:1-5)
b. he is not certain concerning what he heard (Je 32:8)

C. If a revelation is made to another who is seated while the prophet is


prophesying, let the prophet keep silent (1Co 14:30).
1. All can prophesy one by one (1Co 14:31), not just the prophets.
2. The prophet who is prophesying at first can control his spirit (1Co
14:32).

III. PRACTICE:

A. Group yourselves into three or fours. Sit in a circle. Revelation may


come while you are sitting (1Co 14:30).

B. Have each person share briefly to the group his answer to this
question, “If God were to appear to you and you were given a privilege
to ask anything, a request or a question that will be answered, tell the
group in five words (1Co 14:19) or so, what would that be?”

C. Spend time in prayer


1. Pray for each other - such as that which was requested
2. Listen to God, since we are Jesus’ sheep (Jn 20:27)
3. Should one speak in a tongue, follow the instructions given on
tongues and interpretation.

D. Share to the group anything God may have told you during the prayer
time, such as an answer to the question that was asked or a promise
related to the request that was made.

E. Let others pass judgment.

F. Thank God for the results.

G. Believe the prophecies that were judged to be from God (2Ch 20:20)
and act accordingly (Jn 14:21).

IV.ASSIGNMENT:

A. Continue to follow the suggestions here in your next meetings.

B. Based on the suggestions above, here are some questions you can ask
at the beginning of the house of prayer meeting. Pray for wisdom on
what to do, such as on what one question to ask. From the last time
