RTU50/SCD5200 Software Release Note
1101155-R MR-1

I/A Series Intelligent SCADA System Page 5 of 7
1. Introduction
This release note describes a maintenance release of the SCD5200 and RTU50 Protected Mode
Software and Utilities identified as part number 1101155, revision R MR-1 (built from internal baseline
14.0.0.MR1).
This release note does not repeat information in the release note for 1101155-R, and is intended to
be read in conjunction with that release note. .
In particular, this note describes
the corrections and changes provided in this maintenance release, and
the upgrade procedure.
Users should be aware that, at the time of product release, there remain outstanding incidents.
Project managers and customers requiring a more detailed assessment of the advantages and
disadvantages of adopting 1101155-R MR-1 for their specific projects should contact IPS Global
Product Support (GPS) (email: ips.csc@ips.invensys.com).
2. Functionality and Compatibility
This maintenance release is identified as version 14.0.0.MR1 in the Configuration Control System.
This version number may be viewed on the first page of RTU information using RTV or TOOL32.
This maintenance release is provided specifically for the purpose of providing the stated new and
enhanced functionality, and correcting the stated faults. No other changes have been made from the
baseline of 1101155-R (14.0.0).
2.1 New Functionality
No new functionality has been added to the 1101155-R MR-1 release.
2.2 Enhanced Functionality
Table 1 shows the enhanced functionality that is included in the 1101155-R MR-1 release.
Change
Request:
Subsystem: Description
IFW#921 Diagnostics RTU firmware support has been added to allow clearing of diagnostic
error messages ("complain" messages) shown in RTV.
IFW#960 Diagnostics RTU complain messages now display the date as well as the time.

2.3 Defect Correction
Table 2 shows a list of the defects that have been corrected in the 1101155-R MR-1 release.
Change
Request:
Subsystem: Description
IFW#871 DNP Master RTV no longer loses communication with RTU when "Failover logical
RTU" is activated in RTV DNP Master page.
IFW#916 OptoNet Time synchronisation through OptoNet was delayed by 5 minutes at
RTU start-up. This has been reduced to 30 seconds.
IFW#949 OptoNet Raise/Lower commands sent as digital controls from a Master Station
via DNP and OptoNet to a virtual (calc) Ai point now cause the target
values to be updated correctly
IFW#953 TCP/IP In previous versions of the RTU software a TCP/IP DNP interface
might cause RTU page fault and RTU reset when a tentative socket is
closed prematurely. This is now prevented.
IFW#954 DNP Slave The buffer overflow flag in a DNP slave is now cleared when all event
have been transmitted and acknowledged.
IFW#961 TCP/IP ARP cache entries have been increased from 8 to 50.
IFW#962 IEC101 Slave Double reporting of Digital input change across OptoNet has been
fixed. It is now reported once for each Digital input change.
IFW#964 IEC101 Slave IEC 101 Slave now reports events for flag changes received from DNP
Master Digital SOE points. Previously, flag changes for these points
were not reported. This fault was introduced in RTU software version
1101155-N.
IFW#965 TCP/IP The RTU now accepts configurations having the Ethernet channel
names configured to values other than the default channel names of
"ChannelA" and "ChannelB". Previously any name other than the
default prevented the RTU from booting up.
IFW#969 TCP/IP The RTU now stores the last configured Ethernet speed in addition to
IP address in NVRAM area.
IFW#972 TCP/IP The RTU Firmware now defaults the Ethernet speed to 10Mbps when
the TCP/IP port configuration version is 4.
IFW#975 TCP/IP The RTU no longer reboots intermittently due to page fault. The
problem was introduced in 1101155-R in conjunction with an update to
the IP stack code.
IFW#978 TCP/IP The TCP/IP communication no longer fails due to Receive FIFO
overflow and Rx Packet dropping at high data traffic rates.

2.4 SALL Calculations
SALL calculation binaries compiled using the utilities supplied with 1101155-P MR-1 and later
versions will load and function correctly with this release. Binaries compiled using the utilities supplied
with any other previous RTU Software version will need to be recompiled to load and function
correctly with this release.

3. Known Problems and Limitations
Please refer to for 1101155-R release note. One of these limitations has been removed in this
maintenance release (Refer to CR IFW#965 above).
4. Installation/Upgrade Instructions
Refer to 1101155-R release note. In addition, for successful installation of RTV and SYSCFG,
installation should not be attempted when logged in as a Windows domain user if the PC is not
connected to the network on which the users domain resides (CR FW#609).
The release media for this release contains complete installation programs for the RTU Software and
associated utilities.
The modified RTU software files for this maintenance release are available in the patch directory on
the release media. If desired, the files in this directory can be used without installing the other
contents of the release media.
5. Validation and Verification Statement
A variety of verification and validation activities have been conducted on the 1101155-R MR-1 RTU
Software and Utilities prior to their release.
1. Change Design and Code Reviews
The design and source code of all baseline changes were documented and reviewed before
acceptance into system integration. Reviews were performed by peer developers and by
independent Software Verification Engineers.
2. Incident Retest
For each incident addressed in this release, test cases were prepared and documented by an
independent team to ensure that the incident was fixed satisfactorily and that no unintended side-
effects of the modification were evident.
No outstanding problems were identified during testing or in incident reports from the field. However
there may be defects that arise in project usage patterns that have not been identified during testing.
6. Related Documentation
For further information on RTU50 and SCD5200 installation, configuration, programming and
diagnostics, please refer to the documents listed in the release note for 1101155-R.
7. Contents of Release Media
The RTU Software and Utilities are installed on a Windows PC using the installation program
menu.exe, contained on release media 1101190-J MR-1. Typically this installation program will run
automatically after loading the media.
The installed RTU Software files have the following characteristics:
File name: File Size:
155RMR1.Z 275417 bytes
155RMR1.DLL 678940 bytes
