PROCESS OF CLOSE READING PROCESS OF SIGHT READING MUSIC
Students are provided with some context and background information about the text. Students approach the text with purpose Students annotate the text by noting the aspects of structure, content, perspective and word choice that relate to their purpose After developing an initial understanding students re- approach the text. Students engage in meaningful questioning of the text. The questions may be teacher provided or student-generated. Students use evidence constructed by their close reading in order to communicate their insights about and understanding of the text. Ultimately students can apply their deeper understanding of the text to larger tasks, such as research papers or presentations, that require the synthesis of other texts and learning.
