What is the purpose of this course?

The objective of this course is to explain to health and safety representatives where they feature within a health
and safety management system.

Course Outcomes
Attendants will understand where health and safety representatives feature within a health and safety
management system and how to interact with the various role players in that system. Attendants will understand
their functions as SHE Reps and what is expected from them by their employer as well as how to perform as a
value adder in respect of occupational health and safety.

What is the purpose of this course?


The objectives of this course are to explain and discuss the obligations in respect of incident and accident
management from a legal, as well as a practical perspective. It also explains how to practically implement
corrective measures and how to readdress hazard identifications and risk assessments. Attendants also get
practical experience in how to investigate and to write a report, which is based on a practical scenario.

Course Outcomes

The following aspects will be addressed in this course:

Day 1:
The reason for investigating incidents;
The difference between accidents and incidents;
Legal requirements in respect of:
o Reporting of incidents;
o Investigation of incidents;
The identification of an incident investigation team;
All relevant documentation in respect of an incident that legally has to be completed;
The involvement of management with an investigation;
How to prepare for and approach an investigation;
What the main focus areas during an investigation should be
