The objective was to develop an energy ecient
emergency lamp. Conventional design of
emergency lamps, use to house Fluorescent Tube
Light. But the problem with such design was high
power consumption.

5q suggested the use of CFL which will consume
less energy, in turn less power from battery. This
made battery last more.
5q s responsibility was to develop complete design
till prototyping stage. 5q developed concepts,
mockups and nal production drawings. In team
with client, 5q production team rened initial
prototypes to create nal production line.

Spark Engineering manufactures Gear Shift Lever
for bicycles intended for European export markets.
The previous versions of Gear Shift Lever was
rather only functional without any aesthetic value.
The manufacturer approached 5th quadrant for
redesign of gear shift lever for greater appeal as well
as ergonomical usability.
5q studied the aesthetic trends of European
markets and functionality of gear shift lever from
the users perspective. Various design options were
developed. The featured design was the nal design
which was selected for nal production.

Spark Engineering manufactures Gear Shift Lever

manufacturing drawings and assisted client for the
development of manufacturing nal product. 5q
graphic design team also helped Spark Engineering
develop communication, branding, and marketing
collateral.

Summers in India are extremely hot and many
middle class houses cannot aord air conditioners.
Due to space constraints larger coolers are not
feasible for small house. Hence, window cooler is
most appropriate alternative.
Patriot Manufacturing manufactures large range of
air coolers in various segments. They approached 5q
to develop range of air coolers in various segments.
In the case of window air cooler the facia was
developed for various models.

graphic team developed various graphical interfaces
of control panels and facia to create a greater
market appeal.

large coolers. Such type of coolers are called dessert
air coolers. It requires entirely dierent styling and
treatment.

They wanted to launch label called 1857 on the
theme of war happened in the same year. The
exercise was to develop an umbrella brand for
various segments of Indian market.

also designed branding strategies for all the labels
for various market segments with brand names as
Ultimate, Freedom etc.

Amway India Enterprises, 5qs one of the retainer
clients for graphic design wanted a scoop for one
of their detergent powders. The challenge was to
develop a scoop which reects the similar elements
from their existing brand range.

5q design a scoop taking inspiration from Amways
detergent bottles. The design became appropriate
for the entire product range. The scoop also had
measuring marks for ease of use.
5q developed complete manufacturing drawings for
the scoop which further was developed for various
volume.

available in the market. 5qs one of the product

to come up with water heater / geyser with radically
dierent form.

dierent looking appliace to suit contemporary
appliace.

5q with a brief to resolve the need of aeration for
small places like telephone booths, study rooms,
cabins etc. where placing a fan becomes dicult
since it not clear which type of place would be
available to place a fan.

multipurpose fan with multi-axis freedom of
rotation so that the fan can be placed on table, wall
or ceiling. Production drawing were developed for
nal production run.

incoming calls to various extensions in oces. Usha
Informatics manufactures EPABX as well as key
telephone system.

system which had a swivel screen for better user
interface . The buttons of the phone system were
realigned to increase usability.

Gas stoves being an essential commodity, the
scarcity of availability of gas cylinder is common
phenomenon in small towns. To counter this
problem, Wondergas developed a special chemical
which can be lled in small cylinder and air need to
be pumped in to produce inammable gas. For this
purpose Wondergas required a pumping regulator.

concept was recongured to reduce the size of the
regulator. Final die drawings were developed and
initial production was assisted by 5q team.

produced a residue which after treatment was
used as fabric bleach. In early days it was used for
institutional purpose. But the requirement of fabric
bleach in retail market made Shriram Industries to
develop a container. They approached 5q.
5q design team developed various options studying
user prole. The nal option was developed after
many initial discussion with dierent internal
teams and user. The design was adapted for various
volumes.

which was made foldable as well as the stand was
developed with only two components. This made
client invest less in molds and the stand became
ecient in handling and looks.
5q product design and graphic design team worked
in tandem to develop nal visual elements and color
combinations.
