I first heard my music in summer of 2011 in Danville, Virginia.
I fell in love with my music when I heard J. Cole.
I connected to it because it was something I could relate to, a smart kid that likes hip hop and has to deal with stereotypes because hes black.
My Music Product Life Cycle Curve The need for immediate profit is not a pressure. The product is promoted to create awareness. (Drake- Successful) Competitors are attracted into the market with very similar offerings. (J. Cole- Work Out) Price wars and intense competition occur. At this point the market reaches saturation. (Kendrick Lamar- Poetic Justice) At this point there is a downturn in the market. For example more innovative products are introduced or consumer tastes have changed. Or you have saturation instead of decline. (J. Cole- Power Trip) Genre- New School Hip Hop This style began in the 2000s when rappers started to fuse with pop music. Hip hop influences also found their way increasingly into mainstream pop during this period mainly the mid-2000s, as the Los Angeles style of the 1990s lost power. Saturation This album was J. Coles second album and to me he really did something most in this genre cant do by writing and producing the whole album himself. It was marketed to me through mixtapes he put out before the album to get people ready. The target was black males and women, in big and small cities, with at least $60,000 income.
