Dear friends and family:
Jimarrived backfrom the UStwodays ago and it is really great to be backtogether again. Both of us
accomplished a great deal and enjoyed some good times with family (hewith folks in the US and Iwith our kids
andfriends at Ukarumpa), but weare very glad thetime apart has come toan end. Jim attended PBT board
meetings and participated in a Missions Conference at oneofour supporting churches. He returned home from
the Missions Conferencefeeling veryrefreshedand blessed. Crossroads Christian Church (in Grand Prairie,
Texas) went all out to bless and encourage each oftheir missionaries and the succeeded in a big way! I helped a
co-worker finish up a large literacy materials publishing project here inMadang before heading up to the
highlands tospendsometime with ourkids. We are now trying toget back into the swing ofthings in Madang in
the short two weeks we have before returning to the highlands on the 29th November. We will be at Ukarumpa
for the remaining two weeks of school in order to help our boys studyfor exams as well as enjoy the choir and
band concerts inwhich our childrenwill participate. Jim also has meetings and other Administrative issues to
attend to while there. It's hard to believe the Christmas season is almost upon us. We are praying for a restive
and festive season that majors infellowship, joy, and peace rather than pressure, frantic activity and fatiguethat
often accompanies this time of year.
After Christmas, we will see inthe newyear with friends and co-workers here in Madang. This is always a time of
fellowship and social activity as all of our teams make theirwayinto Madang for our Annual General Meeting
(AGM) scheduled the second week of January. Please prayfor our times together that the Lord will continue to
develop inour branch a strong sense of unity and oneness of vision. We as a branch will also be participating in
a Peacemakers Seminar that will take place directly following our AGM. We are praying this is a significant event
in the lifeof our branch. Remember Gerald Denney and his wife Ruth in your prayers. They will be traveling from
the US to facilitate this seminar.
We have asked inthe recent past for your prayers regarding the PBTPresidential Search Committee as they
interview candidates for the position of President of our organization. We are pleased to announce that the board
has approved theirchoiceof Greg Pruitt for the next PBT President. Many of you are familiar with Gregdue to his
recent role as President of the 2003 National Missionary Convention. He and his wife are translators in Guinea,
W. Africa. Greg will not assume this role immediately, as he and his wife Rebecca have things to complete in
Guinea, and the usual loose ends to tie up. We are nowina twoyear transition process. During that time Rondal
(our present President) and his wife, Janice, will NOT be retiring but will be assuming other full time roles being
worked out as part of the transition process. The official passing of the torch will take place approximately2 years
down the road and at that time you will receive an official public announcement. Please prayfor this time of
transition...prayfor Greg as he receives the baton from Rondal, and give praise to Godfor the job Rondal has
done for the last 12 years.
Beforeclosing, we have to share with you some exciting newdevelopments inour branch that may have a great
impacton future translation efforts. John &Marsha Relyea have completeda translation of the NewTestament in
the Aruamu language. This effort has taken them about 14 years to complete. While they wait for it to be
published they have taken on another project with menfrom a related language calledAkighim. By making use of
a computer programand the Aruamu NT, they are producing a New Testament inAkighim ina fraction of the time
it took them to do the initial Aruamu translation. This is an excerpt from a recent letter written by the Relyea's:
"Just to update you, we have begun working with the Akighim men on drafting their NT, using the Aruamu
translation as a base and using the Adapt-ltcomputer program. We started working the first week of October. At
this point, we have completed the initial draft of Mark, Acts. Revelation, and Romans, and we are part way
through the book of Hebrews. The Akighim menare VERY eager and committed to work on the translation.
They are a joy to be around."

This is exciting news when you consider that Papua New Guinea represents over860distinct languages.
Continue to pray for John and Marsha as they work with thesemen who areeagertohave theWord ofGod in the
language of their heart!
Praise items:
Good trip tothe States (for Jim) for the board meetings and the missions conference at Crossroads Christian.
Safe journey back to PNG and a sweet reunion!
That Cindy was able to get a lot of stuffdone and offthe "backburner"
For the kids doing well inschool, (even though Keren does have bouts of home sickness!)
Forthe progress John and Marsha Relyea are making on the Akighim New Testament and the menwhoare
working with them.
Prayer items:
That the Thanksgiving and Christmas season will truly be one of joy and delight in our Savior...that the busy
ness of the time won't detract from the true joy that comes with this time of year.
For Jim and the assistant directors, along with our Long Range Planning Committee, as we set goals and plans
for the future, and as we prepare for our Annual General Meeting in January.
Pray for the Peacemakers Seminar which will be held immediately following AGM, that it will be a time of
strengthening and encouraging our members here.
For the kids to continue to do well in school, especially the last two weeks of term, which has all of the final
exams!
Pray for us as we try and prepare for Michael to enter college next fall. Michael wouldcovet your prayers I am
sure, but we are the ones who are finding it harder and harder to believe he is actually leaving the nest.
For spiritual protection on the lives and marriages of all of us here, as Satan will do all he can to disrupt and
discourage our efforts.
For an extra measure of protection for John and Marsha Relyea, and the Akighim translation team, as they
work on getting an entire rough draft of the New Testament done.
Continue to pray for our good friends, Chris and Lori Urton, who need extra housing funds for their home in
their village of Igoi.
We love you all and so appreciate your prayers for us, and for the work of PBT here in PNG and around the
world.
Jim and Cindy for all of us.
