Lesson Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
1. Give out several information about the manatee verbally based on
their knowledge.
2. Read eight sentences about manatees with correct pronunciation and
intonation.
3. Write at least two answers correctly out of four questions in the
activity book.
Educational Emphasis : Knowledge acquisition
Teaching Aids : picture puzzle, sentence strips, activity book and coloured papers
Moral Values :Save the manatees, do not throw rubbish into the sea.

puzzles on the whiteboard.
2. Pupils guess the name of the
animal.
3. One pupil comes to the front and
solves the puzzle.
4. Teacher introduces the animal
and the topic of the lesson to the
pupils.

Pre-reading

Get to Know the
Manatee
1. Teacher asks the pupils what they
know about manatee.
2. Teacher writes the information
about manatee next to the
picture.
3. While giving the information,
teacher asks several questions.
4. Pupils answer the questions and
gives out their idea about the
manatee.

Read the text entitled
Manatees
1. Teacher tells the pupils that they
are going to read a text about
manatees.
2. Teacher pastes the first sentence
strip on the whiteboard.
3. Pupils read the sentence together
with teachers guidance.
4. Teacher explains the meaning of
the sentence.
5. Steps 2 until 4 are repeated by
using the other sentence strips.
6. Once all sentences have been
pasted, pupils read the sentences
together.
