Carers Assessments and Resources The Care Bill proposes new rights to assessment for carers. To support this, a free e-learning course and two guides for those who carry out carers assessments have been developed by Skills for Care in partnership with the Carers Trust.
Carers Assessments: Getting it right offers advice and best practice guidance for how to prepare for and conduct statutory carers assessments to achieve the best outcomes for the carer.
Carers and Communities is a guide to understanding why carers need communities and communities need carers. Assessing carers needs is a short guide to taking account of everyone in the family who cares. It explores the benefits of taking a whole family approach to a carers assessment and support planning.

Petition to stop Taxi Drivers overcharging Disabled Passengers People First Keighley and Craven have started a petition to Kris Hopkins MP. It is to enact Section 165 of the Equality Act 2010 to stop Private Hire Operators taking financial advantage of (overcharging) wheelchair/disabled passengers. In Bradford as well as other cities in the UK, private hire operators are charging wheelchair passengers double the actual fare and in some cases charging more for using an adapted taxi, (taxis which are designed to carry more than 4 passengers.) This is discrimination. The piece of legislation that protects people in wheelchairs from being overcharged has not yet come in to play so the government is allowing these drivers to carry on taking financial advantage of wheelchair users and the disabled.
If you would like to support the petition please follow this link http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/kris-hopkins-mp-to- enact-section-165-of-the-equality-act-2010-to-stop-private- hire-operators-taking-financial-advantage-overcharging- wheelchair-disabled-passengers
