William Branham was a Pentecostal evangelist during the 1940s 50s and 60s.

But his followers are trained to believe and promote the idea that he was a Baptist minister.

As a little, baby boy, three minutes old, the Pillar of Fire hung over where I was born in a little
log cabin in Kentucky. All my life, It's come to me, giving me visions. I'm a Baptist preacher, out
of a Missionary Baptist church, ordained by Dr. Roy E. Davis out of Dallas, Texas, and was
made a local elder for the church at Jeffersonville. My first revival, five hundred came to Jesus
Christ out of a three thousand congregation when I was twenty--about twenty-two years old. I
was baptizing them down at the end of Spring Street in Jeffersonville, Indiana, in the Ohio
River, when... nearly seven or eight thousand people standing on the bank, bear witness, that
two o'clock in the evening, June, 1933, how that a Pillar of Fire come down out of heaven, and
hung over where I was standing.
Branham, 55-0227E

Those in the religious following who witness Branhamism to others use these Baptist
claims for what appears to be common ground.

What they do not tell you is that through William Branhams teaching, many points in the
Christian Statement of Faith are rejected.

Here are some examples:

We believe the Bible to be inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God (2
Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 3:16

God, in sundry times, we read here. "God, in sundry times," that's old times, divers manners,
many ways, identified Himself to His prophets by visions. That was the characteristic of a
prophet, was when he foretold things and it happened. Now that was his characteristic of his
identification, that God was with him. Then that give him the rights to interpret the Word for
that day, because, The Word of God come to the prophets, the characteristic of the prophet
that He foretold. Branham, 64-0320

Now, I'm just your brother, by the grace of God. But when the Angel of the Lord moves down,
It becomes, then, a Voice of God to you, Branham, 51-0505

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son
and Holy Spirit. (Isaiah 48:12-16, John 15:26-27)

You say, The blessed holy trinity. Find me the word trinity anywhere in the pages of God's
Bible. It's a man-made scheme, an old dirty church rag wrapped around to take the place of
the sap Line of God's Holy Spirit. There's no such a thing. There's no such a thing. You find it
and come to me. You're duty bound to do it as a Christian, if you find it. It's not in God's holy
Writings. And the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is hatched out of hell; there's no such a thing as
three Gods.
Branham, 59-0823

Trinitarianism is of the devil! I say that THUS SAITH THE LORD! Look where it come from. It
come from the Nicene Council when the Catholic church become in rulership. The word
"trinity" is not even mentioned in the entire Book of the Bible. Branham, 61-0108

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless
life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in
His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His
personal return in power and glory. (John 11:25-26, John 14:2-3)

The Spirit left Him, in the garden of Gethsemane. He had to die, a man. Remember, friends, He
didn't have to do that. That was God. God anointed that flesh, which was human flesh. And He
didn't... If He'd have went up there, as God, He'd have never died that kind of death; can't kill
God.
Branham, 65-0418

And Christ was... He never... God wouldn't have sent Him to--to hell pure. He had to send Him
to hell condemned (See?), because He took our sins. And Christ died, not righteous; Christ died
a sinner.
Branham, 55-0227

We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man regeneration by the Holy Spirit
is absolutely essential. We believe that salvation is based on grace and grace alone,
not by any works. (John 14:16-17, Ephesians 2:8-9)

You can't mix it now. You're either for God or against God, and the outward expressions shows
exactly what's on the inside. See? The cocklebur... Many of you think, I got the baptism of the
Holy Ghost, I'm going to Heaven. That don't mean one thing that you're going to Heaven. No,
sir. You can have the baptism of the Holy Ghost every hour in your life, and still be lost and go
to hell. The Bible says so.
Branham, 65-1207

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the
Christian is enabled to live a Godly life. (John 14:26, Romans 8:26)

The Elijah of this day is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is to come according to Matthew the
seventeen-... Luke 17:30, says the Son of man is to reveal Himself among His people. Not a man,
God! But it'll come through a prophet. Now, He never had two major prophets at the same
time, never, in the world.
Branham, 65-1127B

Now look. Notice now, united together under one Headship, in a like manner, type of Israel of
old. Now you getting it? Like Israel of old; one God, vindicated by a Pillar of Fire, and revealed
Hisself through a prophet, to be the Word. The same God, same Pillar of Fire, same way; He
cannot change His ways.
Branham, 63-0728

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 12:4-
5, Colossians 2:2)

See now who is the leader of this modern, religious, evil age? It's the devil, taking that tree of
good and evil, and placing it out there, notice, bringing his beautiful church bride to the
ecumenical council for a wedding. That's a good one. His beautiful scientific church, with all
the--the--the degrees that can be gotten; the Ph.D's out of the church of Christ, the Ph.D's out of
the Baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostals, and all. Bringing them all, with their decorated fineries
and big churches, all to the ecumenical council, "We are one." It'll never be forgiven them. A
denomination, to wear the brand of a denomination, is the mark of the beast.
Branham, 65-0801M

The Branham religion is largely unorganized. No two churches believe the same doctrinal
teaching.

But most followers are taught to accept these points as their statement of faith.
