Specific Purpose: To celebrate the life of one of the best U.S presidents. Thesis Statement: A statesman can be easily defined as a person that lives for the serving of his country; a statesman is an advocate for righteousness and a servant of justice and equality. Introduction 1. Attention-getter: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. It is rather important that, as we celebrate the life of Thomas Jefferson, remember these words not only as the preamble of the Declaration of Independence but as a testament of this mans life. 2. A. Thomas Jefferson is widely known for his work in politics and is rarely recognized for his talents and other professions. President Jefferson was one of the countrys best architects, designing buildings that consist of the University of Virginia, the Virginia Capitol, and his home at Monticello. He was also a talented inventor, he, for instance created a special type of music stand for his fellow chamber musicians. No matter the product he always seemed to positively affect those around him.
B. Jefferson was agreeably one of the finest politicians of his time frame. He is often only recognized as the third president of the United States. People, it seems too often, neglect the fact that he authored the Declaration of independence or the fact that he was the father of the University of Virginia. He, along with the Declaration of Independence, wrote a document that sparked a change in the way religious freedoms were handled by individual state governments. (Internal Summary/Transition: His work in the Virginia government and his work on the Declaration of Independence display his humble and caring personality.) 2. Main Idea 2: President Jefferson was a genuinely caring and humble person.
A. Thomas Jefferson was a caring politician that never served in the interest of himself. He truly believed in the equality of all men. We know this because he fathered two children of a different race, which was highly frowned upon. There were no barriers to his kindness, and while he only lived on this world for a short time he made an exponential change in America.
B. This man was also humble. While serving as president he saw it as a privilege and an opportunity to serve rather than looking at it as a job. He felt this way so much in fact that when writing his epitaph he didnt include Third president of the United States of America. With his views towards equality and justice it is fair to say that he was a humble servant to the People.

And I ask of you, the audience, as a fellow American, do not mourn the death of this man but celebrate his life, for it is not usual to have a man like Thomas Jefferson amongst us.
