Overall, including both the portfolio and the portfolio conversation, how well do you feel you demonstrated accomplishment of the SDA programs learning outcomes:
Overall, I feel that my portfolio and the accompanying presentation show that I have fulfilled all ten of the SDA learning outcomes. This collection of artifacts represents a collection of what I feel is truly my best academic work produced to date. I rated myself at a 4 instead of a 5 for accomplishment of the learning outcomes because of some discussion that occurred with my committee after my presentation. While I feel that I have fully demonstrated mastery of the learning outcomes, some of my portfolio artifacts may not have been the most authentic way in which to demonstrate that mastery. We are asked to focus on academic content in our portfolio artifacts, and I had no problem finding academic pieces with which to fill it, however most of my moments of learning that have been most transformative while in this program have been in the application of course material to my work outside of the classroom. The structure of the portfolio is such that this is very difficult to quantify and make into an artifact, and so some of the demonstrations of learning are less authentically me than I would like, even though they are technically complete. I was, however, able to discuss some of these learnings and even tie them back to my portfolio during my presentation. Having the freedom to do so made my presentation a strong articulation of what I have learned in the program from a holistic perspective that included both academic and non- academic aspects.

SDA Outcome #1: Understanding the foundation and emerging nature of the Student Affairs profession and higher education
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: While this is articulated in my portfolio, I do not think that I gave this learning outcome particular emphasis, particularly the foundations of the profession. I do feel, however that the emerging nature is tied to LO 5 and LO 2, and I have tied some of the explanation of this learning outcome to others in order to address it. SDA Outcome #2: Understanding students and student issues
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: I have articulated mastery of this learning outcome well (and probably address it indirectly even in artifacts that emphasize different LOs). Since this learning outcome is at the core of our profession, on some level, most items in my portfolio have some element of understanding student issues to them. SDA Outcome #3: Exhibiting professional integrity and ethical leadership in professional practice
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: While professional integrity is well articulated in my portfolio, I had more difficulty with the ethical leadership component of this artifact. While I feel that I have practiced ethical leadership in this program, my artifacts may reflect that only indirectly since few courses ask about this issue head-on. SDA Outcome #4: Understanding and fostering diversity, justice and a sustainable world informed by a global perspective and the Jesuit Catholic tradition
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: I feel that I articulated this learning outcome well, particularly where I want to go in regards to continued learning around diversity and social justice. One area of potential improvement, however, is the more explicit articulation of how Jesuit values play into this. I found that I have a tendency to take this for granted since, to me, Jesuit values ARE student affairs values, and so I can sometimes not give uniquely Jesuit aspects of our work the airtime that they deserve. SDA Outcome #5: Adapting student services to specific environments and cultures
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: This is particularly well represented in my work with CWU as part of my internship. Since the environment and student population were so different from what I had worked with before, I feel that I was able to articulate the need for adaptation very well. SDA Outcome #6: Developing and demonstrating skills in leadership and collaboration
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: This learning outcome is demonstrated most clearly in my distinctive contribution, as this was an independent project that required a great deal of leadership and collaboration. It also inspired another paper that ended up being an additional portfolio artifact where I discuss the application of theory to the practice of leadership, and so my articulation of this outcome is particularly strong. SDA Outcome #7:
3 Utilizing assessment, evaluation, technology, and research to improve practice
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: This learning outcome has been a clear area of focus for me in my time in the SDA program. Because of this natural interest, I have included multiple artifacts that address this outcome, as well as having work experiences not included in the portfolio that have furthered this learning. SDA Outcome #8: Communicating effectively, in speech and in writing
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: The portfolio process itself is an excellent example of how I communicate effectively in speech and writing. I have taken a body of work on many different subjects compiled over two different years and tied it together in a mere 2700 words and a 15 minute presentation. I communicate important ideas and themes quickly, efficiently, and effectively. SDA Outcome #9: Understanding issues surrounding law, policy, finance and governance
5 4 3 2 1
Comments: Law & policy in particular are well represented in my portfolio. This is another area of natural interest for me and, as such, is well documented and of high quality. SDA Outcome #10: Establishing and enhancing professional identity 5 4 3 2 1
Comments: Several artifacts within my portfolio demonstrate how I have intentionally sought out experiences that I had not had previously in order to broaden my perspective as a professional.
