Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to express my views about the impact of adult
graded cinemas on young minds. Films are a craze among the young people. Full of foreign imitation,
vulgarity, sex, cheapromance, catchy and unhealthy songs etc., have their harmful influence on the
modern youth. The fashions and pseudo-adventures of their heros and heroines will sooner than later get
into trouble. The films are responsible to a great extent for the acts of indiscipline, disobedience by the
youths of today. It is absolutely necessary that our censor authorities should be strict and not approve a
movie if it is likely to mislead the youth.

ANS: (i) Importance of Blood Donation
Air and water sustain human life. Besides the human body also requires blood for all its
functions, toss or lack of blood spells doom to the very existence of man t Often we come across
accident victims who need immediate blood transfusion or expectant mothers whose loss of blood
has to be made good forthwith or cases of surgery Where the patients need several bottles of blood
for survival. Be in war or peace, blood donation is a laudable act and blessed are those who come to
the rescue of their fellowmen. By donating blood we make other people live who need our blood.
There cannot be a better form of charity or good work than simply donating one's blood to the needy
ones. One's body produces enough blood to sustain oneself and even can spare a few pints of blood
to save the precious lives of the injured and the sick ones. This is the basic concept of blood
donation. It has no improper effect on the person who donates blood. There is a mistaken belief that
blood once pumped out cannot be replenished and the .donor is doomed to suffer. Far from it. the
body makes and replaces the blood loss within a few weeks.

The modern system of livelihood is solely related to science. Men are totally dependent on
science. Science has paved a new path of advancement in men's life in every nook and corner of his
living. Everything seems to be at the tip of his finger. Whatever he want he can do, sitting in his own
chair. Luxury has reached its acme by the new inventions made by men with the aid. of science.
Most of us judge science by what it has done to increase the happiness of mankind. It has done a
great service to mankind. It has brought about changes in our every day life. In every sphere, we
depend on one or the other invention of science.
Science has gi ven us a number of quick and safer means of transport and
communication. These have helped to destroy the barriers of time and distance. Now
every corner of the world is easil y accessible by means of rail ways, ships and aeroplanes. This has
made the world look smaller and created a feeling of international sympathy and brotherhood among the
people.
The modern means of communication enable us to send messages almost immediately to any
part of the world. They have made the spread of knowledge and education possible in every corner
of the world. People all over the world are benefited from the wisdom of a nation. There is a constant
exchange of ideas among the peoples of different countries. This has helped to create a better
understanding of one another's problems and points of view.
Science has brought comfort and safety to every indi vidual, Now we can grow more food in
the fields than even before. Most of Our work is now done by machines. This saves labour and
gives us more time for recreation and research work.
Science has given us a number of things which have made domestic life comfortable. For
example, electricity lights our houses, cooks our food, washes our clothes, keeps us warm in
winter and cool in summer.
Science has provided us with various means of healthy recreation. Radio and television not
only entertain us but have also proved very useful from the educational point of view. The
invention of the printing press has enabled us to enrich our minds with the knowledge of all the
ages. It has also made the appearance of newspapers possible.
Medical science has helped to increase the longevity of human life. Now no disease is
regarded as incurable. Now it is possible even to replace almost every part of the human body.

The cultivation of this quality is of the greatest importance; resolute determination in the
pursuit of worthy objects being the foundation of all true greatness of character. Energy enables a
man to force his way through irksome drudgery and dry details, and carries him onward and upward
in every station in life, It accomplishes more than genius, with not one-half the disappointment and
peril. It is not eminent talent that is required to ensure success in any pursuit, so much as purpose,
not merely the power to achieve, but the will to labour energetically and persevering. Hence
energy of will may be defined to be the very central power of character in a man in a word, it is
the Man himself. It gives impulse to his every action, and soul to every effort. Thus hope is based on
it, and it is hope that gives the real perfume to life.

Precis : The belief that Norse-men have trust in pure strength is amply revealed by the fact
that their god is represented carrying hammer. Strength is an impression of sturdy independence
and this is maintained by Norsemen to the present day. Energy is an extremely important quality in
a truly great character. It is the energetic individuals who make a state strong. Energy can ac-
complish more than even genius and talent, what matters in life is not the power to achieve but the
will to work ceaselessly for the goal. This needs energy. A good and minute observer can
understand the character of a person by seeing his trivial actions. The cultivation of this quality
(energy) is of paramount importance as it provides the resolution so badly needed in pursuit of
noble objects and is the very basis of true and great character.

Keshav and Yash lived in neighbouring villages. Once, a fair was held nearby and they set
off from their homes hoping to do some business there. Keshav his sack with cheap cotton, overlaid
it with a layer of fine wool, and set off for the fair. Meanwhile Yash, collected some old clothes, put
.a layer of sheer cotton on top and made his way to the fair. Each stopped to rest under a tree and
got to talking. "I have the finest wool in my sack," boasted Keshav. Not to be outdone. Yash said, "I
have cotton of the most superior quality.
The two struck a deal. They would exchange their goods and since wool was more
expensive, Yash would pay Keshav an extra rupee. But Yash had no money on him. So after
agreeing to pay Keshav later, they went home, laughing at each other's folly. It did not take
them long to discover that they had been duped. The next day, Keshav landed at Yash's house,
You cheat! Give me my rupee at l east." Yash was untroubl ed by Keshav' s words,
"Of course. But first help me find the treasure at the bottom of this well. We can divide it."
So Keshav went into the well. But each time Yash, hauled up the bucket Keshav had filled,
he said, "Oh! No treasure here. Try again." Kesha soon realised he was bei ng Used
as free labour to clean the well. So he gave a loud shout, "Here is the treasure! Watch out it's
heavy!" Yash was amazed that there actually was treasure in the well. As soon as he pulled
up the bucket he threw away the rope so that Keshav could not come up. But, what did he
find in the bucket? Kesha covered in mud! They began fighting again. Soon it got too dark to
continue and they left for their homes.
But Keshav did not give up easily. He arrived at Yash's house a few days later. Yash
spotted him and told his wife, "I will pretend to be dead. Keshav will have to give up." But when
Keshav heard Yash's wife wailing, he rushed out to gather the villagers. "My friend has
died. Let's take his body for cremation." Yash's wife got scared, "Go away. I shall arrange for
cremation Myself 1" But the villagers thought she was too grief stricken. Once they reached the
cremation ground, Keshav told the 'villagers, "It is getting dark. I shall watch over fain during the
night." When the villagers had left, Keshav said to Yash, "Stop pretending. Give me my money !"
Now, a gang of thieves came upon them and seeing one figure seated on the funeral pyre
and another standing next to him talking, they assumed them to be ghosts and dropped their
bag of stolen goods and left at top speed. The two, saw the bag full of gold and silver
ornaments and divided it between themselves. Keshav made sure he got an extra gold coin
and the account was settled at last!

whole body and keeps one active throughout the day. It gives natural energy boost and revitalizes us. It also helps in
getting better sleep. At the seminar the speaker apprised us on how morning walk helps in controlling blood sugar
level and blood pressure. It is like a medicine for suppressing hypertension and stress which are common features of
todays lifestyle.
Daily walk helps in improving muscular strength and metabolism of the body which helps us in reducing our weight.
Even I feel more active and healthier since I have started morning walk.
I know it is very difficult to wake up early in the morning and taking out time from your hectic schedule. It will be
grueling for initial days but it gives long run benefits.

Youth is the future builder of the nation. They should be well equipped morally to discharge their duty to their

will be there.
(1) Youth can undergo any type of sacrifice. They have the vigor vitality and stamina to face the greatest hardship.
They can fight for national integration. They can improve the hygienic conditions in villages by adult education.

Indian women are seldom safe at their workplaces. There is a dire need to change the scenario. We need to make
our mothers, sisters, daughters and wives feel more secure and protected, only then they can grow and achieve their
goals in professional lives. If this problem continue to persist, there will be increased absenteeism, reduced
efficiency, damage to their image and above all, their freedom will be snatched which they have got just a few years
ago.
Many authorities are working towards it and a few Acts have also been enacted. It should also be the responsibility
of employers to provide safe and secure working environment to women. We need to ensure that this problem is

Marriage, an auspicious occasion of a sacred union of two souls, where they take vows in front of all the invitees.
People gather to show their support and to give blessings to the couple for their life long journey they are about to
begin.
But is it always so that guests have come to shower their blessings? Well, people attend wedding for different
purposes. Major segment of invitees consist of friends and relatives who have actually come to share the joy and the
bliss of a young married couple. Other segment of invitees consists of neighbors and colleagues who have some
social compulsion being a part of the society.

educated and they should be taught some vocational skills also which can eventually help them to make a living out
of it.
The local authorities have already started working in this direction as now schools reserve certain percentage of seats
for people from such background. Furthermore, setting up of more industries in the city will help in increasing the job
opportunities for jobless poor people. Business houses can also help in alleviating poverty by training and hiring
unemployed workers, charging less for goods and services from low income group and by purchasing ancillary goods
and services from local enterprises that employ unemployed workers. Banks can also do their bit by providing micro-
finance to the poor who are willing to make a difference in their lives.
The concept of self-help groups should also be encouraged. Tourism can also be used as a vehicle to eradicate
poverty if well planned. Many people are dying of the hunger and non-availability of good healthcare facilities; some
are even committing suicide because they are not able to get out of this vicious circle. So, it is an imperative situation
that is to be handled at its earliest.

Obesity is a condition where excess body fat accumulates to the extent that it starts to adversely affect the health of
an individual. In the recent years, it has become a global phenomenon. India has an increasing number of obesity
cases which has become a threat for us. Obesity increases risk for various diseases and it can even cause a death.
The foremost reason of obesity is bad eating habits. The food habits or eating habits means what and how people
eat. Unhealthy eating habits such as eating fast food, processed food, food containing preservatives, tinned food,
drinking too much alcohol and carbonated beverages which are taken as synonyms for toilet cleaner; and overeating
can result into obesity. If you look around, you will realize that new generation is utterly dependent on junk food to
satisfy their appetite. However, a bad diet is not the only thing that causes obesity, lifestyle of an individual also
affect health specially an abdomen.
Todays generation do not have a fixed time schedule for taking meals, sometimes they even skip a meal because of
their hectic life. Another trigger is lack of physical activity owing to which body does not use the energy it gets from
the food we eat and additional calories get stored as fat in the body. Some people tend to put an additional weight
because of genetic factors while some might have medical ailment which leads to weight gain and obesity.
Because of all the above discussed reasons, obesity is increasing not only in elders but in children also. It is an issue
of great concern as our new generation is becoming unhealthy and lethargic. Altering eating habits by including more
natural food in your diet, drinking more water, avoiding fast food and carbonated beverages can help an individual to
get rid of obesity.
An effort can be made to change the disturbed lifestyle; one should take proper meals in time, rather than skipping
it. Regular exercise also helps to get back into shape and stay fit. Some medical treatments are also available. To
have sound mind, we need to have sound health. So our ultimate aim should be to curb the obesity as it is rightly
said, Health is Wealth.

For a developing country like India where numbers of people still are deprived of the basic necessities of life, notion
of socio-economic development is of great concern. Socio-economic development means an overall development of a
country in terms of industrial development, development of agriculture and trade, GDP, literacy, levels of
employment rate etc. but the issue is how it can be done, whether banks should be operated as tools for
improvement of socio-economic status of the people have money to save of the country or banks should be left with
commercial motive?
Initially banks were regarded as an intermediary between those who have money to save and those who are in need
of it. With the passage of time and adoption of LPG policy has made banks to widen their scope of activities. And
today, banks are considered as leaders in economic development. For socio-economic development, we need money
and banks are the only fountain head for capital formation in the country. In India, large amount of untapped capital
is available for investment. Only we need exploiting this idle capital and this can be done only through banks.
With the help of their new schemes in different areas of operation, banks can also generate direct and indirect
employment which will help in raising standard of living of the society. Banks have started looking after the needs of
the small farmers and the new entrepreneurs. Therefore, banks can be used as a device for socio-economic
development in the country.
On the contrary, banks are profit making organizations. If banks focus on socio-economic development of a country
by charging low interest rate and providing services at nominal rates then they wont be able to survive in the
market. It will just overburden the banks which affect the effectiveness of their primary functions.

Human life is a journey from Birth to Death. In between Birth and death, a person has to decide an aim of life and
try to achieve it. Aim of life is something which can answer certain questions which one can ask himself. What
exactly I do wish my life to look like? How would I like to be with other people in my life? What would I like to do
2years to 10years from now? And so on.
I have come up with a list which showed me the best version on me that I can be. The primary aim of my life is
living with a purpose and passion. Everyday living for my Guru and Glory of God. Be a great daughter, mother, sister

trip from Chandigarh to New Delhi.
Firstly, the train was extremely dirty. It felt like that floor has been cleaned a long ago. The creepy toilets further
added to the poor hygiene condition of the train. Also, the windows were streaked with handprints. Another
deficiency in service was the poor quality of food and beverages provided by the railway. The food was not fresh and
as per the standard quality. Yet another concern is that railway employees were rude to the passengers. Even at
asking for the time, they were yelling around. Finally, the delays we encountered were caused by poor planning. The
train was late by an hour without any reason, due to which many of the Co-passengers also missed their important
appointments. Moreover, some conceited people were travelling without tickets and there was nobody to keep a
check on their activities.
The service quality of railway is deteriorating day by day. I hope you will take steps to address these issues with your
trains.

schemes have increased the growth of poverty. So there is an urgent need to curtail population growth by adopting
strict family planning programmes by government. There is also need to increase rural and urban development by
better management of Government schemes. By strict implementation of these schemes poverty can be reduced to a
great extent.
The second most important socio-economic problem in India is unemployment. About 9.4% of Indian population is
unemployed or under- employed. To reduce this problem, the Government is devising new and effective schemes like
Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employement Guarantee Scheme (MGREGS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Rojgar Yojna (JNRY), it
is possible to reduce the rate of unemployment.
The other major problem faced by our country is lack of quality education. Many children in rural India does not
have any access to good schools and quality education, despite of government efforts on compulsory education and
child labour ban. Poverty eradication and improvement of rural schools should be a priority for the government of
India.
Corruption is the other widespread problem faced by present India. In India corruption takes the form of Bribes,
evasion of taxes, misappropriation of funds, fraudulent conversion of property etc. Apart from this, corruption also
leads to an unethical society. This increases the already existing gap between poor and rich. This social evil needs to
be removed as to bring back moral values in the society.
The above problems being faced by Modern India cannot be solved by just introducing Government policies and
schemes, but these can be definitely reduced by peoples participation and willingness to commit ourselves to social
values, equality and education.

corruption and masters in corruption. Sadly there is a little bit of corruption in almost every individual. Corruption is

post with higher salary is also corrupt. Corruption is at every level.
In developing country like India, rise in salaries of people is 10% every year but the rise in corruption in last few

Nuclear family is a family which consists of parent and their biological children (siblings). Like every other thing
nuclear family as well have its advantages and disadvantages. Advantages such as small furnished house consist of
two to three rooms, rather than more rooms like in joint family. In this family they dont have to share their things
like toys, books, sweets, and room with any one. They have their everything separate.
Both working parents are earning for their one or two children only. With these so many advantages, the things
which they have missed are advices of elders, small cute fighting of cousins and the most important thing is sharing
and children of nuclear family dont even know how to share. They just want everything of their own.
People of these days are just running behind money. They want to earn more and more, by sacrificing their
important relations, and the worst part is they dont realize what they had lost.

The above adage is self explanatory. It is in the nature of dogs to bark. There are dogs which bark too much, too

which should be feared and not the first kind referred to above.
A non- barking dog is livelier to turn ferocious and consequently even bites. On the contrary, the dogs are referred to

Well! Dog in the proverb is merely symbolic of a truth that extends to even the realm of human beings. I learnt this
lesson quite early, in class seventh. My classmate jai prakash was a stout looking; vociferous fellow who would brow
beat the poor, innocent looking boys of the class. For no reason, he would shout at them. He reveled in intimidating
others. No one dared to oppose him being quite aware of this rogue behavior.
One day he appeared out of blue and pushed me by the neck while i was walking. My temper ran high at this
behavior and without a thought of consequence i whacked him. The bully was taken aback. He ran. I chased. Others
watched in delight and shouted in chorus, encouraging me to go on. That day i also realized the import of the
proverb.
Since then i have stopped taking too seriously, people who bark too much. I came across nagging clerks, shouting
baboos and quarrelsome ladies, as everyone does not too infrequently. And every time I find my way through,
thanks to a clearer understanding of the above mentioned proverb.

Because strong body supports a strong mind. So there is the need of change in this peculiar Indian mindset.
Government should give due importance to games and sports as it gives to other departments. The government
should play the role of a mother instead of a cool guardian. Active government support will infuse a sense of sport-
love in common people.
Each colony or village should have its sports-club. Sport-clubs should be given much importance. The village or town
community should take part in the decision making of sports clubs. The process will bring an age of democracy in
sports-world. Through such a major, there is step of finding out sport-genius.
Nearly 70% of Indias population dwells in villages. In Indian villages there is no proper infrastructure for the
development of games and sports. There is no proper play-ground in villages. In absence of play-ground, the
community games cannot be played. This is the main reason behind lacking team spirit among Indians. Therefore,
first of all, operation-play ground should be initiated in India. This should not be a village centered operation. But
this should have an all India character.
The development in games and sports is not in isolated phenomenon. It is the part of an overall development. We
should have an integral approach for the development. If the economy of a country grows, the interest of people in
games grows.
We should assign equal importance to many games, not be cricket or badminton centered only. All these approaches
and programmes can be assimilated into a single one as integrated sports development programmes.

The only values held by society are pleasure and instant gratification. Moral values are something which is hereditary
or a child inherits from our elders , such as parents and other members of the family. These are the values which are
present in a person itself ,thing he/she can do is improve them or polish them as the requirement or need of the time
or situation.
People in modern society are losing their moral values. There are three reasons to support this statement. These
reasons are the materialism could negatively affect peoples moral values, public manners could influence peoples
moral values and the internet could also influence moral values.
These days we can see that a decline in traditional family values; marriage between a man and a woman; sense of
responsibility regarding in making it on your own; belief in your God; pride in your country and your workmanship.
An alarming increase in out-of-wedlock, births, particularly in the black community.
A decline of respect for public school teachers and people in position of authority is eroding our great nation. our
society has been on a downward spiral when it comes to values. You can see this in all the shootings that happen
everywhere, as well as places where one used to feel safe, like school campus, that are now danger zones. Also all
the issues with unlawful posting of erotic pictures and not to mention child pornography. Technology has played a
big role in promoting this, but the fact that people has no value make it worse.
People no longer care that how their interactions with others effect the outside world. Today everything is about
instant pleasure and gratification. One can do whatever one want to do to anyone, but they done not do it back to
me. One can close the door in someones face, push them aside in annoyance or publicity humiliate them. Anything
that gives me a shot of pleasure is acceptable- because I am exception.
If we want to change the world so that our future remains secured we have to change our attitude about ourselves,
that Aim this, can do it, I can do it, I want this, I want that, I am, I am and I am. At least spare few seconds of your
life and listen to others, and mark my words you will never regret this.

Descriptive Topic-If the polar ice melt, what will be the consequences?

1. Polar region is a complete eco-system with flora, fauna and natural landscape in all its brilliance, which is
inextricably linked with the biotic system of the world. Melting of polar ice will mean collapse of the polar ice-system
and consequently it will also have a deleterious impact on the bio system of the world.
2. Perhaps the gravest consequence of the melting of ice will be the sudden rise in the sea level. In fact scientists
have been warning from time to time that the rise in the mean temperature of the world, which is being witnessed
over the decades, will in due course result in the melting of the polar ice which will raise the mean sea level so high
that a major part of the world will be flooded. It is not difficult to imagine the consequences of this flooding- a large
scale death, destruction and devastation so as to endanger the very existence of human beings.
3. Perhaps the only positive consequence of the melting of polar ice cap could be the tiding over the storage of clean
drinking water which is today one of the gravest problems being faced in the world.
4. A majority of the people in the developing world remains devoid of clean drinking water. They have to depend
either on the meager rainfall or on contaminated water resulting in severe health hazards. Melting of polar ice mean
an instant solution to this problem, provided of course mankind is able to successfully channelize the gigantic surge
of water.

unable to pay our EMI from February 2013 . We request you to give us a further holiday of six
months and we shall commence remitting our EMI starting from August 2013. We have been paying
the interest on loan debited in our account regularly by debit to our cash credit account.
In view of the reasons explained above, we are sure you will consider our request for postponement
for payment of EMI to August 2013.
