PRESIDENTS REPORT 2013 / 2014 Season

Fellow Griffins, it is with pleasure that I take this opportunity to present the end of season
report in my first year as President of Kincumber-Avoca Cricket Club (KACC). The past
season has been very successful for our Club, with a well-deserved yet hard fought win in
the Premier League Grand Final and strong performances right across the board which
included Grand Final appearances by our 3rds, 4ths and 8th division teams. Winning the
Club Championship for the first time since 2009 was also a perfect way to end a
wonderful summer of cricket.

In a season where our players produced some outstanding individual performances, I
would like to congratulate Michael Pate who won the Steve Milne Medal for the Players
Player of the Year in Premier League, Brent Dawes for winning the Turf Player of the
Year and Chris Johnston who won the Synthetic Player of the Year. Whilst on outstanding
contributions, Id like to make special mention of our coaching staff, Jamie Rowe and
Mark Danckert whose commitment to excellence laid the foundation for our success on
the field in the seniors. Perc Cohen also worked tirelessly during the year as our My
Cricket Administrator and co-ordinator of the lower grades.

The 2013/14 season also proved fruitful for our young Griffins who achieved success by
taking out the 17As, 13Cs and the under 9s premierships. Special mention must be
made of Darcy Dunlop Junior Player of the year and Stephen Coates Encouragement
Award winner. It was also a breakthrough season for many of our young juniors who
stepped up and filled in when needed in the senior grades. Their enthusiasm for cricket
was truly inspiring. With such talented juniors the future certainly looks bright for our club.

Once again Id like to thank Rod Ursem for his role in organising and coordinating the
junior teams and Steve Milne for his contribution to Milo Cricket. Thank you also to the
many volunteers who gave freely of their time as coaches, scorers and managers, your
efforts underpin the development of our young juniors and I sincerely hope that you stay
involved next season.

On behalf of the club Id also like to extend a big thank you to Dan and Jamie Rowe for
their dedication and commitment to running the development squad during the season.
Their ability to encourage, foster and transfer skills to young players is exemplary and
culminated in the U17s taking out the premiership. I look forward to seeing these boys
further develop their skills in grade next season.

On a personal note, over the past season I have been privileged to work with an
extraordinary group of people on our committee, their efforts and dedication to the club is
outstanding and very much appreciated. During the summer several new changes were
introduced to strengthen the financial stability of our club. A policy of paying fees up front
at time of registration has improved our bottom line and enabled us to plan better and
purchase new items of equipment. Understandably, this was a tough decision to make
but with allowances for hardship, the implementation of the new arrangements did not
impact too heavily on players nor in the way teams were selected. I thank all players for
their patience and the manner in which they responded to this necessary change.

Whilst on the committee, I would like to highlight the substantial contribution made by Vice
President Mark Danckert who not only coached our Premier League side to victory but
also prepared the wicket at Erina Oval during the summer. Mark was well supported by
Sully, Howie and a team of dedicated volunteers who turned up each match to produce
the coasts number one ground on which to play cricket. Special mention must also be
made of Dave and Kath Robertson who worked tirelessly in the canteen and produced a
tidy profit for the club. Lyn Sullivan was also one of the first to put up her hand when
assistance was needed.

During the season our club was well served by our Secretary, Stephanie Lavery who
provided professional support and co-ordinated the Griffins commitments to District
Cricket. A special thanks also to our Treasurer Danny Rowe whose integrity, expertise
and strategic oversight of our finances contributed strongly to the stability and future of our
club. A big thank you also goes to our Patrons, Rod Masters and Ian Moad who provided
encouragement and support when needed by the club.

Communication remains a very big issue for our club and is a vital tool for reaching out to
our members and those interested in the progress of cricket on the coast. The club is well
served in this area of our operations and extends its appreciation to Danny Rowe for
updating and maintaining our website. A big thank you also goes to Hannah Pate who is
not only a sponsor of the club but also looks after our social media.

KACC appreciates the special relationship it has with our sponsors. In particular Erina
Leagues Club continues as our major sponsor and provides not only material support but
also important amenities when needed by our club. I sincerely hope this relationship
prospers well into the future for the mutual benefit of both clubs. Support from our junior
team sponsors also remains an important part of our operations as their assistance is
much appreciated and contributes heavily to our ability to purchase new equipment for
our junior players.

Lastly, I would like to congratulate Michael Pate who was awarded Life Membership for
his long and meritorious service to our club at the annual presentation night held at Erina
League Club. Well done Michael.

Yours in Cricket

John Buchanan
