EDCU11020: Science Curriculum and Pedagogy

Four Digital Task Cards are designed to develop independent learning of science
within a small group in a primary classroom. The four digital task cards are each
aligned to Science Understanding Sub Strand of The Australian Curriculum: Science.
The task cards provide Information and Computer Technology within the classroom
to provide further skills and development of each child.

Different
materials can be
combined,
including by
mixing, for a
particular
purpose
Earths surface
changes over
time as a result
of natural
processes and
human activity
Electrical
circuits provide
a means of
transferring and
transforming
electricity
Interactions
between organisms
can be described in
terms of food chains
and food webs;
human activity can
affect these
interactions
Description
of Task
Throughout the
task, students will
be required to
explore how bread
is made through
visual and audio
presentations,
identify the
process in which
bread is made,
communicate
through writing an
understanding of
the process and
creation of bread,
investigate how
different
ingredients
combine to create
a different product
and present a
completed picture
timeline. By using
this digital task
card students will
be able to guide
and monitor their
own learning,
develop an
understanding of
the topic at their
own pace and
interact with
different forms of
media.
In the science
topic of Earth and
Space students
will explore how
erosion is
effecting the
Earths surface,
identify that
erosion is
occurring locally,
communicate
through writing an
understanding of
erosion, research
and discuss
strategies to
prevent further
erosion. By
interaction with
these digital task
cards, student will
be able to guide
and monitor their
own learning,
develop an
understanding of
erosion at their
own pace, interact
with different
forms of media
and develop
methods of
research.
Students are
required to
investigate and
explore different
types of electrical
conductors and
insulators.
Students are
required to
engage in an
online simulation,
questionnaire,
YouTube
demonstrations
and elements of
Conductors, Light
Bulb structures
and Insulators to
complete this
task. Students will
be able to
recognize and
create their own
complete circuit
allowing correct
flow of electricity.
An introduction to
Food Chains is
required for this
class. Through
discussion,
brainstorming ideas,
YouTube Video
Clips,
questionnaires and
group activities,
students will acquire
knowledge and an
understanding of The
Food Chain.
Students will
recognize and have
an
understanding of
Indigenous Survival
required for this task.
Students will also be
required to create
their own
understanding of a
Food Chain
