$$The Travancore-cochin chemicals limited (TCC), a Government of Kerala
Undertaking, is a pioneer in the field of manufacturing Caustic soda and
chlorine products hich are !asic industrial chemicals" #resentl$ TCC has an
installed capacit$ to produce 1%& 'T#( caustic soda, %2 'T#( li)uid
chlorine, *&+ 'T#( *2, commercial -C. acid and /& 'T#( sodium
h$pochlorite"
$% 0or the production of caustic soda TCC emplo$s mem!rane cell technolog$
hich is considered to !e the most environment friendl$ technolog$ availa!le"
$+The Travancore-cochin chemicals limited (TCC) is situated at Ud$ogamandal
in Cochin 1ndustrial !elt" The factor$ and registered office is located 2+Km
from Kochi 1nternational 2irport, 1& Km from 3rnakulam 4aila$ station and
15 km from 6allarpadam terminal"
$;The compan$ as originall$ started as Travancore 7 'ettur Chemical Co" in
18/8 (a partnership !eteen 02CT and 'ettur Chemical 7 1ndustrial
Corporation .td) during the time of 9eshasa$ee :rothers ith 2+ 'T caustic
soda per da$ production capacit$" .ater the Government of Travancore Cochin
ac)uired the Compan$ and thus in 18;+ it !ecame a Government undertaking
under the name <Travancore-Cochin Chemicals .td=" TCC achieved a
turnover of 4s"11;+, 1/2+ and 1%++ million during the financial $ear 2++8-1+,
2+1+-11, and 1+11-12 respectivel$"
$,Caustic soda is produced !$ electrol$sis of a)ueous sodium chloride solution
during hich chlorine and -2 are also produced" 0or the production of Caustic
soda TCC emplo$s the latest mem!rane cell Technolog$"

1n the mem!rane cell process, ion e>change mem!rane separates the anode
and cathode compartments" 9aturated sodium chloride solution is fed to the
anode compartment here chlorine gas is li!erated at anode and the sodium
ion migrates to the cathode compartment" 2t the cathode, ater is decomposed

Cointl$ and severall$ lia!le to TCC for an$ and all o!ligations arising in a
contract pursuant to this 3B1"

especiall$ to e>plore the potential opportunit$ for non-fuel use of h$drogen,
