Dear Student:

your work.

Post a discussion in which you reflect on your professional and educational aspirations and how you feel
Northcentral can help you meet these. Be sure to mention the following:
Background and interest: Professional and educational background, special areas of research or
professional interest
Personal/professional vision: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Northcentral and you: How you see your education at Northcentral as fitting into your overall
personal and professional development scheme
Northcentral resources: Which resources do you feel comfortable accessing? Where do you feel
youll need more support from Faculty Mentors and Advisers?
Two outside resources (book, scholarly website, article) that youve read recently and you find
relevant to your educational and professional goals. (One of these can be an article you have
published, or your own professional blog or website).
Please note we suggest you submit this initial content post by 11:59:59 on Wednesday of this first
week. Once this is complete please post a response post to another Student's post, to your Faculty
Mentor's post, or an older discussion by the due date of this activity.

Length: Content post 150-200 words; response post 75-100 words

Suggested Due Date: Week 1 Sunday

Your content post and response post should reflect a collegial attitude, be free of grammar and spelling
errors, and include all five of the elements mentioned above.

You will need to return to the discussion activity to see your mentor has response. From the Activities Tab

Introduction to Feedback:

Dear Lindsey:

Thank you for your initial discussion postings and welcome to NCU and to the course! It was great for me to
learn about your background. I hope that the courses in the program will add to and enhance the knowledge
and skills you already possess.

My main teaching points for this assignment are to evaluate whether or not you read all resources and
readings under each activity, followed the guidelines presented to you in the assigned activity and wrote in a
clear succinct manner when the instructions call for it. Overall, this is a good start to the course.
As I mentioned in my welcome letter, I am here to support your learning efforts and to offer you feedback and
resources you may need to succeed, so my main point today is to strongly encourage you to set sufficient
amount of time to carefully review all assigned resources in each activity and to think about them as they
relate to you and your circumstances, so that you can prepare a thoughtful, informed response reflecting the
learning objectives for each assignment. I am hopeful that the next activity on time management can be very
helpful to you in this regard.

Please review my additional feedback below and let me know if you have any questions.

My very best,
Marla

1. Was the activity completed as instructed?
Please note that I will use a table like this for each assignment you submit. Think of this as a checklist telling
you whether you completed each part of the assignment. I will use yes and no to complete the
checklist and if there is something additional I would like to tell you, I will either make a note next to the
yes or no or provide additional feedback in questions 2,3,4.
2.

Greetings,

My name is Lindsey Winter and I was born, raised, and still reside in Nashville, TN. I currently hold an A.A. in Early Childhood
Education and a B.S. in Early Childhood Education with a certification to teach pre-kindergarten through third grade in the state of
Tennessee. I have taught children in both a preschool and elementary setting for almost six years. I currently teach pre-kindergarten at
a local elementary school. Five years from now I see myself finishing up an EdD. I also see myself as a seasoned mentor teacher
within my school.

Northcentral provides a perfect format for me to continue my education while working as a full time teacher. The MEd program allows
me to further develop the knowledge and skills required to take my career to the next level. I am relatively familiar with APA format, but I
will require support adjusting to Northcentrals library.

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is a textbook I used during my associate degree program that I still continue to reference.
Teaching with Love and Logic by Jim Fay and David Funk is another one of my favorites. I generally recommend any of the Love and
Logic books.
