General Directions: Read each problem carefully. Answer each problem following the proper
format (GIVEN, REQUIRED, SOLUTION). Show ALL pertinent solutions and solve as NEATLY
as possible. Express your intermediate answers with at least FOUR decimal places and simplify
your FINAL answers up to FOUR SIGNIFICANT FIGURES. BOX your FINAL ANSWERS. Always
start each problem on a new page. ANY FORM OF CHEATING WILL BE PENALIZED WITH A
GRADE OF 5.0.

Problem 1 (33.33%)
Grue created a giant plate with the following
cross section using a nanoFerric-Kryptonite-
Amorphous Plumbic (nFKAP) material of
density 0.02 g/cm
3
. He is to mount the plate
on top of a 10m-high cone-shaped reactor
located in Siayan Island. However, during the
installation of the plate, an energetic 700-N
minion was stuck on top of the plate at
coordinates (0, -3). If the giant plate is 50-mm
thick, determine the coordinate to where the
plate must be supported by the tip of the cone
to avoid the collapse of the plate, and thus,
saving the life of the unfortunate minion. Use
g = 9.81 m/s
2
.

Problem 2 (33.33%)

Given the figure, determine the coordinates of the
centroid. The shape of a laboratory round bottom flask
is generated by rotating the area shown about the y-axis.
Determine the surface area of the flask and the volume
that can be contained in it.

Problem 3 (33.33%)

For the shaded area shown, determine the following:
a) Moment of inertia about x-, y-, and polar (o) axes
b) Radii of gyration kX, kY, kZ
