2 CONTROLLING ELECTRICITY WITH A SMART DEVICE INTRODUCTION What would you do if you were outside of your house and you forgot to turn off the electricity at home? People forget to turn off electricity at home all the time and there is no other way but to go back home to check if you have left any electricity on at home. Leaving electricity on at home can be very detrimental as it can create fire and waste electricity. To fix this, an application can be downloaded to your smart device to turn on and off electicity anywhere and anytime with connection to the internet. 3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision To help customers around the world with a smart device to control electricity effectively anywhere and anytime for anyone. 3.2 Industry Analysis: Industry: Smart Device Application Industry. The smart device application industry is a fairly new industry that has just evolved since the arrivel of smart devices such as smart phones. (Jain, 2011) Force: High/Low: Justification: Buyer power: High The buyer power is high as applications that are available for the customers are very large. (mobiles statisics, 2012) Supplier power: Low The supplier power is low as there are a lot of application developers in the market. In 2013
3
3 there were 18.5 software developers.(Ranger, 2013) Threat of new entrants: High The threat of new entrants is high as the entry barrior to this industry is low. Little resource is needed to make a application. An application can be made by anyone, with the right help. (Gordan, 2009) Threat of substitutes: Low The treat of substitiutes is low as no application will be similar to my application. This application will create a first mover advantage as no other application will provide this feature. Also there is no other substitute for an application. Rivalry among existing competitors: High Rivalry among existing competitors is high as there are billions of applications and my application will be hard to be reconised. (mobiles statisics, 2012) Overall attractiveness of the industry: Overall the smart device application industry is an attractive industy as there is a high demand for applications and a lot of money. Althought there are a lot of existing competitors there are no substitutes so customers will always download applications. Coming into this industry is cheap and do not need much capital, while the input might be small but the outcome can be very profitable. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs The main target audience for this application would be for house owners that own a smart device. A house owner that owns a smart device would most likely be from a age group from 25 and older or an adult of either sex. This application could be usefull for not only people that own the house but the people that live in the house aswell, also even

4 companies could use this application for their big buildings to be more efficient. This application is vaulabe for customers that always forget to turn off electricity. This will prevent any time wasting, for example having to go back to home to check if electricity . 3.4 The Product and Service This application satisfies the needs of customers as it delievers a service of controlling electicity outside a house which can prevent fires and save energy. The customer can turn off electricity at home when noone is available to turn it off to satify their needs by saving time and effort of going back home. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners The suppliers for this application are application developers and specicalists that set up the system in to the buildings. . Firstly to make this application we will need a application developer to make this application. A exapmle os a application developer are Dell who provides a custom application development support (Dell, n.d.). Secondly the specicalists that connect that system that is built in to the buildings that connects to the smart device. The partners for this application are the app stores and electrical companies. Firstly the app stores such as the google android app store and the apple app store could be partners because that is where the app can be sold. Secondly a electrical company could be a partner as we can collaborate and offer this application to customers to offer them a efficient way of controlling power, where customers could save money. 3.6 Strategy: This applications cost strategy is high cost because this will be the first application that offers complex features, this is also known as first mover advantage. Although it wont be very expenisve it will most diffinately be more expensive that the avearge application on the market. The competitive scope of this application will be a broad market as this application is availble to anyone with a smart device. The overall strategy is therefore Differentiation

5 3.7 Value Chain Activity: The most important value chain activity for this business is Technology development This is because our vision is to help customers around the world control electricity. Controlling electricity via a smart device can be very dangrous there can be no room for error. Improving and finding new ways of controlling electricity is very important for this business. To improve anything to help the customer control electricity will bring value to the application. Technology development also links with the stragegy as it is high cost stragergy customers will expect better things therefore development is essential.
3.8 Business Processes 3.8.1. CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROCESS This process is importatnt to the business as it helps the customers with any issues they are having after the purchase of the application. This builds a relationship with the customers and ensures that the customers are using the application correctly and the business is aware of any problems or bugs that casue problems to the customer.

11 CONCLUSION Competitive advantage: The main cometitive advantage for this is the first mover advantage. We are the first applicion industy to come up with this idea. So we will have a competitive advantage. Improving Customer satisfaction: Our application will improve customer satisfaction by the convienacne of controlling electricity outside of a building. This efficent way save time which is what customers like.
