Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) uses a centralized database system to carry out its core functions and services in a more efficient manner. The system has four key modules that help with [1] vehicle registration, [2] fitness renewal, [3] vehicle owner information, and [4] accident reporting. While accident reporting is not currently online, the other modules allow BRTA to generate registration certificates, fitness forms, and retrieve owner details from a central database. This centralized approach addresses prior issues with data duplication between districts under a decentralized system.

Revenue Investment: The system has been de'eloped to enhance efficiency of the (or. they perform, so the clients get better ser'ices and less harassment. If the (ebsite is interacti'e rather than static, it (ill help BRTA more since people can collect fitness certificate and other certificates and information from their homeJ it leads to stronger contribution and moti'ation of goals. !b'iously the system helps to generate re'enue from each acti'ity as it has become more "1 con'enient. The main issues (ith the current system that Bangladesh Road Transport Authority is facing are in terms of the follo(ing> Operations: Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) is currently using !RAC,5 #I (hich is a system that stores data logically in the form of table spaces and physically in the form of data files. To maintain this operation system, there is little internal manpo(er. They are in different le'el (ith different position. As there is little manpo(er o'er there, it is Cuite problematic for them to operate all the system and information as the internal officers are not familiar (ith computeri*ed system. -o no(adays, they are being outsourced, by hiring e&ternal programmers and pri'ate companies to operate all their computeri*ed acti'ities. The system soft(are is operated by outside programmers as they ha'e no internal programmer of their o(n. !utsourcerAs programmers are not familiar to their traditional paper base system. -o itAs the biggest problem for internal officers to understand computeri*ed system. BRTA system administration is under the (ing of the outsource company as (ell. Any problem in the system or in the case of system crash, the pri'ate companies hired (ill ha'e the responsibility to come up (ith repairing solutions. They ha'e also hired e&ternal 'endor or "$ contractors (ho are helping them by gathering information about recording data of bus rent or minibus, publishing tic.ets, pro'iding transportation information and so on. Maintenance: As mentioned abo'e, due to lo( manpo(er the operational functions and maintenance of the system is done by the hiring of programmer from e&ternal pri'ate companies, li.e the company, KConnectbdG too. the responsibility of the system and loo.ed after it for three years. 8o(e'er there are fe( other particulars that the organi*ation BRTA loo.s after, such as, the Road Traffic Accident database as it has been mentioned earlier. It is one of those (hich is being maintained and updated by BRTA on the basis of police MAA= (Micro0 Computer Accident Analysis =ac.age) information. BRTA and the Bangladesh =olice ha'e been (or.ing together to maintain the truthfulness of the database and promoting its statistical e&actness. !ther maintenance li.e 'ehicle maintenance including patrolling, mobili*ing, parts e&changing, Cuality maintenance of issued dri'ing license and number plates are done by internal officers. Backup: BRTA is currently using KReco'ery bac.up -ystem or +isaster Reco'ery -ystemG (hich is located in Mirpur. There is no significant problem (ith bac.up as the data that is generated is preser'ed as bac. up in the ser'er. They ha'e three ser'ers in The@goan, Mirpur "3 and ,almatia. -o if in any case there is problem in computers or the system crashes, there (ill be no hamper or none of the data (ill be deleted. Because there is duplication in dataAs in all three ser'ers. But if all the three ser'er crash, they (ill lose all the data. "# Security: BRTA system security has different le'els including authority le'el, officer le'el, outside le'el. They are using Intranet in BRTA building and each le'el has different inspector or officer (ith their indi'idual pass(ord. An inspector can enter the (ebsite (ith its pass(ord and (or. upon his panel but further procedure can only be done by the higher officers (generate registration number), people (ith their rightful authority is pro'ided (ith pass(ords accordingly. It has been happened earlier that one officer has gi'en another officer his pass(ord for managing any tas.. That officer has stolen and lic.ed the informationAs to outsource.
